  1. Aight, so I'm gonna try and lay out a solid way to fix Fire Emblem Awakening that would give it a good story and tweak it with good gameplay things. Idk how to make introductions for long ass Reddit posts so I'mma just go into it. Spoilers.
  2.
  3. Start the game without the premonition. In fact, start the game as Chrom, who encounters Robin in the middle of a field, alone. This field will be the prologue map. After talking, Chrom finds out that Robin has amnesia, yet somehow knows Chrom's name. Puzzled, Chrom shrugs it off until a pack of Plegian bandits strike, surrounding the two from all sides. This is the tutorial chapter. After the first two turns where the player is taught the basics, Lissa and Frederick appear. Frederick believes Robin to be a spy sent to assassinate Chrom, while Lissa is more concerned with the bandits. The group defeats the bandits, but Frederick is still suspicious of Robin. Frederick threatens to kill Robin on the spot until Chrom orders Frederick to stand down. After their battle together, Chrom believes Robin to be innocent, and they shake hands, revealing Robins birthmark to the player. Frederick begrudgingly stands down, taking Lissa back to the capital to inform Exalt Emmeryn of the increasing number of Plegians encroaching on Ylisse's soil.

  5. Chrom and Robin are accompanied by Stahl, Kellam, and Miriel to South Town, where they witness a Plegian military officer kill the mayor and claim South Town as Plegia's. The group readies for battle and defeats the commander. Cut to Frederick and Lissa at the capital having a discussion with Emmeryn. This talk tells the player of how Chroms father provoked Plegia and caused war, and how King Gangrel has made it his mission to repay the favor. A messenger arrives, informing the three that the South Town had been attacked and Chrom, Robin, and the shepherds warded them off.
  6.
  7. In chapter 2, the player is taken to the shepherds garrison, a small base just on the North Road. Chrom is quick to suggest that Robin become a shepherd, and Robin, not knowing anything about his past, agrees. The player is introduced to Vaike, Sully, and Sumia, with Sumia clearly having a crush on Chrom. Aware of the rising tension between Ylisse and Plegia, Chrom elects to travel to Ferox and seek the aid of Khan Basilio to prepare for the inevitable war with Plegia. On the North Road however, the goup encounters more bandits and must fight through them. The player receives Vaike Sumia and Sully and battle the bandits.
  8.
  9. Chapter 3, the group arrives at Ferox and attempts to plea with the guards at the farfort, but it seems to no avail. Suddenly, the fort is struck by Risen and a group of dark mages, and the player has to fight them alongside some Feroxi allies led by Raimi. If Raimi is defeated, you will not be able to get Lon'que later on down the line. After fighting back against the dark mages and risen, the player meets with Khan Basilio, who will agree to help Ylisse fight, promising to help them while the floor with Plegia due to the numerous attacks Plegia has indirectly staged on Ferox as well. Khan Flavia is surprised by Basilio's agreement, but approves. However, in order to receive aid, Chrom has to do something for Khan Basilio; fight as the champion of East Ferox. After this plays out, the player is introduced to Validar and the Grimleal, with one saying that they have found "the vessel" (Robin.)
  10.
  11. Chapter 4 starts off with Flavia introducing the group to Gregor, her champion. Accompanying Chrom and his unit are Lon'que (if Raimi survived,) and Olivia. After battling through the redesigned gladiator pit of an arena, the player fights and beats Gregor. Afterwards, the player is told about Gregors history as a man of Ferox and then Gregor joins the party.
  12.
  13. In chapter 5, Chrom returns to Ylissetol, accompanied by Frederick and Lissa and the others, upon being summoned by Emmeryn. However, Validar and his minions sneak in and intend to assassinate Emmeryn. The player defends Emmeryn, Gauis and Panne are recruited in this chapter, and once it reaches turn 10, Validar retreats, but not before noticing Robin, and saying how the reports were right. Validar will have a dark tome that prevents him from being defeated in the chapter. Cut to King Gangrel. Rather than being a horrible person, Gangrel is a revered leader, despite being somewhat of a trickster in his ways. Gangrel's motivation for attacking Ylisse is an act or revenge, but it is also driven by his quest for the Fire Emblem, a holy relic passed down through Ylisse for generations.

  15. Chapter 6
  16. Validar returns, stating that he has failed to retrieve the emblem, but that he has a plan. Gangrel, unaware of Validars manipulation of him, listens and agrees. He suggests a hostage. The Grimleal drag in Maribelle, who is slated to be sacrificed to their patron god, Grima. Gangrel obliges and sends a messenger to Emmeryn, who demands a council at a secure location on the border of Ylisse and Plegia. Ricken, hearing about Maribelle's plight sets out in hope of rescuing her, having had a crush on her for a long time. Plegians and Ylisse meet, but all goes horribly awry when Ricken uses his Excalibur Tome to interrupt the council and free Maribelle. Grimleal assassins led by Aversa capture Emmeryn, leading to a stand off. The Plegians demand that they be given the emblem or they will kill Emmeryn. Aware of the dangers, Emmeryn had given the emblem to Phila and her unit of pegasus knights. The Pegasus knights storm the area, but are soon struck down by risen archers, and Phila is killed, leaving the emblem to Cordelia. Cordelia delivers the emblem to Chrom, Ricken guides Maribelle to an escape route, and the battle ensues. The player gets Cordelia, Ricken, Maribelle, and Gregor. After the battle, if Maribelle survives, Ricken confesses his love and the two are wed. If Maribelle is dead, Ricken is left devastated and vows vengeance. If Ricken dies, Maribelle mourns for him, revealing that she too had loved him. If both die, it is looked upon as a tragedy. Ricken is promptly scolded for his actions, Chrom being the only one to realize the gravity of the situation. Emmeryn is gone and Gangrel demands the emblem or Emmeryn's head.

