  1. par·a·psy·chol·o·gy
  2. ˌparəsīˈkäləjē
  3. noun
  4. the study of mental phenomena that are excluded from or inexplicable by orthodox scientific psychology (such as hypnosis, telepathy, etc.).
  5. Parapsychology is also defined as the study of the PSI-Phenomena, which is where we get the word Psionics. This study can probably first be traced back to Camille Flammarion, a French Astronomer and author who attempted to scientifically study spiritualists and mediums in his day, back in 1887. He didnt try to disprove them, though he often did, he was attempting to understand what exists after death and what the mind can truly do. He was the first person to attempt to formally and scientifically study the "firmament", which is the layers of the heavens he believed you could access during your sleep, also known as Astral/Ethereal Projection. He also did several studies and wrote a book on hauntings being caused by the remote psychic action of an individual rather than always being a demon or departed soul, which is later defined as poltergeisting via psychokinesis.

  7. That brings us to our next topic, -kinesis.
  8.
  9. Telekinesis was coined by a Russian author and parapsychologist, Alexander Aksakof, in 1890. Telekinesis' original meaning was "the act of objects being moved by a paranormal force", and has stayed a popular term ever since.
  10.
  11. The currently accepted definition of the influence of objects using the mind is actually Psychokinesis, coined by J.B. Rhine himself, who is considered by most to be the father of parapsychology. As an umbrella term, psychokinesis can be broken down into more specific definitions for more specific instances.
  12.
  13. Parapsychologically there are only 2 accepted branches from the umbrella term psychokinesis with 1 having 2 catagories. Telekinesis (PK-S and PK-M) mental effect with psychokinesis on either a stationary (PK-S - example: moving a pendulum) or a moving (PK-M - example: manipulating the flame of a candle) object. DMILS (PK-L/Biokinesis) is the mental effect with psychokinsesis of a living object (PK-L - example: changing eye color/causing chemical reaction within a living body).Everything with -kinesis on the end of it falls within these two catagories.
  14. it can be further broken own with macroPK, directly effecting matter, and microPK, directly effecting probability, but its not really needed.
  15.
  16. The easiest form of PK to start with for most people is PK-M, as the target is already in motion, so you dont have to overcome the friction force, you just have to produce an observable event. This is probably best done with a candle.
