  1. Section 3: A Vampirgewehr's Slumber and when they choose a name
  2.
  3.
  4. >It's a week later after your excursion to the mall with your two rifles
  5. >Well, Waffegeist and Vampirgewehr
  6. >But Selene just acts like a slightly delusional twenty-two year old
  7. >And Lucya acts like someone who's been around the block a few times and yet still cares about those close to her
  8. >The only reason they seemed more like people is because they spent more of their time as people rather than guns over the past week
  9. >Throughout the middle of the week, the temperature had dropped down to freezing, so you had spent a lot of time inside with them
  10. >It was also still break from classes, so you had all the time to talk with them
  11. >Since you lived near campus, you could convince the IT department to upgrade you to a newer school laptop
  12. >Granted, considering that they immediately handed you a loaner laptop when you'd come in there before, they realized it'd be less hassle to just give you a new one
  13. >So with the laptop upgrade, you installed some games on it, and gave it over Selene
  14. >The two of you were playing a lot of games over the week
  15. >Lucya had buried herself in the fiction books that you had and the textbooks that you'd got from your classes
  16. >By Thursday, she could look at your current work and even point you in the right direction sometimes, quoting prior experience in addition to reading your books
  17. >You looked at your weather app Friday evening, and saw that Saturday morning was going to be a very nice day for being this close to actual winter
  18. >So with nothing better to you, make a decision
  19. >"Hey girls, we're going to the range tomorrow morning"
  20. >Both of them were absolutely ecstatic about it
  21. >Lucya was found polishing her bayonet and loading stripper clips that evening
  22. >Selene was too excited to do much of anything though
  23. >You were just enjoying your evening
  24. >Although
  25. >You weren't sure what to do about Selene
  26. >She may be using your glasses so that she can see to just get around the apartment or whatever else she wanted to do
  27. >But that doesn't correlate over to rifle form
  28. >You've had Selene as your rifle for just a little under three weeks by this point
  29. >And in that time, you haven't even gotten her any sort of optic or scope mounts
  30. >You figured that it would be a complete waste of ammo to try to shoot here without any sort of scope
  31. >But you saw how happy she was that she was going
  32. >You guess that she would be okay with the idea that she wouldn't be fired because of her inability to see that well
  33. >So when you were loading up your ammo cans, you only loaded the striper clips of 7.62x54r that Lucya laid out for you
  34. >You and Lucya both knew that it was the cheapest steel case that you could find
  35. >But she had said previously that she didn't mind too much
  36. *It may not be as good as brass, but it is ammo that I can eat, and it shows that you care enough to take me out to the range. Just be sure to clean me after every trip and there shouldn't be a problem.*
  37. >Is what she'd said previously on the topic
  38. >So there wasn't any sort of issue on her end
  39. >However, she is your rifle
  40. >And given how much joy that she's brought into your life since you got her, you decided to treat her
  41. >Your grandfather has a group of friends that are into reloading, and have made a local business of it
  42. >Considering that the friends had been working with ammunition their entire lives almost, he trusted the quality of their work
  43. >And that was good enough for you
  44. >So you made an order from their online store and a few days later, two boxes of freshly loaded 7.62x54r showed up on your doorstep
  45. >40 rounds
  46. >You'd made sure that Lucya was over talking with Katherine before inspecting them, finding nothing wrong
  47. >Along with the order, there came an extra set of stripper clips thrown in for free
  48. >You loaded those and made sure to hide them so that Lucya couldn't find where they were hidden
  49. >While the rifles were sleeping in their cases for the night, you got up and put the eight stripper clips of brass in a smaller ammo can, and hid it under your bed before you went to sleep
  50. >When you woke up, the girls were already awake
  51. >And they had made breakfast
  52. >Bacon, eggs, and English muffins with orange juice
  53. >They'd also made your coffee and had it in the thermos already
  54. >Eight o'clock regular brew with a splash of milk and a packet of hot cocoa mix
  55. >Just the way you liked it
  56. >"Now, I take it that neither of you want to go to the range today, do you?"
  57. "WHAT?!"
  58. >Selene had such an outburst that you couldn't help but laugh
  59. >"Well yeah, I mean that you two are so eager to make breakfast and sit here with me that you couldn't possibly want to go to the range."
  60. >Lucya tilts her head and gives you a straight face, as if to say "Really?"
  61. >Selene took a more direct objection to this joke
  62. "You got us all ready for the range and now you joke about not going at all?! Not funny!!"
  63. >"Oh, I thought it was. Finish up and we can go to the range."
  64. >Selene calms down and returns to eating her breakfast
  65. >The three of you keep up some idle conversation
  66. >You notice that Selene has taken both sides of her English muffin and put them together
  67. >You watch as she sinks a fang into it
  68. >She had covered the insides in strawberry jelly, so much so that some was sticking out the sides
  69. >You hear a slight slurping sound and notice that the jelly is retracting from the sides
  70. >A few seconds later, the muffin is empty
  71. >She takes the halves apart and starts eating one of them again
  72. >It takes her a few seconds to notice that both you and Lucya were staring at her
  73. "What?!"
  74. >You and Lucya both start giggling as Selene looks on with a confused look on her face
  75. >Breakfast is finished with no other silly occurrences
  76. >So the three of you prepare for the range
  77. >You go and get the special ammo case that has Lucya's brass rounds
  78. >Lucya goes and sets herself in her case
  79.
  80.
