  1. >How long have you been on this bus?
  2. >With a quick check of your phone, the clock reads 6:14 pm
  3. >Great, nearly 6 hours. It feels like 6 days. Why does your uncle have to live so far away?
  4. >You should have seen this coming. The cold and distant stares day after day, year after year. It was only a mater of time that your parents would send you here.
  5. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  6. *knock knock*
  7. "Come in" Your recognize my father's voice through the door.
  8. >The house is pretty old, so the door swings open with a creak
  9. "Your mother and I have talked about it and we've decided it's time you've left"
  10. >You spin around in your chair with a confused look on your face
  11. "I'm sorry, what"
  12. >You can't wrap your mind around what came out of his mouth
  13. "Your father believ"-
  14. >You lose it
  15. "HE IS NOT MY FATHER! You STRANGERS have been giving me hell ever since SHE left us"
  16. >a flash of pain shows through their eyes and just like that you feel guilty as hell.
  17. >You don't know where that came from
  18. "I'm sor-"
  19. "I've arranged for you to stay with my brother, now get your things and go"
  20. >After an hour of packing, you see your mother standing by the door. An apology is in order.
  21. "I didn't mean to bring her up like that. I know how much she meant to you guys. To everyone. If there's anything I can do..."
  22. >She looks up to you with red eyes, clearly she had been crying.
  23. "Just... just go."
  24. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  25. >Now that you think about it, you've never even heard of an uncle that lived in Virginia.
  26. >Nothing to do now but wait
  27. >You close your eyes and drift off to sleep.
  28. >The sound of airbrakes bring you to realm of consciousness.
  29. >You look out the window to find an attractive woman with a shock of light green hair holding a sign with your name on it.
  30. >Next to her, a tall man in what looked to be a very expensive suit stood with his arms crossed.
  31. >As you approach, his already present smirk only grows
  32. "Hello, you must be Anon. I am your uncle Vernon. Please follow me. Lyra please take my nephew's suitcase.
  33. "Y-yes sir"
  34. >She turns to to pick up the luggage but is obviously having alot of trouble.
  35. "Maybe I should take that"
  36. >Vernon turns to look at you.
  37. "No need for that. It is a maid's job. Now let's go."
  38. >Lyra, already red in the face from exertion, simply smiles at you and waves you off.
  39. >As you leave the depot a driver opens the door and you and Vernon step in. Out of the corner of your eye, Lyra is dragging the bag behind you.
  40. >The drive is a long one, so you try to fill the void with conversation.
  41. "So... uh... what do you do, uncle Vernon?"
  42. "I am the CEO to a very large company"
  43. "Can you be a bit more specific"
  44. >He leans forward and gives you an icy stare.
  45. "No."
  46. >The sudden coldness unnerves you so you turn to the woman next to you.
  47. "Lyra, right? So tell me about yourself."
  48. "Thanks for asking! I-"
  49. >Vernon interrupts
  50. "She's the Help. She's not worth it."
  51. >With that bit of insight into your newly acquainted uncle's character, the car is deathly quiet.
  52. >A quick glance to Lyra's long-suffering visage shows this a common thing
  53. >Yeah, this drive is definitely gonna be a long one.
  54. "Honey, maybe you shouldn't drive so fast"
  55. >Your father, Connor, waves his hand dismissively
  56. "Margaret, it's fine. We're late enough as it is
  57. >You stare out the window watching the countryside. A Deer Crossing sign whizzes by.
  58. "She's right, Dad. We don't have to be there for another 30 minutes." Your sister, Sarah pipes in cautiously.
  59. "But we do have to get everything ready before the guests get there." Your father chimes in while turning slightly.
  60. "WATCH THE ROAD!"
  61. >A deer stands right in the middle of the road. Frozen in fear.
  62. >Your father swerves to avoid it, but it's as if you were destined to crash. A yards ahead, a fallen tree lies in the road.
  63. >CRASH!
  64. >You come to while laying in the grass
  65. >A quick look to your right shows your parents unconscious forms
  66. "Anon, help me!"
  67. >Behind you lies the the burning wreckage of what was once a very nice car.
