when polertorns was created, he was not technically a titan at that point, he was just a colossus
over about a hundred or so years, he used ancient magics now lost to time, as well as the help of thousands of Shardminds, to create what is known as the Pantheon
the Pantheon is a gigantic crystal that exists outside of the material plane which grants extraordinary powers to those that Polertorns deems worthy
those who have this power are known as Titans
the Pantheon, however, does not have limitless power
if it sustains more than 12 titans at once, then it starts to dwindle in their power, splitting it too thin
so polertorns does not promote new titans unless one has died or stepped down

if Polertorns is the one creating titans, and he's good as far as I remember, why the hell does he let someone like Teimaia or other evil titans have such power

a variety of reasons, usually different for each titan
but the thing is
polertorns can give someone power even against their will (which he has never done)
but he cannot take it away without a specific ritual that the person has to consent to
said ritual takes about a week, so it's insanely difficult to tie down an evil titan for the period
lemme tell you someting;
polertorns did not think this through
when he was making this his train of thought was
"Well, gee, if I die, I don't want an evil overlord to take over and make the good titans lose their powers!"
polertorns is actually really depressed from all his decisions
it's part of why he always stays in forests
he's ashamed
polertorns did not possess incredible knowledge, actually
he's basically a hippie that knows nature well
polertorns kinda expected (and partially wanted) to die a long time ago
so he made rash decisions to try and get a new leader of the Pantheon
but the thing is that anyone strong enough
is evil as shit
so he's like
"FUCK MAN I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO"
most people that seem strong enough to succeed polertorns if they become titans
are killed by more evil titans
like the kraken, mostly
polertorns has the mindset of "well why should it matter i'll be dead soon" or "it's fiiine i'll be dead and won't see it happen", which is why he never learned
he coonstantly tells himself
he'll die soon
since he's a construct, he still has an axiomatic nature, making him more inclined to repeat the same shit over and over
it's basically like there's voices in his head telling him "do that again!" to those thoughts
and he
doesn't have much willpower
he is [pathetic]
you know how some older people can't really see that the world changes?
even without a titanic nature he'd be immune to dying of old age, due to being a construct
but, yes, polertorns can die
however the people that would kill him, the evil titans, don't
because they see this weakness
and they're like "lol he's a fucking idiot"
"let's let him live"
the other evil titans also don't trust his successor, which would be the second most powerful titan

when he was created, he also was given a large system of self-preservation(edited)
so he can't even let people kill him