  81. >After finishing cleaning up breakfast, Selene walks over to the spare room where her and Lucya's cases stay
  82. >She stops and looks at the pile of ammo boxes that you keep in that room
  83. >More importantly
  84. >She looks at the unpacked boxes of 6.5 Creedmoor
  85. >Her ammo
  86. "What, gonna make me pack my own ammo my first time? Seems a little rude to do to a girl for her first time."
  87. >She giggles a little at her joke
  88. >You sigh though, knowing what's to come next
  89. >"Selene, I'm just taking you to the range today, I'm not actually firing you."
  90. "Haha, good one. Now, you gonna give me a hand with these boxes?"
  91. >She walks over and starts picking up a few boxes
  92. >You walk over next to her and stop her hand from grabbing another box
  93. >"No, Selene, I'm serious. I'm bringing you along so you can see the range and maybe meet some other Waffengeist and their shooters, not to actually shoot."
  94. "Why the fuck not? I'm a Precision Rifle! I show up any other rifle there!"
  95. >"Selene, you have no scope. You know my glasses can't inversely transform into an optic for you, right?"
  96. >She slaps your hand away, but puts down that box of ammo
  97. "Of course, I know that. But I'm still better than them!"
  98. >"You may be that, but Selene, we're supposed to work together to hit the target. And I can't see much past a few meters when taking you out there without any sort of scope."
  99. >Selene tosses the boxes of ammo aside
  100. >She stands up to face you
  101. >You can see the anger in her eyes and actions
  102. "And who's fault is that, huh?"
  103. >"Selene, I-"
  104. "No, don't interrupt me. You had every chance to ask the old man who had me before you to get a scope for me, but no. You just sat there and stared and got yourself cut. And what's more, you haven't even done anything to get my other fang fixed, have you?"
  105. >"Selene, every time you asked about it, I told you about how my finances look; I've even shown you exactly how it goes. I have to pay rent in a few days and then I still have to eat even if you and Lucya don't."
  106. "I get that, but you've spent money on a few things you really didn't need to, damnit!"
  107. >"I bought one book for Lucya because she wanted to finish reading that series! If you'd have asked for something like that, I would have gotten it for you too, so don't go saying I wouldn't get things for you!"
  108. >Selene balled her hands into fists, threw them down at her sides and stamped her foot on the ground
  109. "You don't even care, do you?! I can barely see a foot in front of me without your glasses and not much farther with them. I am your rifle and as my owner you have to take care of me, you understand?!"
  110. >"Damnit, Selene; you are only my rifle because a friend of mine said that he didn't really want to keep you and that you wouldn't sell in his store. His wife couldn't try to get you a damn match for her dating site because you never showed yourself. And as of late, you're starting to make me question if I want to own you too!"
  111. >The fire in her eyes dies down, turning into something more...sad
  112. >Her fists uncurl and her shoulders sag
  113. "Y-you...you don't want me?"
  114. >And with that, you've realized your mistake
  115. >"Shit...no, Selene, come o-"
  116. "No, I understand how it is. You didn't buy me yourself of your own volition, so I don't get why you'd want me. Take Lucya to the range, have a good time, I'll just be here in my case."
  117. >You reach a hand out as she turns around; head hung and looking just like she'd been told she'd never fire again
  118. "I'll just stay in here for a while. See ya."
  119. >And with that, she goes into her rifle form, and her case shuts and locks
  120. >You let your hand fall to your side
  121. >You sigh, and picked up Lucya's case
  122. >You took her out to the car and then came back in
  123. >Grabbing the ammo cans, you run a hand over Selene's case
  124. >"Sorry, Selene. I'll talk to you later, I guess."
  125. >You head out the door, lock it behind you, and get in your car to drive to the range
  126. >>33436549
  127. >You head out the door, lock it behind you, and get in your car to drive to the range
  128. >When you get there and get Lucya out of her case, she transforms into her 'geist form
  129. *Where is Selene's case? I thought she was going with us?*
  130. >You sigh before explaining the situation to her
  131. >"Well, I had to tell her that she wasn't going to be shooting because she's got no scope, or sights or anything."
  132. *Wait, you didn't bring her along anyways?*
  133. >"No, because we fought over that and she basically said that she wanted to be left at home in her case."
  134. >Lucya shakes her head
  135. *Anon, you could have handled that way better you know. You could have at least brought her here to meet other Waffengeist and maybe even another of her Vampirwaffen kind.*
  136. >"I told her that I was going to bring her for that reason, but she couldn't get past the fact that she wouldn't be shooting at all and just told me to go ahead and go shooting with you."
  137. >Lucya looks at you with a straight face before putting her hand over her face and dragging it down until she grabs her chin
  138. *You really don't know anything about how to deal with us, do you?*
  139. >"Well, yeah, I know a few things; but Selene's completely different."
  140. *And there you go, wrong again.*
  141. >You almost glare at Lucya until you see that she's smiling at you
  142. >"I'm listening."
  143. *She's a Vampirwaffen, meaning that she's a Waffegeist as well. You know the important thing about that? It means that she wants and deserves to be treated like one. Some of us prefer to be in weapon form, but for the ones who have owners that care for us and takes us shooting every now and then. You do that with me, and you say that she's different, but she's not. So treat her like you treat me; well, with some adjustments, considering that she's a precision rifle, and I'm your first rifle, okay?*
  144. >You nod
  145. >"Alright, I think I get it, Lucya. The issue is that she doesn't have any sort of sights or optics. At this point, I'd just be lining up my eye with her barrel and aiming down range."
