  1. A cozy living room above the kitchen. (#HAH_5)
  2. A comforting feeling of privacy pervades the area. An elegant wall sconce featuring numerous large poppies juts from the wall, holding a flickering candle. There are 2 soft couches decorated with needlepoint poppies here. A tapestry depicting the creation of the lyrebird is proudly hanging here. A lush beige carpet is spread out on the ground. There are 2 elegantly carved ravenwood armchairs here. A small dark brown tea table stands here. A painting of Gurashi and the Racist Dartboard is proudly exhibited on a nearby wall. A gilded pedestal, displaying a painting of A Stack of Cats, stands here, its gold leaf cracked and weathered. A gilded pedestal, displaying a painting of The Seal Of Approval, stands here, its gold leaf cracked and weathered. A shimmering blue circle floats in the room here. Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters lingers nearby, the air about him singing with the rush of the ocean. He wields a dazzling white staff crowned by a platinum pearl in his left hand.
  3. You see exits leading east (closed door), southeast (closed door), southwest (open door), and down (open door).
  4.
  5.
  6. Tridemon twiddles his thumbs.
  7.
  8. You blink.
  9.
  10. You have emoted: Gurashi rubs his eyes, dropping his face back against the couch cushions.
  11.
  12. Tridemon reaches over and ruffles your hair with a fond expression.
  13.
  14. You have emoted: Gurashi stretches his arms over his head, tears springing forth into the corners of his eyes before he is unexpectedly ruffled, gasping. "Ah!" He flails, then smiles. "I... fell asleep."
  15.
  16. You stare blankly into space.
  17.
  18. Voice soft and clear, you say to Tridemon, "...am so sorry!"
  19.
  20. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Oh, it's alright."
  21.
  22. Sniffling and rubbing at his eyes again, you say, "Lately, when get tired is just like... whoosh. Sleep."
  23.
  24. You have emoted: Gurashi's head bobs forward, then lifts again. "You did not just sit there and stare at the back of my head the whole time, right?? Bizi was good and kept you company at least??" He pauses... then leans over the back of the couch, yelling out the open window. "BIZI."
  25.
  26. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "She wandered off. Not sure where exactly she snuck off to."
  27.
  28. You have emoted: Gurashi starts to get up... then gives up and sinks back to sit, huffing.
  29.
  30. Bizirik, the leothin trots in with head high, butting you gently with her head.
  31.
  32. Voice soft and clear, you say, "Ah! Heard me."
  33.
  34. Bizirik, the leothin chirps happily.
  35.
  36. Finger extended, Tridemon pokes Bizirik, the leothin.
  37. Bizirik, the leothin stares blankly at Tridemon. After a moment its tail lifts once then thumps back against the ground with potential delight.
  38.
  39. Bizirik, the leothin shakes itself out, covered in wet, broken leaves.
  40.
  41. Bizirik, the leothin snorts, tail slowly sweeping back and forth. It tilts its head, a single leaf falling to the ground. "Oh, you were playing?" Gurashi marvels. The leothin quickly looks at him, then lets out a little yowl and lolls its head back, snorting, pleased.
  42.
  43. Voice soft and clear, you say, "Oh - sorry. 'Training'."
  44.
  45. You nod your head sagely.
  46.
  47. You have emoted: Gurashi glances at Tridemon, shrugging.
  48.
  49. Bizirik, the leothin snorts and snuffles, then lets out a short series of clicks, tail slapping the ground.
  50.
  51. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "... training for what?"
  52.
  53. Bizirik, the leothin suddenly whips its head around to look at Tridemon, letting out a loud, high-pitched chirp.
  54.
  55. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Training to chirp?"
  56.
  57. You have emoted: Gurashi tucks one leg under himself, the other dangling off the edge of the couch as he leans back to watch. "Are awfully dirty!" He comments, looking the creature over. He reaches over and plucks a leaf off of Bizirik's snout, tossing it aside.
  58.
  59. Bizirik, the leothin suddenly shakes its entire body out, sending water and leaves flying everywhere.
  60.
  61. Shielding his face, you say, "Why did you leave Tridemon all alone! Can do that anytime."
  62.