  18. Chapter 7. Before they can make their choice, Chrom seeks the guidance of Tiki, the voice of Naga, located upon the treacherous peaks in Ylisse. However, when they arrive, the area is coated in Risen, and Nowi arrives, being chased down by Risen. The player gets Nowi and must confront the Risen. After the battle, Chrom meets Tiki, who tells him that he must protect the emblem at all costs, forseeing a terrible future if something happens to it. She feels a dark presence, but cannot locate the source as her power has not fully returned yet. She bids Nowi follow the group and accompany them on their travels until she is able to do so herself.
  19.
  20. Chapter 8. Chrom stages a plan to keep the emblem and save Emmeryn. The group travels to Plegia, accompanied by a group of escorts provided by Validar. However, they are led into a trap, and have to fight their way out, confronting Aversa, who retreats upon defeat. It is revealed that it is Gangrel who laid the trap, being driven mad with Grima's blessings thanks to Validar. No longer the good ruler he once was, Gangrel has gone mad, and now wants the emblem to cause nothing but destruction, his being driven by selfish desire. His top general, Mustafa, doubts him, but when he questions Gangrel, the mad king threatens to kill his wife and child if he questions him again. Gangrel then stations Mustafa to guard Plegia Castle's approach, to which he agrees.

  22. Chapter 9. The castle is in sight, and Gangrel has Emmeryn held and ready to execute her if anything goes wrong. Chrom and the shepherds approach, readying themselves for the Feroxi to launch their trap and attack. As they approach, the Feroxi attack, led by Raimi if she is alive and Flavia if she is not. Raimi and her squad is killed by the Grimleal with ease, Raimi falling to Aversa. If Raimi is dead, everyone but Flavia will fall and Flavia will face Emmeryn head on, receiving mortal wounds. Basilio is distressed regardless of which path, and saves Flavia if Raimi is dead. Basilio readies the convoy in an attempt to allow the Feroxi men to escape, but Chrom is not finished. Before Chrom can react, however, Emmeryn delivers a speech, and ends her own life in order to prevent Chrom from handing over the emblem. Lissa and Chrom mourn, and the group must then fight their way out. Mustafa, touched by Emmeryn's words, offers the Ylisseans safety if they surrender to him, not wishing for bloodshed. However, when Chrom refuses, Mustafa orders his men to attack, saying anyone who would like to leave the battlefield is dismissed. This move is scorned by Validar, and he is quickly replaced with a mage from the Grimleal, as be is sent back to the capital. Tharja appears in this chapter, and is unwilling to fight after hearing the speech, but is attacked by the Grimleal for her disobedience. She is saved by Libra, who had come to save Emmeryn, but was too late. They are on the field as allies and can be recruited by Chrom. Afterwards, the group returns to Ferox to recuperate.

  24. Chapter 10. The group mourns Emmeryn but agree to press on. Chrom begins to realize that his reckless actions and his temper have led to countless casualties and vows to Emmeryn that he will change and become a better leader. The group is then attacked by Plegians, and must ward them out of Ferox.

  26. Chapter 11. The group takes a short cut to reach Plegia's capital. Robin is beginning to have horrible feelings and begins to have visions of Chrom dying at his hands. After a battle with Plegians stationed on the short cut, Chrom proposes to Sumia, swearing that he will put an end to the bloodshed. She gladly accepts and the two are wed. Robin, happy for his friend, continues to feel unease about his dream. Chrom confronts him, and Robin opens up, telling Chrom his fear. Chrom reassures Robin, telling him that he is a shepherd and he would never let that happen. This is enough for Robin and the two continue to march on Castle Plegia.
  27.
  28. Chapter 12. Mustafa is questioned by Gangrel. Mustafa knows that something is wrong but doesn't say anything, aware of the consequences for his actions. Validar suggests that he be stationed at the castle gate, informing Gangrel that Chrom and the shepherds are on their way. Gangrel agrees and Mustafa is stationed at the gate. The group gives a determined war cry and charge on Castle Plegia. Mustafa stands solemn, and attempts to console Chrom, however, Mustafa cannot turn his blade, even when Chrom offers. Upon death Mustafa wishes that Chrom protect his wife and child. The group becomes aware of how painful the conflict is to Plegians as well but continue on.
