  1. This part covers the Direct Damage, AKA Burn exam, and a few events when you first get to Obelisk Blue. I first show off all 100 completed Timed Duels, which is necessary at this part in the game.
  2.
  3. Duel Exam
  4. - Made a couple hiccups during the Written Exam. You just gotta do it until you get all 10 correct.
  5. - Now that all the Timed Duels are completed, you'll see that every time you have an exam, you'll get one in the higher levels, between numbers 81 through 100.
  6. - For the Practical Exam, you have to make a separate deck entirely for Burn. Here is the deck list I aim for, and some notes on how to play it:
  7. Deck #3: BURN
  8. Monsters: About 12-14
  9. All copies of Des Koala
  10. 1 Magician of Faith
  11. 1 Marshmellon
  12. All copies of Mask of Darkness
  13. 3 Mystic Tomato
  14. All copies of Needle Ball
  15. 3 Nimble Momonga
  16. 1 Sangan
  17. Spells: About 13-16
  18. 1 Book of Moon
  19. 1 Burst Stream of Destruction
  20. 0-2 Dark Room of Nightmare
  21. 1 Graceful Charity
  22. All copies of Meteor of Destruction
  23. All copies of Ookazi
  24. 1 Pot of Greed
  25. 1 Premature Burial
  26. 2 Upstart Goblin
  27. All copies of Tremendous Fire
  28. 0-2 Wave-Motion Cannon
  29. Traps: About 10-15
  30. 1 Ceasefire
  31. All copies of Just Desserts
  32. 1 Ring of Destruction
  33. All copies of Secret Barrel
  34. Fill the rest of the deck with the following until you have 40 cards: Jar of Greed/Threatening Roar/Thunder of Ruler/Waboku
  35.
  36. The idea of Burn is to inflict damage outside of battle. This exam isn’t particularly hard if you understand the concept. So much so, that I don’t have the exact number of copies of certain cards you use here. If you bought packs regularly, you hit a bunch of commons that just so happen to be good for this exam. So don’t fret if you don’t have many copies of things; you’ll make do somehow :)
  37. There isn’t much need to attack with your monsters, just use their effects when necessary. So, you mainly set monsters and use whatever effects they have. Des Koala & Needle Ball are just burn cards, add them if they’re in your Trunk. For Marshmellon, the AI will never attack it unless they have Big Bang Shot. Mask abuses the various Traps you run. Tomato thins the deck and searches Sangan. Nimble is another thinner.
  38. The Spells are either just genericly good or random Burn cards. You won’t ever play a normal game with this deck, so literally playing a few Burn spells is enough for this kind of duel. Even Ookazi is a good option here!
  39. The same mindset goes for the traps pretty much. There’s a lack of Torrential and Mirror here; for obvious reasons, getting rid of your opponent's monsters isn't a factor in a Burn strategy. T-Roar, Thunder, and Waboku are just to make the game go longer; generic stall is good here.
  40.
  41. With over 100 total wins, and all 100 time does done, you get the ranking of Elite Duellist. With that higher rank, you can go into Obelisk Blue.
  42.
  43. So after choosing Obelisk Blue, an event triggers immediately where Crowler forces you to duel Zane. It's very important that you switch decks before doing this, since Burn is not suitable for normal duels.
  44.
  45. 1st Duel
  46. - You pretty much never see him summon the ritual BLS, that was really cool lol! Really easy fight regardless though.
  47.
  48. There's two new duelists in Obelisk Blue: Torrey and Damon. So on Saturday I just try to find both their question marks. Then on Sunday, I get three wins between the both of them. They're the only ones that you plan two duel as long as you're in this dorm. You duel Fontaine or Crowler if they aren't around (unluckily).
  49.
  50. 2nd Duel
  51. - Damon played Heavy and Snatch in the same turn like a jackass lol, but all went well.
  52.
  53. 3rd Duel
  54. - I go for the Stein play early, since having both Tornado and MST meant that I was pretty protected.
  55.
  56. 4th Duel
  57. - I didn't open all that well, so this duel went on kinda long.
  58. - If I used Tomato to summon Sangan, then used the Torrential that I kept in hand, that probably would have won the game faster. However I do like showing off cool combos with Metamorphosis :)
  59.
  60. So The next Monday after joining Obelisk, and event will trigger with Torrey if you have Jinzo in your deck. If you reject his offer, he'll just keep asking you. So you have to accept and agree to duel. However, he forces you to run a really crappy deck, so it's much faster to surrender the duel. You still join his little crew regardless.
  61.
  62. Buying cards
  63. Here are my notes on what you buy here:
  64. On Tuesdays, you’ll be buying what’s known as the “Expert” Packs. These unlock once you become an Elite Duelist. There’re 4 of them that rotate week by week, so for the next 4 weeks you’ll buy each Expert pack.
  65.
  66. 1. Expert III: Buy around 20 packs to get to mid 80’s, then buy 1-2 packs each to get to 95%
  67. 2. Rituals: Paladin, White Dragon Ritual, Relinquished, Black Illusion Ritual, Manju, Sonic Bird, Senju
  68. - Buy around 16-17 packs, looking for these cards. You want to 2-3 copies of Paladin, Relinquished, and their spells. Pay attention if they are knew; if they aren’t, you have at least 1 copy already.
  69. 3. Effect Monsters: Witch of the Black Forest
  70. - Spend 3 for it here.
  71. 4. Basic 4-B: Elemental Hero Clayman (III), Elemental Hero Sparkman (III)
  72. - Buy about 15-16 copies of this pack, getting hopefully to about 90% and having a bunch of copies of both HERO’s. Buy the pack in singles to complete & get up to 3 of either card.
  73.
  74. - It's planned to buy Witch in Effect Monsters here since it's cheaper. But I bought it earlier, not a huge deal.
  75. - To be honest, I really didn't know the best way to buy the packs. I wanted to save time and buy them in mass, so I just kept using save states until I reached a decent completion percentage. You see me search through the packs, since it's important that I get the cards listed.
  76.
  77. Torrey Event
  78. Not long after joining his weirdo crew, you get into an event where you have to duel with the guy, since he's possessed or something. But it's just his normal deck versus your Machine deck, so it's not hard at all.
  79.
  80. 5th Duel
  81. - Because of my own ring, my life gets below 5000 early. So I can't depend on a Stein play. Luckily he doesn't get anything going, and I draw into a Heavy Storm.
  82.
  83. And with that, most of the interesting things in Obelisk Blue have been completed. The next few videos will just be dueling a lot and buying cards.
  84.
  85. Overall wins: 120
  86. This video: Zane (1), Damon (2), Torrey (2).
  87. Total: Syrus (10), Chumley (8), Jaden (9), Fontaine (10), Chazz (9), Zane (9), Titan (2), Banner (10), Bastion (10), Pharaoh (1), Crowler (8), Blair (10), Alexis (9), Alexis' Lackeys (2), Gerard (9), Damon (2), Torrey (2).