  63. Bizirik, the leothin tosses its head and chatters back at Gurashi, jaws snapping shut with an audible, wet click. It grunts and turns to Tridemon, offering an apologetic little trill.
  64.
  65. Loud to the point of seeming reverberation, cicadas play out buzzing dissonances.
  66.
  67. Bizirik, the leothin stares implacably at Tridemon.
  68.
  69. Tridemon pats Bizirik, the leothin in a friendly manner.
  70.
  71. Bizirik, the leothin chirps happily at Tridemon.
  72.
  73. Bizirik, the leothin thrums, pleased, as it is pet.
  74.
  75. You think to yourself: **tired but happy swirls of seafoam and pink** .. training for what .... **a touch of lilac**.
  76.
  77. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says to Bizirik, the leothin, "Are you training to bite bad people?"
  78.
  79. Bizirik, the leothin gets an odd look on its face, tossing its head... then unexpectedly sneezes on Tridemon. It snuffles, tail slapping the ground rapid fire afterwards as it looks up with a smug look on its face.
  80.
  81. You blink.
  82.
  83. Voice soft and clear, you ask, "...bite bad peoples...?"
  84.
  85. Voice soft and clear, you say, "Oh - but, Bizi isn't for timequakes..."
  86.
  87. Bizirik, the leothin snorts again, wiggling.
  88.
  89. You tilt your head curiously.
  90.
  91. Bizirik, the leothin leans on Tridemon seeking consolation.
  92.
  93. For a moment, bright vermilion hues paint the surroundings, giving the illusion of everything being aflame. Shortly thereafter, a passing cloud obscures the sun and everything is dark once more.
  94.
  95. You close your eyes and inhale deeply, absorbing the scent of your surroundings.
  96.
  97. You are embraced by a sudden longing for a sumptuous repast.
  98.
  99. Your eyes raise to the heavens as a look of hope flashes across your face. <-- eats
  100.
  101. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Hm."
  102.
  103. Tridemon pets Bizirik, the leothin ingratiatingly. x3
  104.
  105. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "More pets."
  106.
  107. Bizirik, the leothin chirps happily.
  108.
  109. You nod your head emphatically.
  110.
  111. Curiously, you say, "Have there been any more attacks on Your Lady's shrines...?? Or, is it O-K this time."
  112.
  113. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Nothing so far."
  114.
  115. Voice soft and clear, you say, "Hope stays that way! But if need help hunting for things, let me know, -yes-."
  116.
  117. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Hey, Khep, he's awake again."
  118.
  119. You blink.
  120.
  121. Voice soft and clear, you say, "Huh?"
  122.
  123. You think to yourself: / *quiet, distant chittering ... a little louder* What? /.
  124.
  125. You think to yourself: / Oh /.
  126.
  127. You have emoted: Gurashi looks up, curious, then over at Tridemon, gasping. "You guys can talk when am not awake?!"
  128.
  129. The singing of night insects and frogs from the surrounding wetland punctuates the otherwise silent night air.
  130. It is now the 6th of Avechary, 560 years after the Coming of Estarra.
  131. You think to yourself: That doesn't make sense.
  132. You think to yourself: .. that is big magics.
  133.
  134. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "You sleepwalk."
  135.
  136. You have emoted: Gurashi suddenly blushes, bunching his shoulders. "....I know..."
  137.
  138. Tridemon gives you a thumbs up.
  139.
  140. You think to yourself: / Every time you do it's weird /.
  141.
  142. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "In any case, she wanted to hear a specific story, but wanted to make sure you wouldn't just wander off in the middle of it to go for a walk out the window or something."
  143.
  144. You think to yourself: / I've never seen you climb a tree and look so serious doing it before /.
  145.
  146. You blink.
  147.
  148. Softly, you ask, "...a story?"
  149.
  150. Tridemon shifts his eyes suspiciously from side to side.
  151.
  152. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Mmhmm."
  153.
  154. You have emoted: Gurashi suddenly scoots forward on the couch. "What story?"
  155.
  156. You think to yourself: / *you sense her settle in, hear the click of mandibles* /.
  157.
  158. You think to yourself: Do not know that many Tridemon stories ... **a curious shade of lilac again, then deeper indigo, the same shade as you**.
  159.
  160. You sit yourself down on a soft couch decorated with needlepoint poppies and make yourself comfortable.
  161.
