  1. Hi Admins, I noticed that Fisherman's Wharf describes the existence of Pier 39, but that Pier 39 doesn't exist yet. So I decided to desc it. I'm super not precious, so if they don't work for some reason I won't be offended. I don't want my character to own these, so that's why I thought I'd just send them to you guys and see what you thought.

  3. Level 1 Pier 39
  4. ((Public outdoor room off Fisherman's Wharf.))
  5.
  6. Pier 39 is a brightly lit tourist Mecca. Colourful and bright, everything here has been marked up at least 200 percent. The boundary between the pier and the Fisherman's Wharf is bordered by flagpoles, each with multiple bright and colourful flags catching the breeze. Visitors enter past a tiered floral display featuring a giant bronze crab with claws outstretched towards the sky. This metal statue's body is covered by live succulent plants, reminiscent of how decorator crabs adorn their shells. San Fransisco's Hard Rock Cafe is here, adjacent to the crab and close to the pier's entrance. Guitars flank the entrance to the music-themed restaurant beneath the cafe's motto: All Is One.
  7.
  8. This two-storey, open-air shopping mall is structured into a vast and long street. It has countless touristy little shops, and some of them are even open late at night. Most are closed, shutters drawn, or are in the process of such. Even the creatively void could imagine the contents available during the day with advertisements such as 'Ice Cream!', 'SOUVENIERS', and 'Only In San Fransico!' flanking both sides of the street. The Aquarium of the Bay's frontage is notable in that it is completely covered with a photograph of a swimming otter. The tagline? "You OTTER be HERE!" Groan. Herringbone laid brick shifts to wooden decking near the middle of the pier. You could almost miss Houdini's Magic Shop in this middle section, considering it is located near countless other stores, including, inexplicably, yet another ice-cream parlour.
  9.
  10. One of the stairways connecting lower and upper floors has been converted into a giant piano keyboard. Gimmicks like that aside, the end of the pier is devoted to entertainment. First, there's "The Plunge", a drop ride which claims to offer one of the best views of the bay. Over double doors, the words "7D Experience" flash in red neon in front of a cartoon city skyline. There's a carousel. This is a gilded Italian-made structure with sea creatures (dragons, sea lions, seahorses, mer-horses?) instead of the usual carousel horse. Behind the carousel is a small stage, often used by comedians, street magicians, jugglers, and the like. The end of the pier also offers incredible views. Alcatraz looms straight across the bay. To the left is a vista featuring the Golden Gate Bridge lit up in the far distance, with Sea Lions lolling about on floating pontoons closer to the pier.

  17. Houdini's Magic Shop
  18. ((Public indoor shop. Creepy robot fortune teller. Close at 11pm))
  19.
  20. %tAmerica's Premier Magic and Novelty Shop, at least according to the sign. Also, according to the sign? They're hiring. The dull brown shop exterior highlights the neon flashing within. And hoo boy, is there a lot of flashing neon within. Every inch of the store is covered in juggling balls, trick coins, loaded dice, fake vomit, cups with balls to go with those cups. It goes on and on. There's also a violently pink gorilla suit for sale, sized to fit an adult male, for a mere two hundred bucks. The staff, dressed in slacks, embroidered vests, and crisp collared shirts, regularly perform sleight of hand, card tricks, and other street magic acts. %r%r%tFinally, there's a mechanical "Houdini." The handcuffed robotic man is visible only from the waist up, clothed in a crisp white shirt. He's trapped within a glass cube, and despite his name, he doesn't seem to have any inclination towards escape. Instead, he offers a printed fortune for a mere two dollars. Bargain. These fortunes are presented in red text on little yellow paper tickets, with a large picture of the smiling, grey-haired robot.

  22. Hard Rock Cafe
  23. WIP (there's already a lot of restaurants on grid, but a Hard Rock Cafe seems kinda iconic to a non-American)

  25. 7D Experience
  26. WIP (IRONICALLY THIS IS WHY I STARTED WRITING DESCRIPTIONS FOR PIER 39, AND I HAVEN'T WRITTEN IT YET.)

  28. Level 2 Pier 38
  29. ((The second level of a public outdoor room.))
  30.
  31. %tWalk up the stairs, musical or otherwise, and you reach the second floor of Pier 39. Here is similar to below. Countless stores devoted to touristy kitsch, including but not limited to the Alcatraz Gift Shop. This has black and white striped prison uniform 'fashion' adorning the window display. This second level is a balcony style walkway that looks down onto the lower street level. Towards the front of the pier, nestled between restaurants, is the California Welcome Center. There's a sizeable billboard-style poster out the front. This depicts a stylised Golden Gate Bridge transposed in a sunny-looking crop field, encouraging visitors to "Explore the Golden State." %r%r%tLarger-than-life photographs of guests posing within Magowan's Infinite Mirror Maze greet those who continue along the second floor in a stretch of white corridor. A speech bubble advises the reader to "get lost!" The black doors of this attraction are backed with mirrors set in primary-coloured frames, and within, a sign declares that the price is a mere five dollars for a day pass. Visitors to the pier's second floor are spoiled for choice in overpriced family restaurants, themed or otherwise. Each of these offer views of the bay and surrounds, and only one of them is Forrest Gump themed. And, of course, if none of that appeals, there's always the Sea Lion viewing area.

  35. MAGOWAN’S INFINITE MIRROR MAZE (CLOSES 10PM)
  36. ((Indoors. Public? Probably a mage hangout. But also. Mazes are cool. Last tickets sold at 11pm?))
  37.
  38. %tMagowan's Infinite Mirror Maze has been described as possibly the most psychedelic place one can legally reach within the city limits. The use of mind-affecting substances within has been a topic of discussion in certain circles for years. Regardless, even sober, the psychedelic labyrinth is a trip. Black lights give the mirror-maze a wash of neon-bright colour. The columns and archways repeat and repeat endlessly as if one has stepped within a kaleidoscope. Each hexagonal column sits at the corner of a triangle paver, archways (and often mirrors) resting at the triangle's edge. Strip lighting has been hidden at each paver's edge, and occasionally these will light up and add to the glow. %r%r%tOnce in the midst of it, one could very well think that there was some sort of strange geometry at work within the mirror maze. These corridors present strange vistas indeed. It often isn't possible to tell if the person you can see walking around a corner in the distance is a stranger, or if that is merely your own reflection seen from an unfamiliar angle. But despite how it might feel within, Magowan's Maze is not infinite. The sign out the front confirms that the maze stretches over 2,000 square feet, with 77 mirrors used to create the optical illusion.
