  1. There as only silence within the atmosphere of the bright, white room, lit by the fluorescent lights on the ceiling. The room was entirely empty with nothing but a metallic bed and a cart full of tools next to it. The tapping of boots echoed through the room as a figure strolled into the room, dressed in a black cloak and wearing a green-mask. The mask seemed to peer down at the frail-looking girl that was now strapped to the bed unconscious. Three white-masked ANBU had been waiting for their superior to appear and after seeing the nod of the green mask, they simply vanished from sight, leaving only the two remaining inside the room.
  2.
  3. It was about time that the effects of the poison had worn out and stepping closer to the girl, he touched her gently with a gloved hand, lightly taking two fingers and prying an eye apart. He saw the dilated pupil as it came into the contact with the bright light above and he knew well that the girl would be able to see nothing but the silhouette of the ANBU because of the extremely bright lights. The only familiar things she would notice was the cold, merciless tone of the Hayashi's voice that rang in her ears. First faintly but the sound becoming bolder as she regained her consciousness, "Wake up, Uragara Yukii."
  4.
  5. She had been having a nice dream, or so she thought. Yuii awoke cold and stiff, as if she'd bee dragged limp across half a village, dumped on a cold table and strapped down. And, imagine that, that was exactly what had happened; not that Yuii was quite aware of it yet. So, yes, she;d forgotten what it was she had been dreaming about but at least she wasn't feeling panicked when her eyelid was peeled back and an ominous silhouette demanded she wake up.
  6.
  7. It might have been really scary if her auntie wasn't standing right there, smiling encouragingly. Then again, it was the same smile she'd earned just before other terrible events.
  8.
  9. "Hiyah, my head hurts," she whined, trying to pull her hands up to cover her eyes but found them bound. She turned her head, squinting at the straps then back at the silhouette. Now she was feeling quite nervous, because being trapped was the one feeling Yuii didn't like.
  10.
  11. Well, she was definitely awake now.
  12.
  13. "Ne-neh? Anbu-san untie me, please? My nose is itchy!"
  14.
  15. The door opened soundlessly, and besides the Zephyr appeared the Reaper, clad in similar clothing if only on the darker end. A girl was strapped down before the two Anbu and the other guards, and the Gerudo wondered what it was this time. Another terrorist? Spy? He would find out. Yukii. He would remember it for later, as he hadn't caught her name the first time. The first time - of course - was when Shiryou and her accomplice were apprehended. They had been relatively quiet since then, so it was understandable that the public eye was diverted from the ordeal. But Kami did not make a habit of forgetting. "Why're you here?" The girl had been trained perhaps. To catch Daichi in an illusion was no easy feat, Kami assumed.
  16.
  17. But she ran away, instead of inside of the village. And instead, she opted to talk her way in. What did that mean? With no interest of being lead in some maze, the Gerudo waited for the girl's reply impatiently.
  18.
  19. Hopefully bringing in these suspicious criminals into the ANBU compounds and having them strapped to beds ready for the commander's interrogations would be helpful to his promotion. It was like Musha being a chef who prepared meals for the ANBU Sennin to simply sit upon and feast. Following the traditional procedures that he stuck to on all occasions of interrogation, a shining object was unsheathed before the eyes of the girl, making the grinding noise of metal against metal as the blade exited into the air. The same familiar voice whispered in the air, "From now on, you will be interrogated and if there is even a hint that you are telling anything other than the truth, I will cut your fingers off one by one. But if you cooperate, you may leave without a scratch. It's a simple deal."
  20.
  21. "Let's start off with the basics. Name, age, and country of origin. You say that your aunt was the previous Raikage, Kagetsu Kiyo. Is that correct? Then are you a shinobi of Kumogakure?" It was right after this question that the commander, who had heard of this new, came into the room, looking startled at first despite the fact that Musha couldn't see what was under that black mask. Zephyr could simply read the surface thoughts of the man. The man remained silent so that the girl could calm down and answer the questions given to her, one by one. He was on full alert though, because the Hayashi had witnessed the skills of this seemingly small and frail female child. Don't judge a book by its cover.
  22.
