Crossfire Intermission 1

"Lardiel," Asarias called from behind. The Seraph was still looking at the huge screen in front, not even bother facing the Throne or the Cherubim.

"What is it, brother?"

"The Main Battleforce has already arrived and within a matter of days, we have already reclaimed a large amount of territory." He paused. "But, we haven't won the battle for Immaculate Heart, yet."

"That is expected." Lardiel replied. "We are not capable of ending wars within a week, brother. That is absurd." He glanced sidewards, but not facing the Throne directly. "What's the status down below?"

"A Ragtag Team of Protektovare Recon has retrieved a valuable piece of data from the Fortress-Cathedral located in the islands of the Darkest Light. The Legion of the Immaculate Heart was supposed to be present in this conflict but it seems like they disappeared. Just like the Legion of the Divine Cross, they were expected to have been lost or fallen."

Lardiel nods as he shifted his gaze back to the screen. "What else?"

"The 4th Battalion of the Legion of the Holy Fire and the Support Auxilia has reclaimed a large portion of the continent of Hazzak. In the other side of the globe, Freedom Islands was successfully defended by the Archangel Raziel and his cadre. Most of the attacking Demon Legionnaires has retreated when the Archdemon that leads them was killed by the Archangel in an epic standoff."

"Archdemon?"

"Bifrons, sir. The Demon of Geometry and other mathematical things."

"Right," Lardiel dismissed the weird subject. "Press on."

"That's all, Brother."

"Any losses?"

Asarias paused for a brief moment before continuing. "The Assault on Trejiya has been a huge failure, Brother. Not only did the Triclaw Legion failed to reclaim the land, the Akrobolos Infantry that were sent was subsequently lost in the battle to the last Malakh."

Lardiel fell silent. He did not respond for few minutes. Trejiya was a Militarized city that would be of strategic worth. Taking it from the enemy's hands should be a top priority if ever he wanted to win the battle for the Defense of the Immaculate Heart.

"Well," He finally broke the silence. "No battles ever fought without losing. It's part of winning." He turned, finally facing the Throne completely. "Update me about the Battlefield Situation so that I could coordinate the units to their next target."

"Yes, Brother." With that, Asarias left.

Lardiel returned his gaze back at the screen. He silently watched the allied and enemy formation change in the map.
