- The time in a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time any% speedrun spent sitting through cutscenes is 9 minutes and 0 seconds. I measured it using Cosmo's 18:10 post-commentary. I chose this version because it's a lossless video recording uploaded to YouTube, in which he only added his commentary to the audio track and left the video footage untouched (except for cutting off a part of the credits, which is unimportant for this measurement).
- I don't consider every break from gameplay (such as going through loading zones, animations from obtaining items, textboxes from talking to NPCs or mini-cutscenes from bottles) to be a cutscene. I will only count larger breaks from gameplay as cutscenes. I don't think mashing through text during a cutscene is actual gameplay, and I measure every cutscene as if the text-mashing is perfect.
- Here's a list of the moments I think are cutscenes:
- Time from pressing A to start file until gaining control of Link in his house
- Time from entering the loading zone in Links house that goes to Kokiri Forest until gaining control of Link after Saria's cutscene
- Time from entering the loading zone in Hyrule Field to Kakariko Village until gaining control of Link after the cinematic that shows off Kakariko Village
- Time from the black screen from the reset appearing until the first frame you can hit start to go to the title screen (Note: I used the first frame Cosmo made the title screen show up in his 18:10 PB. He could've been a frame late, and if he was, this measurement isn't correct. It's impossible to see if he was though.)
- Time from losing control of Link to watch the Deku Tree cutscene until gaining control of Link again
- Time from entering the loading zone from Kokiri Forest into the Deku Tree until getting control of Link after the cinematic that shows off the Deku Tree
- Time from hitting A to talk to the Deku Scrub in B2 until gaining control of Link again (Note: One textbox is different here. Even though there's a blue arrow showing at the bottom, mashing has no effect on that textbox and it ends when the Deku Scrub is done hopping away. I've been told that the time the Deku Scrub spends hopping away varies depending on both the location of the Deku Scrub and the location of Link when Link starts talking to it. Therefore, the length of that particular textbox depends on gameplay and can't be measured too precisely.)
- Time from entering the loading zone that triggers the cutscene of the stone slab closing in Gohma's room until gaining control of Link again
- Time from black bars appearing after watching Gohma until gaining control of Link again
- Time from killing Gohma until gaining control of Link again
- Time from entering the loading zone from the collapse room into the cutscene that starts the tower collapse until gaining control of Link again
- Time from entering the loading zone from the final collapse room into the cutscene of the tower collapsing until gaining control of Link again
- Time from entering the loading zone that triggers the cutscene of Ganon rising until gaining control of Link again
- Time from giving the last damage to Ganon to end the first phase until gaining control of Link again
- Time from giving the last damage to Ganon to end the second phase until gaining control of Link again (Note: mashing through the textbox slowly doesn't matter in this cutscene.)