  23. "Do I know you or something?" Yuii answered, irately pulling at her binds again. It wasn't her fault she didn't recognize a masked and cloaked man. He didn't sound familiar, not like mr. stick up his butt anbu man. Man who tied someone up when they were being so cooperative?
  24.
  25. "H-hey I don't remember agreeing to that one!" Yuii protested, squirming against the table with renewed vigor. If he'd said that he was going to shop her fingers off if he thought she was lying then she might have walked away and tried again later. Actually, no, she shouldn't lie to herself; Yuii would be here either way.
  26.
  27. But that didn't mean she had to like it. Couldn't they have just had someone eat cake in front of her? That would have worked so, so much better."I really need my fingers you know! Those don't grow back! M-mednin 101 right!? C-can't you just- U-uhm... Yuii. My name is just Yuii!"
  28.
  29. She paused, licked her lips and gauged if that was gong to earn her a lost finger. Truth was truth, she didn't really have a last name,"You don't have a big sister do you? Big sisters tell you that you catch more flies with honey! I'm twelve and three quarters we think, Nee-chan goes by the day I came to her. I don't know where I was born and I've never lived anywhere long. I told you, I'm nomadic!"
  30.
  31. And judging by her mix of accents she wasn't telling a lie on that. She didn't sound like a Mist nin or a Cloud nin; like nothing.
  32.
  33. "Nee-chan worked for Auntie for a year, we came here with her for that big meeting thingy," Yuii continued to babble, curling her fingers up extra tight just in case they weren't patient enough to hear the whole story. "Jo-nii came too. Nee-chan used to be a Mist-nin and when we met Ren-nii and Tatsu-nii she decided to go back. My sister is gunna marry Ren-nii, he's the Mizukage." Annnnd, getting back to the original question, "I'm not a Mist-nin, I'm not a Kumo-nin, I'm just me. Actually...."
  34.
  35. A wicked little smirk spread across Yuii's face, "I never got to use big jutsu like that before. It was pretty bad ass right? Right?!"
  36.
  37. His eyes narrows. Musha called her Yukii, but she said her name was Yuii. He noted that she had hid her identity then, or was hiding it now. It wouldn't make much sense to hide it now, given Musha was still here. What she had to say about her visit to Konoha matched what Kami was looking for. She was the girl that the Hokage saved during Shiryou's and her accomplice's arrest. It was an unnecessary feat, given Kami's seven servants had taken out Shiryou without risking injury to the girl, but Kami had chalked it up to upholding public reputation. Hokage was the hero, after all, it was the Anbu that did the dirty work. He wondered if the girl knew who had killed her aunt. Given that she ran from Daichi, she probably didn't.
  38.
  39. "Why are you here." His question was more of a statement, as if asserting the fact that she had left one unanswered. Was it to get revenge for the Mist Nin? Was it to get revenge for the Raikage? Everything happened for a reason. A girl didn't just walk back alone to a village where her "Jo-nii" was arrested unless she wanted something. Turning, the Sennin paced back and forth in a demeanor struck with boredom.
  40.
  41. A wanderer? Or even possibly a rogue shinobi. It seemed that her relationship was complicated with Cloud and Mist, if she was speaking the truth. But in this situation where her fingers could fall off at any moment, Musha didn't see the reason why she would be lying unless she held some special ability to regrow body parts. The commander asked the same question again after the girl had missed to answer his questions and the green-masked ANBU stood still gathering up his thoughts. What the hell was big meeting thingy? The Kage Summit? After the would answer the Sennin's question, the Hayashi would continue with another, "During our first encounter, what did Nakata Daichi say to you within the ring of fire?"
  42.
  43. Oh, that question hadn't been rhetorical? Well than. "I want my Jo-nii-chan!" Yuii answered, her cheeks turning an angry red. She hated talking to their blank, emotionless masks, she hated that they had her tied down and she really hated that they were asking her stupid questions she;d answered over and over already. Didn't anybody talk anymore? What hadn't Anbu-kun told the other Anbu what was going on. "You made a big mistake, my Nii-chan isn't Joku, I want him back!"
  44.
  45. If she'd had her limbs free Yuii would have stomped her feet but as she was she could only glare. Man, what she would have given to read their faces, it was really starting to bug her. She wanted to be free too, free would have been nice. The looming threat of chopped fingers was crushing down more and more. She was expecting there to be a hard question sometime in all this and then they'd just chop one off.
