  1. Pharaohnate Force Organizaiton
  2.
  3. Arrow: smallest formation. An arrow is three tanks, fighters, or mechs, or nine horsemen or technicals. So-named due to the wedge shape Cavalry would typically adopt for charges, the Arrow has seen use on Nyb since it was first settled, and development of strategy and doctrine around this tactical division has dominated in the Pharaohnate. A "lead" will usually be the primary machine or Infantry commander, supported by "wings". Doctrinally, the Lead will be the focus of the arrow's tactics while the wings will play support, defense, or ferroting actions.
  4.
  5. Quiver: The second smallest formation; a Quiver is a cheeky name given to the logical progression of the Arrow, where in three Arrows will act in consert. Arrows will usually be assigned a color when within a Quiver, with the lead Quiver being Arrow Gold. In such a formation, Gold Zero is the leader of both the Quiver, and their own Arrow. Further organization is usually along seniority lines. Arrows within a Quiver usually focus on complimentary roles, specializing aggressively to allow their wings to adapt to changing circumstances while the leads focus on pressing the attack. A Quiver is informally known as a MechArrow by some with more Intimacy with the Infantry formation, though this is not commonly accepted lingo.
  6.
  7. Banner: The smallest strategic formation, a Banner is four Quivers and a Lance. Each Quiver within the Banner is usually denoted with role, such as Hammer, Dagger, or Racer. The names for the Quivers can get outlandish though these designations are usually informal. "Greatest of Forty" is used to denote the leader of the Banner, who usually operates independently with a designated bodyguard Arrow (thus, forming a 'lance' on a technicality). The Greatest of Forty is selected by a Nomarch, and each Banner is named ritualistically. Most common names for Banners are "Harus' Faithful", "Sons of Seth", and "Khepr's Chosen". Non-Kemetic naming is just as common though not usually given the limelight by propaganda. The religious overtones are rarely ignored, with less common names such as "Ifrit's Bastards" and "Whores of Alyiah" being notable exceptions and with storied histories to each.
  8.
  9. Legion: A Legion is the sum total of a Planetary force. No more than one Legion is ever raised from a single Nomarch's holding, and each Legion is led by the planet's Nomarch directly. The sole exceptions are the Holy Knights of Amun-Ra, and the Royal Nybian Legion. Both are raised directly from Nyb. A Legion is between three to twelve Banners, depending on the economies or logistics of their home planet, with a Quiver dedicated solely to protecting the independent Nomarch. Legions thus contain anywhere upwards from One-Hundred Thirty to Four-Hundred Ninety machines. Given these formations are usually deployed to combat Regiments strategically, it is rare for a Legion to commit its entire force to a single engagement. Nevertheless, the loss of a Legion has occurred twice in Nybian interstellar history, both during the Clan Invasion. The Nybian Medjay and the Babylonian Firstborn both suffered staggering losses and would be destroyed, with their successor Legions, the Royal Nybian Legion and the Babylonian Jackals holding deep grudges against clans Jade Falcon and Wolf respectively.