  162. Tridemon raises his left hand, flexing the sea-hued crystal that makes up his arm, particularly the extra joints on his fingers. "The story of this."
  163.
  164. You have emoted: Gurashi perks up. "Ah!"
  165.
  166. Voice soft and clear, you say, "Oh my gosh Miss Khep. This is some story."
  167.
  168. You have emoted: Gurashi waves a hand, then settles back in, elbows on his knees and listening to Tridemon with rapt attention, gray eyes wide and expectant.
  169.
  170. You think to yourself: / *an only slightly irritated chirr... resting her gaze on you again* Yes. The story of the Keeper's odd-colored limb /.
  171.
  172. Tridemon gently clears his throat before starting to speak, in a cadence that isn't quite the same as his natural conversational tones. "Once, a long time ago since mortals count centuries as being long... I was a child, in the village of Talthos. Surprising, I know, but as it turns out, every mortal alive was young at some point."
  173.
  174. You stare at Tridemon, eyes wide.
  175.
  176. You have emoted: Gurashi suddenly grins toothily, watching and listening still, catching on with the silliness of the last sentence.
  177.
  178. You think to yourself: / *a roll of the eyes, but she is still listening* /.
  179.
  180. Tridemon continues, his left eye rotating to bring the pupil in emerald into focus. "The details of life back then are a bit on the hazy side, be it from interference from the Portal of Fate, the passage of time, or the simple fact that I was around twelve at the time. If you've ever been to Talthos, though, you know that the thing most central to the village are the gemstones, and the resonators."
  181.
  182. You have emoted: Gurashi cants his head, attention drawn to the shifting pupil before he returns to watching your face as a whole. Inside his mind, Khep chirrs, but remains otherwise silent, content to listen.
  183.
  184. A bit of pale morning light tries to bleed through the clouds, but is quickly lost again.
  185.
  186. Tridemon gets a bit of a faraway look in his eyes, left eye rotating again so that neither the amber nor the emerald are quite focused. "Endless gemstones, spires and twists of crystal, altered and processed and changed in the resonators. There were other things. Details of daily life that try to slip away as I remember. But. All children get into mischief, as you well know, and I wasn't quite alone back then."
  187.
  188. You think to yourself: / Not alone? /.
  189.
  190. You have emoted: Gurashi clenches his hands together, casting a quick glance to the empty couch seat beside him before returning to stare at Tridemon.
  191.
  192. Tridemon looks up to the ceiling, remembering. "I had a little sister, though I can't remember her name. Or her face. Or, to be frank, the faces or names of our parents. As far as I've been able to find out, they never existed at all." He looks back down at his left arm for a moment. "I remember her color- a brilliant blue-violet, and laughter that shimmered like rainbows."
  193.
  194. You think to yourself: .... color?
  195.
  196. You think to yourself: **at the mention of color - an amaranthine shade, tinged with blue, then speckled with light - perplexed, fascinated - a laugh of rainbows??**.
  197.
  198. You think to yourself: / *you sense her look a little closer, studying the arm again* /.
  199.
  200. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "In any case, it is in the nature of children to play, one time or another, in places they were told not to. We weren't supposed to be down by the resonators, but according to her, they had the very best light for refracting through her favorite toy. A strange little twist of crystal, entwined emerald, and amber, and opal. A unique thing."
  201.
  202. You have emoted: Gurashi pauses, gaze drifting back to Tridemon's eye...
  203.
  204. Aquamantic symbols suddenly project themselves upon the very air in dark blue light, fading after a brief moment.
  205.
  206. Loud to the point of seeming reverberation, cicadas play out buzzing dissonances.
  207.
  208. Tridemon gives a brief, sharp-toothed grin, before continuing. "She wasn't particularly clumsy, but she was occasionally careless, in the way that children are. And on that day, she ended up dropping her favorite twist of crystal into one of the resonators, and, unthinking, I went to reach in to pull it out."
  209.
  210. You have emoted: Gurashi's hands squeeze together a little tighter.
  211.
  212. You think to yourself: / *calmly* Big mistake /.
  213.
  214. You think to yourself: **an uneasy swirl of blue** Tridemon...
  215.