  146. >Lucya puts a hand on her hip and her other one picks up her ammo can
  147. *Doesn't mean that she wouldn't like to shoot. It may be a slight waste of the ammo since it couldn't do that well, but you were a little rude to her in saying that she couldn't go with you.*
  148. >"That was part of it, but I really didn't want to kill her confidence in herself by doing poorly with her."
  149. >I also grab the special ammo can and the targets for the day and we both walk over to the tables behind the firing line
  150. >The range is outdoors, and has an uncovered area and a covered area with shooting benches in the covered area
  151. >Behind the benches there's a table that's built into the bench covering
  152. >There's also benches behind the open area
  153. >The range has target boards at the end of lanes starting at around 3 meters and reaching all the way out to 400 meters
  154. >Per Lucya's request, you go ahead and put targets up at the 50 meter board
  155. >When you get back, she's counting out the stripper clips in the can that she brought out of the car
  156. >She has a perturbed look on her face
  157. *I'm missing a few clips here, Anon. Any idea where they went?*
  158. >You walk up to her with the ammo can you brought in your hand and put it down in front of her on the table
  159. >"I found them in here, not sure what your stripper clips are doing in one of my old cans."
  160. >She looks at it for a second before opening the can
  161. >Her free hand shoots right up to her mouth and you hear a faint *Oh my God...*
  162. >You're smiling by this point
  163. >She looks back up at you, and then back down at the ammo before looking at you once more and vaulting over the table
  164. >You take a step back to avoid getting hit by her as she climbs over
  165. >But once she lands, Lucya immediately closes the distance and wraps her arms around you
  166. *Thank you thank you thank you thank you!*
  167. >"No problem, Lucya! Glad you like them already. We should try them out though before you definitively say you like them."
  168. >She nods and turns around, taking all but two stripper clips out of the can and closing it
  169. >"Not all of them?"
  170. *You kept ten rounds after that last range trip you went on with all your friends. I can only assume that was for home defense as you don't have a pistol or a shotgun.*
  171. >You chuckle
  172. >"Right on the nose, Lucya. You know me too well some times."
  173. *I'd rather you be able to be safe than shoot all the ammo that you bring me. Where did you get it this time?*
  174. >You and Lucya walk over to the other side of the table, up to the benches
  175. >"Some reloaded ammo that is from a company that my grandfather knows of. It's run by a few of his friends who know what they're doing. They reload a lot of the obscure rounds along with all of the more commonly seen ones."
  176. *As long as you trust their quality, I'll try them out. They have to be better than that steel cased junk you fed me up until now.*
  177. >"Sorry Lucya, I didn't know that you disliked them that much."
  178. >She grabs all the clips of the steel case ammo that you brought, exactly 50 rounds, and places them on the benchtop
  179. *That's alright, I didn't tell you anything before, so you couldn't have known.*
  180. >She reaches an arm out towards you
  181. >You grab the inside of her forearm as she grabs yours and she transforms into her rifle form
  182. >Despite all the scratches, places where the finish is wearing on her wood, and the marks showing the rifle's age, she's still beautiful in this form to you
  183. >That's not to say that her Waffegeist form wasn't beautiful as well
  184. >You just like admiring the look of her in this form
  185. >You load a clip into her magazine and close the bolt
  186. >Sitting down at the bench, you aim at the target at 50 meters
  187. *You're going to miss, you know.*
  188. >"What the-?"
  189. >You stop aiming and look Lucya over, still in her rifle form
  190. >Maybe you were just hearing it?
  191. >Deciding that it was your mind playing tricks on you, you re-aim
  192. *Don't move this time, it's actually me.*
  193. >"Lucya?"
  194. *Yes, now if you hold still, I'll tell you something.*
  195. >"Alright."
  196. *A trick that I learned back when I was in the war; after you've spent enough time with one person, Waffengeist are able to communicate with their shooters telepathically when they're held close to the shooters face. You know, like right now, when you're about to shoot.*
  197. >You think about it, and decide you really don't want to put the effort into trying to figure out how that works
  198. >"So you've deemed that we've spent enough time together for you to tell me your secrets like that?"
  199. *Nope, it's just that unlike with my shooter during the war, I actually showed my Waffegeist form to you.*
  200. >"Fair enough, Lucya. So then, enlighten me on why I was going to miss."
  201. >The next few minutes were spent with her describing in detail what you were doing wrong
  202. >Granted, until you bought her, you could count the amount of times you've been shooting with friends or relatives on one hand
  203. >So not like you had much experience with it
  204. >Lucya was a better teacher than anyone else you'd been shooting with
  205. >About half an hour later, you'd been through 30 out of the 50 rounds
  206. >And you had improved greatly
  207. >Lucya barely said anything past *Good, again.* or *Old habits are back.* after about the 25th round
  208. >It seemed like she'd slipped into acting more like someone who had a military background and training instead of her normal calm, soft, and caring self
  209. >Not that you minded
  210. >Her change in demeanor had done the effect she wanted
  211. >You and her went through the rest of the steel case and moved over to the bench behind you
  212. >She changes back to Waffegeist form
  213. *Phew, you've gotten better. If I'd known you needed that much help with shooting I'd have shown myself earlier.*
  214. >"Why didn't you the first time we went shooting? Or the time that I was here with a bunch of friends?"
