SOFT ISEKAI THOUGHTS✨

one of my favorite things about this au is imagining the span of time where shinji and shirou are preparing for having a family, because they’re constantly learning about one another and this situation only makes these tiny lessons all the more important. realizing all of these small things about one another that make them fall more in love.

like how shinji doesn’t sleep as well as time goes on, so shirou makes sure there are plenty of pillows around and will help shinji adjust and get comfortable on his side. how shirou can hear shinji’s breathing beside him and know right away if he’s sleeping restfully or not.

the evenings where shinji squirms and murmurs softly in his sleep are almost always the same nights that he wakes up hungry at some ungodly hour — though hearing shinji’s sleepy gravel voice and feeling the gentle tap of his fingers on his chest, he can’t help but wake up with a smile.

shinji loves to watch shirou cook, even when he feels the guilt of having woken him up at 3 o’clock in the morning. every movement shirou makes almost looks rehearsed, because its so fluid, but it’s also so obvious how much care is behind every action. shinji feels so incredibly loved knowing that shirou is happy to cook just for him, and being able to taste that so clearly in the food he makes keeps shinji in awe of him.

he’s so grateful for their late night/early morning pancake dates, where they cuddle side by side and shinji delicately feeds shirou bites while shirou focuses on the happy sounds shinji makes while he enjoys his food. it’s quiet and dark aside from the light in the kitchen and it’s perfect that way.

when shirou finds himself overcome by nerves and worry about his role as a father and how he doesn’t feel quite ready and this doesn’t feel quite real, he can’t help but look to shinji, who exudes this ethereal calmness somehow. when shirou feels like he’s beginning to fray at the ends, it’s by simply watching shinji go about his day that gets shirou feeling like maybe everything will be okay after all. shinji has never once shown a negative emotion about carrying shirou’s children, since it feels like the result of years of working hard to be the best omega he can. to shinji, carrying shirou’s children is his reward. to shinji, carrying shirou’s children is what makes him more beautiful than ever. the more time shirou spends watching him, the more he slowly comes to realize this.

and my, is it humbling.
omegas are truly amazing.

it’s true that shinji has been exceptionally cute while expecting, but translating his charming new mannerisms is on another level. watching how shinji deals with discomfort yet always wears a smile, or watching how his extra calming aura effects the others around him. even archer goes soft and pliable in shinji’s presence after long, simply because the vibes are just too strong to be contended with.

each time shirou does this emotional back and forth with himself, he learns something new about shinji that makes him fall that much more in love. shinji has never shown regret — only confidence and gratitude at the opportunity to have a family with shirou. it just makes him want to spoil shinji more, which is always welcome, but especially so as time goes on. so when the two of them are cuddled up together he can’t help but keep watch for any small movements or sounds that might signal to him that shinji needs something. while it’s shinji’s impulse to smile at everything right now, he does get better about putting a name and level of urgency to his moments of discomfort.

his honesty always comes with soft touches of reassurance or kisses and it makes shirou wonder how he got so lucky. shinji can’t help but seem lighthearted when he explains the source of his problem, (can’t get comfortable enough for sleep; puppies are rowdy; body is sore etc) because to him, this is the job he was born for. that doesn’t stop shirou from fussing, of course, but he realizes that the more he fusses over shinji, the more okay he feels about everything.