  216. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Mm. Indeed. The resonators of Talthos are for altering and changing crystals. And they're not particularly selective about WHAT crystal they happen to be changing. While I was reaching in, the resonators became active, and I knew... pain."
  217.
  218. You think to yourself: / *the curious raise of her antennae* /.
  219.
  220. You have emoted: Gurashi's face has fallen by the time Tridemon mentioned reaching in, his gaze drifting down to your hand.
  221.
  222. You think to yourself: ...
  223.
  224. Tridemon gives another grin, teeth sharper yet. "Imagine, if you will, every particle of one of your limbs suddenly becoming... other. Still feeling, but not quite YOU. More fragile. And too large for your body."
  225.
  226. You think to yourself: / Sounds disorienting /.
  227.
  228. You think to yourself: **the previous colors slowly fade, blue-violet deepening into mauve**.
  229.
  230. You think to yourself: / And uncomfortable /.
  231.
  232. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "It was incredibly painful. It was my arm, but it wasn't. The wrong size. Nerves that didn't quite fire right for my body. Fragile. I don't think there was a single day, from the time it happened to the moment I stepped through the portal, that I didn't bleed."
  233.
  234. You have emoted: Gurashi suddenly looks up to Tridemon's face again, horror settling into his features. Something he hadn't known prior.
  235.
  236. You think to yourself: / *softer - still her usual harsh intonation, but more understanding* I imagine there were no spore heists or ball games for you, then /.
  237.
  238. You think to yourself: **a sinking feeling - sad, for -you-, because you hurt so -much- and it...quickly bled over with a deeper burgundy. listening again**.
  239.
  240. You shake your head.
  241.
  242. You stare at Tridemon, eyes wide.
  243.
  244. Great gray clouds churn the sky, blotting out the sun and threatening to spill into a deluge at any moment.
  245.
  246. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Oh, no. No, nothing of the sort. I was far too off-balance to do something like run, or swim. And my arm was prone to... well, you know what happens to a gem under a sharp impact, yes?"
  247.
  248. You have emoted: Gurashi shudders at the very thought, covering his mouth.
  249.
  250. You think to yourself: / *softer still* ... that sounds rather miserable /.
  251.
  252. You think to yourself: **not able to swim? ... suddenly, a flash of orange concern: does Tridemon know how to swim!?**.
  253.
  254. You stare at Tridemon, eyes wide.
  255.
  256. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Indeed. ... I never blamed her for it, you know. I think she might have felt at fault, but I definitely remember- I never blamed her."
  257.
  258. You have emoted: Gurashi nods quickly, wringing his hands together. His eyes are shiny, mind still whirling over thoughts of you, very small, with suffering so great. "...w-well, of course not... it was an accident..."
  259.
  260. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "It was somewhat of a blessing... that my arm didn't continue to grow with me. As an adult, it was properly sized to my body."
  261.
  262. You have emoted: Gurashi's gaze drifts down to your arm once more, sighing.
  263.
  264. You think to yourself: / *soft chittering, among the regular thrums of hive noise* /.
  265.
  266. Tridemon grins again at you, his left eye rotating to bring the pupil in emerald into focus. "You've never seen someone who accidentally did something very bad subsequently blaming someone who was only tangentially involved?"
  267.
  268. You stare at Tridemon, eyes wide.
  269.
  270. You think to yourself: **...that statement means something, but what..... desaturation of color, pondering**.
  271.
  272. The faintest hint of poppies coils out of the nearby poppy covered wall sconce, candle flickering softly.
  273.
  274. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Anyway. That's pretty much it. Until I walked through the Portal of Fate. Waking up, connected to the Pool of Stars. The power of the Pure Waters... finally giving relief to the pain. Not gone. But far muted from what it once was. Strengthened, too. I stopped bleeding without reason..."
  275.
  276. You tilt your head, gaze softening as you frown.
  277.
  278. You have emoted: Gurashi opens his mouth, then shuts it again, looking like he wants to ask something but hesitating to.
  279.
  280. You think to yourself: / He's wondering about your sister /.
  281.
  282. You fret over everything that might go wrong.
  283.
  284. Voice soft and clear, you say, "Miss -Khep-!"
  285.
  286. Tridemon shrugs helplessly.
  287.
