  2. Jade Mercier frowned some at the fact that they weren't allowed to fight him quite yet, their first chance against him would be as a team? The male would cross his arms, letting out a soft sigh before standing, seeing as none of his teammates would head down Jade would gladly be the first. He took it as an open challenge to any of them, though really he just wanted to be the first to fight, he didn't mind it so much at all or who it was against. "How about we just get it over with, since we're all so eager, I'll just wait for one of you." Jade walked down to the small arena, his hands behind his back as he looked to the three, curious just which would be the one to challenge him... He figured it would be Cynthia, given their friendship.

  4. Xanthus Lyon would watch Jade as he walked down to the arena, the smile on his face growing as he would admit... This was going to be interesting, the whole team seemed rather interested in facing off in the first place, his only concern was that the others didn't really care for the young boy. Many of the teachers received information on their students, Jade being one of those to graduate at the top of their classes, his social skills though were something to be worked on. "Good, good, one more and we can get this underway. If none of you come down, I'll have to volunteer miss Elena." With things starting to get underway, the large Faunus would step off to the side of the arena, waiting for his sparring partner to enter the arena to get things started.

  6. *Ella grinned, though that faded a little the moment the good professor used her name, her entire train of thought kind of grinding to a halt in record time. She hadn't even mentioned that to the rest of the team! Actually, she tried to ignore everything she could about her past and her family. She only ever used her actual last name as it was easier than trying to find reliable forged documentation, and it wasn't -that- rare. Still! She had picked up something of the same thing from Cynthia that Vivi had, and though she didn't particularly want to see what would happen there, another part of her thought that perhaps it'd be good for them to get this out of their system sooner rather than later, not really knowing the demon girl's plan. The addition of a crowd and the school's staff on hand maybe made this a little less likely to get anybody killed, too. So unless Cynthia wouldn't take up the offer, Ella, eager as she was to cause some mayhem, would hold back for the next couple of moments.*

  9. Cynthia Verde was the first to jump out of her seat she immediately straightened her face and uniform, a habit of hers she admitted was a setback at moments. Taking a breath she steeled herself once more from just running into the arena out of excitement at the chance to teach Jade a lesson. At first she would take slow drawn out steps her heels clicking against the floor, it was the first time she wore heels in awhile but it seemed like such a perfect moment to be wearing them the intimidating clicks as they contacted with the floor and the fact she easily strode around in them meant an even easier time fighting in them. After a minute she would speed herself up climbing up the stairs to the other end of the arena placing her hands behind her back as well, the stance giving her quite the posh look as well mainly accentuated by the bun she had formally tied in her hair. "You're not walking out of this unscathed you know that right?" She would comment in her cold voice it seemed she was already preparing for the fight with a sort of meditative mindset and it hadn't even started yet.

  11. Jade Mercier would stare at Cynthia as she volunteered herself to be the one who faced him in the first session. Jade would give a grin as he felt there was no one else that he'd rather face off against in his team, these two probably needed this. Her words were responded with a grin, Jade had quite high hopes for this fight, one on one he did hold quite an advantage with his fighting style. "I think this will turn out a little different than you're hoping." His head would turn towards the Professor, curious if he had anything more to add, rules and such. Of course, he knew this was a sparring session, though to him this was a time to prove himself to his team just why he was made team-lead. Once it seemed things were about to begin, Jade would raise his hands, palms open as he faced Cynthia, his demeanor practically changing as he looked a little more serious than before.
  12.
  13. Xanthus Lyon looked towards Cynthia as she immediately left her seat to face off against the young man, a soft smirk on is fae as he could tell there was something going on between the two. Their words for each other only confirmed his suspicion, he would step closer to the two as they both seemed eager to get this underway. He would look between them as they faced off, while they seemed eager both were rather surprisingly patient and waited for him. "Alright, we've already gone over this, but just a reminder. Once your teammate's Aura is gone, the fight is over. Truly there is no winner here, this is just a simple sparring session to help you understand just how your teammate fights. Got it?" He asked the two as it was rather quite clear there was some animosity between them. Once the two confirmed his words, he would take a step back, finding the edge of the arena to referee from there. "Begin!"