  46.
  47. "The icky scorpion man asked if I knew Shiryou. She's uhm, Jo-nii's sennin but I didn't know anything else. I only saw her once, the day all the crew men took away my Jo-nii. When I said that he let me go and then made the fire go away. " Yuii blinked, puzzled by it herself, "I dunno why he asked, I don't know anything about her except she was pretty. I'd like if you let her go too, cause I bet Jo-nii would be happy."
  48.
  49. Shiryou and Joku... As an ANBU who takes charge of most of the investigations around the village, the Hayashi knew well about the stories of these two powerful shinobi. They were listed as number one targets on the bingo book for a while but it was recorded that they were now in the Fire Prison for life. But the question remained in this. Why did Nakata Daichi, after closing off Musha from the girl, ask her about Shiryou? And why did he decide to attack her despite her answer? Was it because this Yuii had seen her before or because she was close acquaintance to Joku? How was Daichi involved in this? Something was definitely hidden in secrecy with this case and it would be up to the soon-to-be captain to find out. Sighing softly yet quietly so that nobody would hear or notice, the green mask continued to speak. He had the slightest intention of freeing her until he got everything he wanted.
  50.
  51. "You said before that Nakata Daichi was the same man who killed your aunt, the Raikage. A Konoha Sennin killing the Raikage and the village not knowing of the fact. Were you on the scene? Is this a fact?"
  52.
  53. "Does your village keep its head in the ground? Everybody knows Nakata Daichi killed my auntie," yuii answered, ending with a derisive little snort. As it turned out she had been on the scene of what one could call an assassination but she had arrived too late to do much more than gape and try to off some solace to a very new spirit. Not that she wanted to remember anything of that day but for the sake of keeping her fingers so be it.
  54.
  55. "Sunuke-kun was there too, and Yun-chan, and they witnessed the entire thing. Your fifth was the one who identified him as the culprit, he was reeeeeeeeeeally upset too cau- ow ow ow, fine I wont say it like that. Ow!" the ghost version of Kiyo had latched onto her neck and pinched really hard, it was really mean. "Sunuke-kun and and auntie had a... relationship? I don't know! How do I even say- Unconsummated, non-professional and concealed relationship? Ugh, stop using big words."
  56.
  57. Man she really wanted to rub her neck, this sucked, "Anyhow, Kirigakure and Kumogakure are reaaaaally mad at Leaf right now. Daichi-kun killed some Mist shinobi too and they put a bug bounty on his head. I think... they might know he's here too. They say politically that it is kinda shooting yourself in the foot because Konoha is 'announcing itself as condoning what were at first considered the murderous and frightful actions of a missing nin, thus implicating yourselves. You say Leaf doesn't know, that stinks awful bad of a cover up to me." Ugh, more big words.
  58.
  59. Yuii finished by looking between them, nt that there was much to go by for approval. She didn't mind talking about this stuff, better than talking about herself.
  60.
  61. There was no comments or reply from the ANBU Sennin as he remained rather silent. But before Musha could verify the words of the child, the black-masked Sennin exited the room as if he had finished hearing everything and was leaving the rest to the Hayashi. Disturbed by this newly attained information and even more disturbed that it may be the truth, Musha turned back to the strapped girl. She mentioned that Sunuke, the previous Hokage, was also on the scene and a girl named Yun, who, seemed to be a Konoha shinobi. These two witnesses needed to be located and interrogated for the purpose of validating the story. Taking note of all of this into his mind, the ANBU sheathed his blade.
  62.
  63. Cloud and Mist. If Daichi had indeed committed these crimes, the relationship with the two villages would most definitely be severed, which was not a good sign. Did Kami know about this? Mugen? Or was this all an intended feat, all planned out by the Hokage and the Sennins? Conspiracy? Betrayal? Something big was going on here and Hayashi Musha had happened to accidentally run into it. Now that this happened, he couldn't simply just ignore it and turn away. The truth had to be revealed.
  64.