  215. >She takes a few breaths in and out, calming herself down
  216. >Looking over at her, she has sweat on her brow, but still looks like she could continue for most of the afternoon if she wanted to
  217. >And it wasn't even lunch time
  218. *Well the first time you brought me here, I was about as excited as you were that I was getting to shoot again. And the time you were here with your friends, you were having a great time with them, so I didn't want to interrupt.*
  219. >"Oh, alright. From now on, let me know if I'm messing up or anything, alright?"
  220. *Sure, that being said, those two over there look very familiar to me. I think I saw them that day.*
  221. >You look over and see a man and a woman walking over towards the covered area
  222. >Hand in hand
  223. >Looking at them again, you almost didn't recognize them because they weren't arguing at all
  224. >It was one of your friends that had graduated from grad school the year before
  225. >And the girl, well that was his AR-15 he'd built
  226. >You remember that when you were at the range with all your friends, that the two of them were arguing something fierce
  227. >You also remember thinking that they'd hate fuck later
  228. >This causes you to smirk as the two of them get close
  229. >"Jeff, Stacy, how are you two?"
  230. "Can it, Anon. Been a while though, we're fine; how about you?"
  231. >"Been better, been worse."
  232. >Stacy points to Lucya
  233. 'Is she your Nagant?'
  234. *I am, my name is Lucya. You two end up making up after the last time we were all at the range at the same time?*
  235. >Jeff begins to smirk as well
  236. >Stacy, on the other hand, turns bright red
  237. >You look back at Lucya and she's smirking about as hard as you are right now
  238. >Apart from that, the next hour or so goes normally with Jeff and Stacy settling down and beginning to go about their range day
  239. >You pull out the brass case ammo you'd found for Lucya
  240. >Sitting down at the bench, you load the first stripper clip, aim, and fire a round
  241. >In your head, you hear what sounds like Lucya's voice
  242. >"Lucya, you good?"
  243. *Mmmyes...That stuff is SO much better than that steel case you've fed me, let's keep going!*
  244. >29 rounds later, the two of you are out of ammo, excluding the 10 rounds that Lucya insisted on keeping for home defense
  245. >Jeff and Stacy ran out of ammo a while ago, and so Jeff started shooting with his pistol, a CZ of some sort
  246. >Stacy walks over to you and Lucya as you are packing up to head out
  247. 'So, you two, uh... you know?'
  248. *No, we're not. Although that new rifle he got is hot~*
  249. >Stacy lights up at those words
  250. 'You got another rifle?! Oh yay! What kind?!'
  251. >"Ruger Precision Rifle, her name is Selene."
  252. 'Why didn't you bring her along? I'd love to meet her!'
  253. >"Well, she doesn't come with any sort of optics, and I don't have the funds to even get her any right now. I told her this as we were all getting ready to go to the range today and she and I got into a fight."
  254. 'Shit, that's not good.'
  255. >"Yeah, I might have said that I never asked for her in the first place and then she just told me to leave her there and shut herself in her case."
  256. 'Wait, you said she doesn't come with any sort of sights? Can she at least see in her Waffegeist form?'
  257. *She has to borrow an old pair of his glasses to get around, but even then her vision isn't that great.*
  258. >Stacy's face turns serious
  259. 'Wait here.'
  260. >Stacy bolts towards the table behind the pistol range that has Jeff's range bag
  261. >Jeff turns around and starts talking with her
  262. >She must have found what she wanted because she ran back over to you and Lucya
  263. 'Gimme your hand.'
  264. >"W-what?"
  265. 'Just hold out your hand!'
  266. >You comply with her demand
  267. >She drops two objects into your hand
  268. >Looking at them, you see that they are flip-up sights that would fit perfectly on Selene's top rail
  269. 'You take those back with you, I don't need them anymore. Regardless, you take those back, apologize to her the best you can, make sure she knows that you want her to stay with you, and then you bring her here next weekend and give her those, understand me?'
  270. >You nod your head
  271. >Looking over at Jeff, he gives you a thumbs up
  272. >Stacy points a finger at Lucya
  273. 'And you make sure he does it, got me?!'
  274. >Lucya chuckles a little
  275. *I find it amusing that you think you can boss me around. However, I planned on that already. I like having both of them happy.*
  276. >Stacy flinches but doesn't back down
  277. 'Good, because I'd have words with both of you if he doesn't.'
  278. >Stacy runs back over to Jeff, who hugs her
  279. >You and Lucya pick back up the stuff that you brought and load up the car
  280. >"Hopefully it'll be enough."
  281. >You start the car and Lucya gets in the passenger seat and buckles up
  282. *It will be, you can apologzie well enough.*
  283. >You pull away from the range, you and Lucya waving back to Stacy
  284. >Unbeknownst to you, Stacy turns to Jeff as he finishes shooting
  285. 'Alright, how the hell did she know that we did what we did after that range trip.'
  286. "Stacy, I have no idea. Were we that obvious?"
  287. 'Guess so...'
  288. ***
  289.
  290.
  291. ==========================================================================================================================================
  292.
  293.
  294. >You and Lucya got home from the range that day in very different moods
  295. >Lucya was absolutely ecstatic that she was able to go to the range with you today and shoot
  296. >And she was absolutely overjoyed with the fact that you were able to find a source of good brass case ammo for her
  297. >You on the other hand, were very unresponsive and quiet
  298. >How you would apologize to Selene was the first thing on your mind
  299. >Another one was what would you do to make it up to her
  300. >You had the flip up sights that Stacy had given you
  301. >But that was only a temporary fix for a larger problem
  302. >You'd looked up different optics previously, and the one that you wanted to get her was a little bit shy of one thousand dollars
  303. >Meaning that you'd have to save up for quite a while
  304. >Granted, in a few months, there wouldn't be an issue as you would graduate college with an engineering degree and your college had a high placement rate right out of graduation
  305. >So if nothing else, you could get her an optic as soon as you had a job offer in hand that came with a signing bonus
  306. >But then again, that was months away, and you wanted to do something for her sooner
  307. >Flip-up sights were one thing, but a scope and mounts?