  68. >And inside...
  69. >"SARAH?!"
  70. >You rush up to the car
  71. "Release the seatbelt"
  72. "I can't! It's stuck!
  73. >The flames have engulfed the entire car. There's nothing you can do.
  74. "Anon? Anon! Help me, please! ANON!
  75. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  76. "Anon? Anon, wake up, we're here.
  77. >You open your eyes to find Lyra's own amber eyes staring back at you and behind her, a huge 2 story estate. Much bigger than you thought it would be.
  78. >Vernon, off to the side, walks up to you.
  79. "Welcome home"
  80. >With that he turns and walks up the stairs.
  81. >Well... here goes nothing.
  82. "Bonnie, help her with that suitcase then tend to whatever my nephew needs to feel comfortable."
  83. "Yes sir."
  84. >You cluelessly watch as Lyra hefts your suitcase out of the trunk.
  85. "No, it's *grunts* fine. I g-got it."
  86. >The maid you overheard named Bonnie approaches.
  87. "Lyra, let me help you with that," concern shows on her face as she leans over to help Lyra.
  88. "Fine... get this side. Anon, follow us"
  89. >You're led to a luxurious room on the second floor, where you begin to place personal things around. With your stuff settled, you turn to your maids.
  90. "Hello, my name is Bonnie, or Bonbon if you like, and you've already met Lyra. Do you need anything?
  91. >You take a moment to look at the women in front of you.
  92. >To your left is Lyra, dressed in a maid uniform that's surprisingly... decent. It's nothing like how those porn movi- you're getting off track. She's shorter than you, with her eyes being at your chin's level. Her mint green hair and golden eyes a welcome change to her monochrome maid outfit.
  93. >To your right is Bonbon, wearing the same outfit as Lyra, although, her figure allow it to fit better. She a bit taller too, at about eye level. Her strange blue & pink hair remind of the candy you ate alot of when you were younger. Her expectant gaze brings you out of your reverie.
  94. "Uh... I'm pretty hungry, I guess"
  95. "I'll get right on that"
  96. >With a smile Bonbon curtsies and leaves the room.
  97. >When Bonbon is out of earshot, Lyra gives you a malicious smirk
  98. "I saw you gawking at us. Be careful, Master Anon," you can feel the sarcasm dripping off her tongue "she's MINE."
  99. >Lyra departs the room and you're left with your thoughts.
  100. >You give a small chuckle to nobody in particular.
  101. "This is gonna be fun"
  102. >*knock knock*
  103. "Master Anon, your dinner is ready." Lyra's voice is muffled by the door.
  104. >Dinner? With all that's happened today, you hadn't even realized it was already nighttime.
  105. "Ok, I'll be right down"
  106. >You descend the stairs and quickly realize you have NO idea how to get around this nightmare of a mansion.
  107. >You open the nearest door to show a gym. You decide to spend a little time in here sometime.
  108. >You move the door across the hall.
  109. >When you open the heavy door, you see your uncle behind a large, ornate desk. Many carvings adorn the desk featuring animals ending with a lion on both ends.
  110. >Vernon looks up from his paperwork and gives you smile that seems... fake.
  111. "I'm glad you stopped by, Anon. Let's talk."
  112. >You step closer and take a seat in one of the leather chairs in front of your uncle. That Smile persists.
  113. "So what did you need?"
  114. "I want to know what happened... 7 years ago.
  115. >You're speechless, how would he... he's family, despite not being close, it's not surprising that he knows about this.
  116. "It's my fault, I couldn't save my sister"
  117. >Vernon raises an eyebrow at this
  118. "To my knowledge, the car was on fire. What could you do?
  119. "For years I told myself 'there was nothing you could do stop it' or 'you couldn't have save her' but that's not true.
  120. "How so?"
  121. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  122. "Anon? Anon! Help me, please! ANON!
  123. >You just continue to stare at the disaster in front of you
  124. >Sarah begins pulling at the seatbelt. Eventually it gives way and falls to the roof. She reaches out to you.
  125. "Anon, help! Pull me out!
  126. >You try but your body just won't move
  127. "I- I can't."
  128. "What?"