  288. You think to yourself: **flood of panic**.
  289.
  290. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "No idea what happened to her. If she'd ever been in the first place."
  291.
  292. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Perhaps somewhere beyond one of the Shifting City's veils or paradigms or some nonsense. But I'd have been missing for two hundred and sixty years or so at this point."
  293.
  294. For a moment, bright vermilion hues paint the surroundings, giving the illusion of everything being aflame. Shortly thereafter, a passing cloud obscures the sun and everything is dark once more.
  295.
  296. You have emoted: Gurashi frowns deeper, furrowing his brow. Suddenly, he rises from his couch and crosses the living room, stepping over Bizirik to sit beside you, hands on his knees. He looks down into his lap. "Has to have been real - at least, is real enough to you."
  297.
  298. You think to yourself: / *silent, her previous haughtiness now subdued* /.
  299.
  300. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "... perhaps you have seen some reflection of my past in how I act. Simple pain has lost a lot of its deterrence."
  301.
  302. You have emoted: Gurashi furrows his brow a little. "....is why you..."
  303.
  304. Voice soft and clear, you ask Tridemon, "Are... O-K handling when Hive things get noisy and painful ......?"
  305.
  306. You have emoted: Gurashi looks up at Tridemon, canting his head.
  307.
  308. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Well, that, and it's filtered through... well, you."
  309.
  310. Tridemon looks out the window. "You know, nobody told me I couldn't run, or swim, or dance. I just... stopped. Because I couldn't. Because no one wants to deal with that much blood and shattered flesh that has to be... re-set."
  311.
  312. You blink.
  313.
  314. A warm, gentle wind brings forth the scents and sounds of fresh moving water.
  315.
  316. You think to yourself: ** through me - a wash of curious, strangely desaturated pastels **.
  317.
  318. You have emoted: Gurashi looks down thoughtfully, at his hands, and then your own hands, then over at Bizirik, who looks partially asleep - finally back up to you. He frowns, furrowing his brow as his eyes become shiny.
  319.
  320. Tridemon doesn't seem to notice, too busy looking out the window.
  321.
  322. The singing of night insects and frogs from the surrounding wetland punctuates the otherwise silent night air.
  323. It is now the 7th of Avechary, 560 years after the Coming of Estarra.
  324. There are 29 days until the New Moon
  325.
  326. You have emoted: Gurashi lets out a little noise, then heaves a little sigh, suddenly tipping over and leaning against your right shoulder and arm, joining in staring morosely out the window.
  327.
  328. Voice soft and clear, you say to Tridemon, "It is not broken anymore."
  329.
  330. You think to yourself: **morose, deep ruddy mauve and burgundy - not fair**.
  331.
  332. You think to yourself: / .... *the click of a mandible* /.
  333.
  334. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "It's not
  335. You have emoted: Gurashi puffs his good cheek, making a face. "N-no, mean, it doesn't bleed or break anymore, and it doesn't -hurt-," He reaches an arm over to grab very lightly at your left sleeve and give your arm a good wiggle before letting go and returning to sit, still lightly leaning into you. Suddenly, a pause...
  336.
  337. You think to yourself: **a wash of blue violet: images of you, standing stock still and away from the water. you, staying standing at the bottom of a tree. you, staring deadpan at Lorina and Nelras while they flail and dance about during the party in Hallifax**.
  338.
  339. Tridemon pats Bizirik, the leothin in a friendly manner.
  340.
  341. A bit of pale morning light tries to bleed through the clouds, but is quickly lost again.
  342.
  343. Bizirik, the leothin snorts, cracking open one eye before shutting it again, tail slapping the ground.
  344.
  345. Voice soft and clear, you ask Tridemon, "...those things are all really really fun, know...." he sits up suddenly, looking at you with a very serious expression on his face. "Don't you ever want to? Or - didn't you ever wish you could...?"
  346.
  347. Ocean waves echoing softly behind his voice, Tridemon Regalis, Keeper of Pure Waters says, "Mm. Not really thought about it much for the last couple of centuries."
  348.
  349. Voice soft and clear, you say to Tridemon, "But it's really -fun-."
  350.
  351. You think to yourself: / Sometimes it's more fun to watch -you- do things /.