  308. >You doubt that you'd get one just handed to you, no matter how good a friend they were
  309. >So you kept looking for deals, hoping that sometime soon, you'd find a good one
  310. *Anon, are you alright?*
  311. >You look over and see that Lucya is looking at you with a questioning glance; her eyebrows up, eyes fully open and showing concern, and her reaching a hand over across the car to you
  312. >You're glad that someone like her is in your life
  313. >You return her smile, but it's more of an empty gesture
  314. >"I'm fine, just thinking about how to make Selene think everything is okay after earlier today."
  315. *Well you've got those sights and you're truly sorry about it, so I think she will understand. Once you give her those sights and say you'll go shooting with her, I think that she'll forgive you completely.*
  316.
  317. >"I hope so, Lucya. I'll take her shooting tomorrow if she wants. I'd bring you again, but..."
  318. *I'm back down to only having ten rounds, I know. I had fun today and you were nice enough to take me with you regardless of what happened with her.*
  319. >You nod
  320. *Besides, I think the two of you need some time together at the range alone.*
  321. >"What do you mean?"
  322. *Well the first time that you took me out shooting, it was just you and me. I know that I didn't show myself that time, but it was just us. I loved the sense that it was just you and I; and even though she knows that I live with you too, I think she would love to have that feeling too.*
  323. >"You think so?"
  324. >She nods
  325. >The rest of the car ride home is quiet
  326. >Back at the apartment, Lucya carries her case and ammo box inside
  327. >Locking the car, you head inside after her and go straight for the spare room
  328. >Lucya's put her stuff back in it's normal place and stepped past you out of the room
  329. >She placed a hand on your shoulder as she passed
  330. *I'll go take a shower, you see what you can do here with her.*
  331. >"Alright, sounds good, Lucya. You did great today."
  332. >You turned around enough to see her stop in her tracks and adopt a very slight smile
  333. *Thank you, Anon. I'm glad to know that you think so.*
  334. >You smile at that as well
  335. >She heads off to the bathroom
  336. >Now alone, you open Selene's case
  337. >"Selene, I'm sorry about earlier today, can you come out, or switch forms, or whatever so that I can talk to you properly?"
  338. >No response
  339. >"Look, I know I fucked up earlier saying those things to you. And whether or not you believe it, I didn't really mean the things I said."
  340. >You put a hand at the back of your neck, unsure how reasonable what you've said is
  341. >"Alright, that didn't come out right. At the time, I meant what I said because I was fired up and angry that you didn't seem to understand where I was coming from. I've since realized that you're right on a lot of things. As kind of an apology, I got you something."
  342.
  343. >Again, no response
  344. >You sit on the floor at that point
  345. >Reaching a hand out, you run it across her handguard
  346. >"Look, I'm sorry. I want to go back to before I said all that stuff and never say it in the first place. I forgive you for what you've said about me since it's mostly right. If you want some time alone, I understand. I'll give this to you when you feel like talking again."
  347. >You got up from the floor and put the flip-up sights you had in your other hand on your desk
  348. >Booting up your computer, you sigh in defeat
  349. >You'd hoped this had gone differently
  350. >However, you realize that she might need her space
  351. >Lucya was finished with her shower, and walked back into the room
  352. *She change forms at all?*
  353. >"No, she's not responding, so I'm just gonna give her some space until she's willing to talk again."
  354. *Fair enough. I'm going to take a few days off as well, it's been very exciting these past few weeks, but I'm still acclimating to being awake for such long periods of time.*
  355. >"Gonna at least wake up in time for dinner each night? I've quite enjoyed eating with people the past few days."
  356. *You realize that we don't have to eat, right?*
  357. >"I do, but I like to at least have someone to talk to while I eat."
  358. *Fair enough,
  359. >And since you'd only had Selene and Lucya in your life for no more than a few weeks, it was pretty easy to go back to what life was before that
  360. >So since it was still break from classes, you went back to what you would have done before they entered your life
  361. >Video games, reading, and some other assorted hobbies
  362. >Sunday and Monday passed fairly uneventfully
  363. >Lucya came out to chat at random times of the day
  364. >However, she made it out every evening for dinner
  365. >You both enjoyed each other's company as you ate dinner and she sat and talked
  366. >Regardless, she did occasionally pick at your food and taste what you've made
  367. >On Monday night, she came to a conclusion
  368. *Anon, I will cook dinner from now on!*
  369.
  370. >"Lucya, I can cook for myself, you know?"
  371. *Yes, but I want to cook for you. I'll make sure to make things that you can take with you for lunch the next day. I want to start now so I can practice before you start classes back up.*
  372. >"Fine, fine, we can start tomorrow then."
  373. >Lucya's face lights up
  374. *Excellent! Thank you, Anon!*
  375. >You smile a little too, but then your smile fades as soon as it appeared
  376. >"I would like for Selene to eat with us too, though."
  377. >Lucya thinks about it for a few seconds before snapping her fingers and looking at you
  378. *I got it! She drinks your blood as her source of food basically, so what if you were to give her some blood while she's in her rifle form?*
  379. >You think about it for a few seconds, and then nod to her
  380. >"After dinner, I'll do that."