  129. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry"
  130. >You start to back away, tears in your eyes
  131. "ANON-
  132. >BOOM!
  133. >The sudden explosion knocks you off your feet
  134. >You sit up and can only watch the flames until the authorities arrive
  135. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  136. "I... see. I'm sorry you went through such a traumatic experience. On a more uh.. positive subject, how is your stay here so far?
  137. "It's been good. Everyone's nice and I love my room.
  138. "Good Good. Well if you excuse me I need to get back to my paperwork." He says as he looks back down
  139. "Yeah, sure."
  140. >You stand up and depart the office. As you close the door, you notice Bonbon standing there with tears nearly spilling out of eyes
  141. "Bonbon, I-"
  142. >She envelops you in a hug and presses your head into her shoulder
  143. >You wrap your hands around her waist and pull her a little closer to you...
  144. >Either she knew what you were up to or it was bad timing, Lyra comes around the corner and Bonbon breaks the hug
  145. "Didn't you here me? Your food's ready."
  146. >Bonbon is the first to leave
  147. "We'll talk later, ok?"
  148. >Lyra draws your attention
  149. "Your foods in the dining room, SIR"
  150. >There's that tone again
  151. "Uhh...
  152. "You don't know where that is, do you?"
  153. >Your unsure gaze answers her question
  154. "Fine, follow me"
  155. >You sit down at at long wooden table
  156. >Your meal is a delicious looking steak covered in gravy with mashed potatoes and peas. Breadsticks lie next to the plate.
  157. "This looks great! Tell Bonbon I said thanks."
  158. "I made it, Master Anon"
  159. "You? But Bonbon said she'd take care it"
  160. "Prepare the utinsils maybe, but she is atrocious in the kitchen"
  161. >You're only half paying attention as you dive into the food
  162. "I saw you, Sir"
  163. >You choke on your food a bit and try to put on your best innocent face
  164. "Whatever do you mean, dear Lyra?"
  165. >She just chuckles and walks away
  166. "Goodnight, MASTER Anon"
  167. >You finish your food and retire to your bedroom for a good night's sleep.
  168. >Lyra weighs heavily on your mind. You're probably gonna have to watch your back.
  169. "This is Mr. Elite and King Konverse on 102.6 jamz. It's 6 AM on this warm Wednesday mor-
  170. >You slam the Snooze button of your alarm clock and hop out bed
  171. >You throw on a t-shirt and some track pants and head outside
  172. >When you get to the front gate you look up and down the street. You had route to run back home, but here you decide to run until you get tired and come back
  173. >About a 20 minutes into your jog, green hair comes into your periphery
  174. "Heya, stranger!"
  175. >You never thought you'd see her out here
  176. "Are you following me?"
  177. >She gives you an incredulous look and scoffs
  178. "Hah! you wish. I saw you huffing down the street, I thought I'd bless you with my company.
  179. "Bless me? If your ego was any bigger, you'd be your own continent. Also, FYI, I wasn't huffing, I can run twice this distance no problem."
  180. "Is that right, Anon? How about a race to that barn? First one there gets a massage from the loser."
  181. >You were on the track team in high school. Some girl with an ego doesn't have a chance.
  182. "Ready? Go!"
  183. >And just like you were off.
  184. >You look back to gloat only to find she wasn't there.
  185. >You face forward to find her AHEAD of you. She's surprisingly quick on your feet.
  186. >You push it to catch up to her. It's neck and neck now.
  187. >If you lose now you'll never hear the end of it.
  188. >You give it all you got and with that little extra speed you move past her just in time to cross the finish line.
  189. >The look of surprise on her face makes victory that much sweeter.
  190. "I- I lost?!"
  191. "Damn right!"
  192. "F-fine you beat me. Now let's get back to the house"
  193. >Trying to weasel out of a bet? You don't think so.
  194. "OH MAN! MY MUSCLES SURE ARE SORE" you yell to get your obvious intentions across.
  195. "I was just joking, M-master"
  196. "Don't try that 'master' crap with me, a bet is a bet."
  197. >She groans audibly
  198. "Fine. Let's just get this over with."