  65. Peering at the girl who had demonstrated her power before, Musha wondered why she obeyed the ANBU's demands and had not acted upon her emotions and escaped. This act made Musha think that she was closer to telling the truth than lying. Was she really an innocent child cursed by demonic powers or a demon disguised in the form of a child? The cold tone of voice spoke once more, "Yuii. If you are lying, you will be have to deal will the consequences. But as your story hasn't been verified yet, I have no reason to hurt you." It was then that his headset crackled to life. The message was from and ANBU force that was deployed to interrogate some of the prisoners within Fire Prison. The voice reflected urgency and explained that prisoners Joku and Shiryou had escaped from the Fire Prison. The eyes beneath the green-mask widened as he heard this and from his calculations, it would be most likely that the prisoners would be heading out of the village. Yet, remaining calm, he replied, "Quickly pursue the prisoners and keep track of them. Do not engage until ordered. I'll have the ANBU Sennin notified. Over and out."
  66.
  67. Looking down at Yuii he told her, "It seems like the Joku you are looking for escaped our prisons and is heading out of the country." Musha had purposely told Yuii that they had already gone outside the village, by simply changing a word from the fact. Musha had extracted the necessary information from this child and it was better that she was out of reach from anyone else, especially Nakata Daichi. He waited for a reaction.
  68.
  69. Yuii visibly relaxed as the other unknown man left the room and when the blade went away she signed her utter relief. Now it was just her and the stiff man she was beginning to understand. If she thought of him as blank faced and emotionally set like the mask he wore then it was easier to deal with him. She still wished for a face, any indication that she was doing right.
  70.
  71. She stared back at him, wondering if there was another evil thing he had planned or it this was all there was to being interrogated. Then again, as auntie had said, interrogation was only difficult when you were trying to keep secrets.
  72.
  73. "Oh thank goodness Anbu-kun. Then there wont be any hurting today."
  74.
  75. But now that her head was clear and the sword no longer threatened to take her fingers from her hand Yuii simply sat up. She'd panicked at first, thought she was trapped and even now it took her a moment to realize what she'd done. The binds had just been... binds? Frantic little giggles bubbled to the surface, laughter at her own stupidity. She was so used to pretending to be normal she forgot to be herself when it came down to it.
  76.
  77. "G-gomen. I didn't want to lay down anymore." Yuii squeaked out, quickly sitting on her previously threatened fingers. Just in case he got any ideas she wasn't about to offer them up easily this time.
  78.
  79. "Escaped!? Uwaaah, then I have to go!" Yuii squealed, jumping down from the table. She practically vibrated with excitement as she tried to keep herself in one place long enough to get an ok. Why she was even asking when she could have just been through the wall was a mystery. "Wah! Anbu-san, then I don't need to talk to the Hokage at all! Please, where is my bag? Jo-nii will definitely escape and if I don't hurry I'll never catch him!" Endless optimism, good nature and energy; this man had been ready to cut her fingers off but still she treated him like a man of good intentions.
  80.
  81. Because she believed in herself and her own good intentions. Yui could only be suspicious of men and expect them to try and hurt her if they had proven to be violent. This Anbu had been kind enough to find another way, as long as she showed a doctored up booklet. He was not rash or cruel, just terse. Since she held no bad intentions then he definitely would let her go too, or so she reasoned, because he was that sort of gentleman.
  82.
  83. Or, maybe not, but there was always a plan B for when philosophy and people reading failed.
  84.
  85. "I-I mean I'm sorry that your prisoner is escaping but that is my Jo-nii and I promise when I find him we'll send evidence that there was a mistake!"
  86.
  87. And at his word she'd be off.
  88.
  89. Suddenly, the Hokage's voice boomed over the Headset of each Leaf-nin who was tuned into the general frequency.
  90.
  91. 'We got two very dangerous missing nin on the run. They just broke out of the Fire Prison. Proceed with caution and only engage with either a Sennin or the Hokage with you.'
  92.
  93.
  94. The necessary information was extracted and there was no more need for this girl or at least no more need for her to be caged up in the room. Musha had ordered a squad of ANBU to keep an eye on her so that she would leave the village instead of wander around the village. But he was certain that she would go after her Joku after hearing that he had left the country. Unstrapping the still strange girl, he took a mental note of everything that had taken place and let her free.