  381. >You and Lucya continue chatting each other up about other subjects as you finish dinner
  382. >Afterwards, Lucya takes your dishes and begins to clean up
  383. >Meanwhile, you head over to your hobby room
  384. >Opening Selene's case, you run a hand over her
  385. >You bring your hand down to the screws in her side; the sanded down one and the un-modified one
  386. >Palm down, you lay the edge of your hand on the un-modified screw head
  387. >Inhaling sharply, you swiftly drag your hand across the screw
  388. >Turning your hand over, you see the wound start to open up
  389. >In hindsight, you could have picked a better part of your hand to cut instead of the palm
  390. >This cut is going to really be a pain for the next few days
  391. >Clenching your hand into a fist, you hold the bleeding hand over Selene's rifle form
  392. >You let blood fall over the flat surface of that form
  393. >Unlike the time where you cut your hand in the bolt, the blood didn't instantly disappear
  394. >It took a few seconds, but the blood started to disappear
  395. >Slowly, almost as if you had started bleeding into a sink and didn't wash it out
  396. >After a few minutes, all that was left was a painful cut on your hand and the smell of iron in the air
  397. >The next few days were no different
  398.
  399. >Selene stayed in rifle form and you cut yourself a few more times in different, less obtrusive places to feed her
  400. >Lucya in turn fed you, as her cooking ended up being amazing and even better than anything you've done
  401. >The change in pace came around Thursday evening
  402. >Lucya made dinner again, and against your better judgement, you ate too much
  403. >Not much long afterwards, you're sitting there in a food coma
  404. >You went over to the couch, and laid prone, trying to let your food settle
  405. >And a few minutes later, you fell asleep
  406. >Not much long afterwards, you wake up to the sound of something slowly cutting into your skin from behind your right ear
  407. >You start to move your head, but a hand reaches down and forces your head to stay down
  408. >If it was any other sensation at your neck, you would have freaked out hard
  409. >But since you've lived this way for a few weeks, you knew exactly what it was
  410. >A few seconds later, the hand is removed and the piercing sensation at your neck turns into more of a nibble
  411. >"Selene? That you?"
  412. "Y-yeah..."
  413. >Her voice is fairly weak
  414. >You turn over to find her straddling your stomach
  415. >She looks... well you can't really tell if she's paler than usual, but she definitely seems tired
  416. >"Selene are you alright?"
  417. "I'm just a little bit tired and haven't been feeling good the past few days."
  418. >"Look, if it's because of what I said Saturday, I want to let you know tha-"
  419. >Before you could finish your sentence, Selene lazily reached a hand up and sloppily put it over your mouth
  420. "Shush-sh-sh. I heard everything you said, and I forgive you as long as you can forgive me for what I've said."
  421. >You take her hand in yours, away from your mouth
  422. >"Of course I forgive you, Selene. Now let me know what's wrong as to why you're feeling so bad so I can help you."
  423. >She nods
  424.
  425. "I conclude that it was that jelly that I sucked out of the English muffin we had for breakfast. After we argued, and I went into my case, after you guys went to the range, I came out and felt horrible. So I needed to go into a sort of suspended animation."
  426. >"A what?"
  427. "Think of it like a death trance. I had to sleep it off, turning off or lowering most of my bodily functions other than the ones that will aid in recovery. Given enough time, pretty much any injury or issue that I come across will go away."
  428. >"So what did that have to do with the English muffin?"
  429. "Well with the way that I did it, it was way too thick of a consistency. Blood is much thinner than that and I thought it was about as thin as blood. I was wrong, but neither of us could have done anything about it. All I know is that it caused the issue and that I needed to sleep. The blood that you gave me over the past few night helped a lot; I would have been out for a week or two if you hadn't. So uh, thanks for that."
  430. >You let go of the hand that you were holding and wrap your arms around her and pull her down into a hug
  431. >She tries to resist at first, but she relaxes within seconds and tucks her arms in between you and her
  432. >"Selene, I'm sorry that I made you feel the way you did and didn't think about the consequences about letting you do that. To make it up to you, I got you a gift, and I'm taking you to the range tomorrow, just you and me."
  433.
  434. "I'd like that, I heard the idea the first time you suggested it a few days ago. Hearing is one of the things that doesn't get shut off during the death trance because I need to know when someone is trying to sneaking up on me."
  435. >"Fair enough, Selene. You want anything else right now?"
  436. >She sleepily reaches up to your jaw again
  437. >Selene tilted your head back and to the side to expose your neck a little more
  438. "Well, at this point, I'm just gonna have a snack and then go back to sleep so I can be ready for tomorrow, okay?"
  439. >You smile as Selene stretches out on top of you
  440. >"Uh, Selene?"
  441. "Just getting comfortable. Don't worry though, I'll make sure to stop the bleeding before I fall asleep."
  442. >With that, she bites into your neck again
  443. >The bite isn't that painful, and neither is the impending blood loss
  444. >In fact, as of late, you've gotten used to it, and it's been comfier than it was at the start
  445. >You slowly start to drift off to sleep from the blood loss
  446. >Right when you're on the edge of sleep, Selene pulls her fangs out of you
  447. "There we go, thanks. Goodnight, Anon."
  448. >And with that, she fell asleep, laying on top of you
  449. >You thought about getting up and putting her in your bed
  450. >However, that idea went out the window as you tilted your head up and felt the effects of the blood loss
  451. >So with that, you ended up falling asleep with Selene laying on top of you
  452. ***
  453.
