BACKGROUND :

jo honestly had a hard life. born in a family of 3, jo had to go through many, MANY trials to be where she is right now.

born in a family of 3, her parents were CEOs of a big company, meaning they always came home stressed. having jo was honestly a bad idea to them, as they had no time to take care of her. her mother was korean, while her father was canadian.

when jo was in kindergarten, her relationship with her parents worsened. she even got amazing grades, and was in even in the top honor to make her parents love and notice her more, but whenever she would tell her parents, they would brush her off and sometimes even shout at her because they had just come home from work, meaning they were stressed, busy and tired.

one time, jo had failed a test severely due to her not following the instructions, and even worse, her parents' business deal didn't work, causing them to release even more of their anger to jo. screaming and hitting and punishing her, they had decided that it would be best if they were to leave jo at an orphanage since they weren't ready yet and didn't have time, and would probably just abuse their daughter if they kept her.

when they left her at the orphanage, you can say jo was confused as heck. she didn't know where her parebts were, and missed them a lot, no matter how badly they treated her. she was really quiet at the orphanage, often just sitting at the corner or playing with a toy alone.

one day, an actress from korea visited vancouver for a business trip. the actress was already married, but sadly couldn't give birth because of a health issue, because of this, she hoped that she would find a baby she liked in vancouver as well. visiting jo's orphanage, jo was the first child there to catch her eye, especially for her unique korean - canadian looks. falling in love with her, she adopted her and took her back home to korea.

though being quiet at first, jo soon warmed up to her new parents, because of them treating her so nicely and giving her what she wanted AND needed. though, she spoke only english to them since she didn't want to learn korean since when she tried to learn something and show it to her parents before, they would get angry. since her parents understood that jo didn't want to socialize, they learned english themselves and homeschooled her for her elementary and a few high school years.

during those elementary and high school years, they let jo explore her interests as well, often letting her take any other additional lessons she wants. she was especially interested in science since long before, but also began becoming fascinated in the history of korea and their music. she also got really really interested in dance and volleyball, becoming one of her most loved things to do, and becoming really good at it.

because of her parents' support, she finally tried learning korean at the age of 15. though she still talked in broken korean, her parents thought it was time for her to finally start to go a school. though she was so nervous about it, she did, and there, she had the TIME OF HER LIFE. she was always able to be herself and have fun, even though she can get sometimes confused about some of their words.

she was known at school to be the cute foreigner there, and often did aegyo to her friends for fun, making them have a soft spot for her. she was also considered smart, especially since she loved the subjects that people usually hated, and was good at it. she was also a BIG girl crush there, since she was also a bit boyish, and was kind of straight - forward with her conpliments, making people think she was a flirt when she's pretty much not.

one day at school, she arrived WAY too early, and expected to be alone. in the classroom though, was na jaemin, her classmate, and was alone. of course, he was attractive to jo, and got really nervous to be in a room with just them. with jaemin's bubbly personality, of course he approached her and introduced himself, making jo feel awkward inside. deciding to brush it off, she tried to be her usual energetic self, and socialised with him. from there, she became close friends with jaemin, but not just that. her crush also developed on jaemin, often sending him letters anonymously.

of course, her friends liked to tease her about it, sometimes even approaching jaemin and tells him that someone has a crush on him, before getting pulled away by jo. but now, jo has a pretty much perfect life in her eyes, and wouldn't give it up for the world.

  — she's pretty athletic, and can honestly blend into a group of guys pretty well. she's not shy with boys, except for her crush, and honestly enjoys hanging out with them. she's pretty much a really big and popular girl crush because of this. she also often beats up her friends if they try or dare reveal to jaemin that's he's her crush.

  — being a foreigner and only learning the language recently, jo often gets confused with what she says and what other says, saying a small 'eh?' if she gets confused. though it can get stressful to her, her friends don't seem to mind and help her out.

• dolls ( porcelain )
  — she may keep up with plushies, but she absolutely HATES dolls, escpecially glass or porcelain ones. after watching movies like ‘The Boy’ or ‘Annabelle’ she’s pretty much traumatised and threw away every porcelain doll she had ( except the cute one her grandfather gave her for her birthday ).

   — as much as she finds them to be super cute, she's kinda traumatised by the time a cat from school landed on her head and almost scratched her.

• watermelons
   — ok, this is a bit weird. she's actually ok with the taste of watermelons, but they taste really weird too, making her stay away from eating them. plus, she hates the fact that there are so many seeds in it.

• vegetables
   — as healthy as she is, jo absolutely hates veggies. she’s kinda like a child reacting to vegetables if she sees one and someone forces her to eat. she just kinda pouts there and refuses to eat. if she goes on a diet, she eats fruit instead.

• jellybeans
   — she doesn’t know, it just tastes pretty weird and not really sweet unlike what she likes. she also got traumatised by that gross jellybean challenge which her and her friends did called bean boozled.

   — goddamnit, she hates bullies, especially physical ones as they remind her of her horrid pasts. if she sees a bully, her vision either goes black and beats them up, or she reports them immediately, not wanting to start drama.

  — ok, basically, she hated worms since before, but it worsened after this experience : she was in the car with her mother, and her mother bought some vegetables. without realising it, there were worms in the vegetable bag. when jo looked at the pillow, a worm was on the pillow, making her scream and freak out.

  — now, she doesn’t do this to attract attention or to be all cute or whatever. she just bites her lip for no reason whatsoever. she finds it somehow calming at times whenever she’s frustrated.