  454. >As far as you were concerned, the next morning came too soon
  455. >It was rather comfy to have Selene laying on top of you last night
  456. >Waking up in the morning, you see that Selene is still there
  457. >Her breathing is very smooth and evenly spaced
  458. >You try not to pay attention to it because it's so soothing and you'll feel that you'll fall back asleep
  459. >You look around the living room for a bit, but eventually come back to her
  460. >Different from last night, you notice that there's a blanket covering the two of you
  461. >Seems that Lucya decided that the two of you needed it
  462. >Not that you were complaining
  463. >It made sure that Selene would stay there or that you would notice when she got up
  464. >Selene was wearing some of the clothes you got her on that shopping trip last week
  465. >Tank top, baggy pajama pants, and you saw the silly cat slippers on the floor next to the couch
  466. >You'd passed out right after dinner last night, so you were still in your plaid button up shirt and jeans
  467. >Normally that wouldn't be too comfy, but you had someone on top of you to help with that it seemed
  468. >It was about this point, that you realized that you could stay like this for most of the day
  469. >But a few seconds later, Selene woke up
  470. >She yawned right in your face
  471. >After she was done yawning, she closed her mouth and layed her face back down on your neck
  472. >"You know Selene, you can lay here all day, or we could go to the range. Your decision really."
  473. >With that she jolts slightly
  474. >She's definitely awake now
  475. "Shit, that's today, can we go now?!"
  476. >You laugh at her excitement a little
  477. >"Not just yet, Selene. I have to eat breakfast first, take a shower, and such. You want to get your stuff ready and give me time to take care of things on my end?"
  478. "Sure!"
  479. >She doesn't move though
  480. >"What's wrong?"
  481. "Nothing, just thought I bumped into something hard when I shifted around..."
  482. >Your face turns a little red as you realize what she meant
  483. "And that's the reaction I was looking for~. Alright, we can get up now!"
  484.
  485. >With a smirk on her face, she lifts herself up a little so that you can get out from under her
  486. >She gets her slippers on and heads into your spare room
  487. >You take a few seconds to let your face go back to normal from her little jab at you and head for your room, taking the blanket with you
  488. >Lucya has taken up residence on your bed, still fast asleep
  489. >A few of your textbooks and a novel or two are laying around her
  490. >Some open, some closed
  491. >You decide not to disturb her supposed diabolical plans too much and cover her with the blanket just as she covered you and Selene last night
  492. >Then, you reached under the bed for a small box
  493. >You didn't really need to, but you went and borrowed some wrapping paper from one of your few friends who lives on campus for this
  494. >In the box were Selene's new flip-up sights
  495. >You then placed it in the same ammo can that you kept Lucya's brass rounds in when you took her out last Saturday
  496. >Don't want Selene to know about those until you get to the range
  497. >Quietly going about your business, you took a shower and got ready for the morning of shooting
  498. >Once done, you walked back out to the living room
  499. >Selene's case and can full of ammo was sitting next to the couch that you had both slept on
  500. >And Selene...
  501. "Anon, I made your breakfast for you!"
  502. >Selene comes bounding up to you with a plate of bacon and eggs with a glass of cranberry juice
  503. >She's back in her normal all black attire
  504. >Not that you're complaining at all
  505. "I got packed so quick that I thought I'd make you some breakfast, now come on, eat so we can go!"
  506. >"Alright, alright. Thank you, Selene."
  507. >You set down the ammo can that you had her sights in and took the plate from her
  508. >The food disappeared as fast as you could manage
  509. >As you took the plate to the kitchen, Selene grabs her stuff and stands at the door
  510. "Alright, let's go!"
  511. >With that, she unlocks the door and steps outside
  512. >You can't help but smile at her
  513. >You leave a note for Lucya on the fridge, saying you'll be out for a while
  514. >Grabbing her gift box, you follow her out, closing and locking the door behind you
  515. >The two of you get in the car and head to the range
  516. >The drive is actually somewhat quiet due to Selene having too much nervous energy and being too excited
  517. >You're slightly smiling every time she looks over at you
  518. >You put some calm music on the stereo system in your car to break some of the silence at least
  519. >Doesn't calm her down any, but that's alright
  520. ***
  521.
  522. >After about a 20 minute drive, you arrive at the range
  523. >It's early enough that you have the entire place to yourselves
  524. >Selene bounds over to the table as soon as she gets out
  525. >Leaving you to get all of her stuff over to the table behind the benches
  526. "Oh wow! This is so cool! How far does it go out?!"
  527. >"It goes out 300 meters...or 300 yards, I can't remember which one it is, but this range complex has another range that goes out to a kilometer."
  528. >Her face turns to one of utter surprise and shock
  529. "A-A kilometer?!!! We have to try that!"
  530. >"Not until I get you a proper optic Selene. Which, I promise I will get you one as soon as I can."
  531. "I understand, I just can't wait!"
  532. >"Well, would you rather sit here and keep not waiting, or would you rather shoot here for now? I brought all the ammo I have for you; 150 rounds."
  533. "Then let's get started!"
  534. >You laugh as she opens the ammo can with all of her ammo and rips the first box open
  535. >She starts loading the one 10-round magazine that came with her
  536. "This is going to be pretty slow since we only have one magazine."
  537. >"Oh, that's alright. It's your first time out, so we can take it slow if you'd like. I'm going to put a target out at 50 meters to start with, I'll be back in a second."
  538. >You take one of the paper targets you have with you out to the 50 meter board and staple it up to the plastic signboard that the range uses
  539. >Walking back, you see Selene pick up the ammo case that you brought and look at it, turning it around and over in her hands
  540. "Hey, Anon. What's the deal with this ammo case? Doesn't sound like there's any ammo in it."
  541. >You walk up and wait until she hands it to you
  542. >"It's just a cover-up this time for something else, actually."
  543. >You open the case and hand her the gift-wrapped box
  544. >She reacts as you'd expect, a slight mix of curiosity and happy surprise
  545. "Y-you didn't have to!"
  546. >"Selene, yes I did. Now open it before you say that I didn't have to again."
  547. >She listens and takes the lid off the box
  548. >The moment she looks inside, her face looks more like she had just been proposed to with a wedding ring
  549. "Y-you...you got me sights?!?!"
  550. >"Yeah, I figured that you'd actually want to hit something if you went shooting. Plus, a friend of mine gave them to me and said that I should give them to you."
  551. >Selene takes the flip-up sights out of the box, and puts the box down on the table
  552. >She hands you the sights to hold in one hand, and grabs your other hand in her free one
  553. >She places it on the back of her neck, and she changes forms to the rifle
  554. >You carefully put the sights on the top rail the way that they are supposed to
  555. >After making sure they're on tight, and flip up correctly, you let her revert to 'geist form
  556. >The change is noticeable immediately
  557. >You see that her eyes are no longer the dull red and slightly glazed over color that they were
  558. >Instead, they are much brighter red and clearer as well
  559. >The only thing that kept her eyes from being completely perfect were the tears that were forming at the corners of her eyes
  560. >She bolted forwards and hugged you as hard as she could, burying her face into your shoulder
  561. >You just simply wrapped your arms around her shoulders
  562. "Th-thank you, Anon. This is one of the best things you've ever done for me. Now I can finally shoot and see better too."
  563. >"Anything for you Selene. Now, we're going to have to dial those in for you, so it's going to be a little slow going for the first few shots until we've got things all set."
  564. "That's fine, just glad that I get to shoot."
  565. >The two of you let go of each other
  566. >Selene grabbed her mag and handed it to you before going to sit on the shooting bench, facing you
  567. >You go and sit down on the stool in front of her
  568. >She grabs your hand in hers and transforms
  569. >You load the magazine and close the bolt, chambering a round
  570. >Even though she's in rifle form and not up to your shoulder, you could have sworn you heard her contently sigh
  571. >You shoulder her and aim at the target you put up
  572. >"Ready Selene?"
  573. "Absolutely, so you do know that I can communicate with you when you hold me like this, eh?"
  574. >"Yeah, Lucya told me about it last Saturday. I'm going to fire you now, alright?"
  575. "Alright, let's see how well you do."
  576. >You aim with the sights on the target for a few seconds before squeezing the trigger and firing
  577. >You hear Selene's excitement surge through your mind
  578. >It makes you smile, yet you're not about to stop
  579. >You looked through the cheapo pair of binoculars that you purchased just for this purpose as well
  580. >The first shot was off a little, so you made an adjustment to the sights and continued shooting
  581. >You made it through the first 10 rounds and took a few seconds to readjust the sights before laying Selene down on the table in rifle form
  582. >Within seconds, she transforms; laying face up on the table, staring blankly to the roof of the covered area the benches were in
  583. >Her breathing was a little shallow and you could see a little bit of sweat forming at the edges of her brow
  584. >"You like?"
  585. "Holy. Shit. That was amazing. Let's keep going!"
  586. >She holds the empty magazine out at you
  587. >You laugh at her enthusiasm and get about reloading the magazine
  588. >A few magazines worth later, and Selene is sweating and short of breath
  589. >She removed the leather jacket and corset of her outfit before the last magazine and unzipped the catsuit down a little bit
  590. >You looked at her and smiled
  591. >"Had enough for now?"
  592. >She was able to catch her breath enough to answer you
  593. "Yeah, I think we can call that good for now."
  594. >"Alright, I'll start packing up while you take a few minutes to recover, okay?"
  595. >She nods and wipes her brow with the back of her hand
  596. >You go about putting the leftover ammo back into the ammo can that you brought and also put the magazine back in Selene's case
  597. >You take those two things, and your other ammo case her sights were in to the car and placed them inside
  598.
  599. >Walking back to Selene, you see that she put the corset back on, but had her coat folded over one arm and left the catsuit unzipped a bit
  600. >You smile at how good she looks again and she of course notices
  601. "You know I can make this far worse for you, right?"
  602. >"Oh, I know, but not right now at least, alright?"
  603. "Yeah, sounds good."
  604. >You get in the car and Selene sits down in the passenger seat
  605. >You get the car started but Selene puts a hand on your arm as you're about to shift into reverse
  606. "Hey, thank you for everything today."
  607. >"No problem Selene, I'm glad that I have you."
  608. "Same, which is why you're getting a name."
  609. >You blink
  610. >"A name? But I have one already."
  611. "No, you misunderstand. Vampirwaffen give their shooter a name after the first time that they've been shot. So that's what I'm going to do for you. Think of it more like a nickname than anything, but one that gets used all the time and you can't argue or change."
  612. >You chuckle a little
  613. >"Alright then, Selene. What is my new name?"
  614. "Hmmm....let me think..."
  615. >"You wouldn't have mentioned it if you hadn't thought of anything, so what is it?"
  616. "Oh, that's what it was! Your new name is Bloodbag!"