  16. Cynthia Verde took a step back with her left foot leaning her body forward there was a soft metallic ring as she unsheathed a dagger, she'd wait for the second when he got comfortable to the fighting style of just the one. With a well-practiced maneuver, she'd flip the dagger in the one hand so the blade faced her arm the hooked edge facing out towards the floor. When Professor Lyon went over the rules once more she'd just give a nod as a response her eyes transfixed on Jade as he seemed to go to his combat stance when the Professor boomed the matched start everything seemed to go silent for her, like it was just her and Jade in the room. Jutting into a full sprint she'd get close faking to go to his right but would quickly slide left in an attempt to get out of his reach with her small frame putting herself as low into the floor as she could go, throwing out her arm to hook the edge against his uniform and bring him to the ground she planned to keep the combat close and personal not giving him any space to think or move while she nimbly dodged between attacks it all seemed to go so well in her head but practicing it would turn out to be quite different.
  17.
  18. Jade Mercier didn't move as the match started, seemingly for good reason as Cynthia was quick to charge him instead. Jade had waited for her to get into a certain range before he finally moved, using quick steps to find his way around his opponents was something he excelled in. Her fake out had only barely fooled the male, as she would fake right he would move left only to realize she would turn left towards him. Close and personal was where he lived in a fight, a hand quickly moving out to slam into her arm attempting to hook him in, his spare hand facing her as he was ready to parry with this one as well. For now, he kept on the defensive, wanting to learn as much as he could about her before he would care to use his Semblance. If his block would connect, he would make quick steps to the right, getting out of the range of her daggers. Even with her smaller frame, adding her daggers she would have a little range over him, Jade taking that into account as he would make sure to stay just out of her range. He wanted to make sure he would have a moment to react should she move in again.

  21. Cynthia Verde seemed to only smile as he slammed his palm into her arm pinning it to the arena floor for the time being she'd use the given leverage to spin off her feet into a crouching position taken advantage of the position to lunge towards him a quick aim to slash her dagger across his midriff putting enough force behind it in hops to hold his guard while setting up a spinning kick to his neck, whether it connected or not she would use the leverage from his shoulder to throw herself over him. Once over she would use his upper back to kick away landing gracefully behind him in the same pose she started the match with this time the blade of her dagger facing the floor. "Heh you can only play defensive for so long before I pick away at the little shield and win the boring away," She would quip hoping to rile him up for a more interesting fight it was boring always being on the attacking side but it did it's job most of the time.
  22.
  23. Jade Mercier was once again quick to guard the attack, his palm aimed for her wrist on its way in as he was easily able to block her once again, getting a little comfortable with blocking her... That is until he felt the force from her kick against his neck, feeling her kick away from him he'd let out a frustrated growl to her words. She did have a point though, as much as he hated to admit it even mentally, which was what bothered him the most. But he would take the moment of her taunting to calm himself back down, he wouldn't let her get to him during their first fight. "Perhaps you should worry about yourself and not your opponent." He stood his ground once more, stepping forward quickly before he would step to her side, stopping as quickly as he moved, throwing a quick attack as he would turn his upper body to attack once again at her abdomen. With his turn, he would swing his body around, beginning to move around to her other side. Should even one connect, Cynthia(tab 0) would learn his attacks held a little more power behind him than it let off.
  24.
  25. Cynthia Verde let out a happy coo as she saw him take her advice quickly she would parry the first attack with her dagger throwing his arm away to dodge under only to bring herself closer to the abdomen punch the force behind it was mostly absorbed by the invisible force that was her aura but it was still easily felt simply causing her to cackle at the feeling. Using the pause from the hit she would easily thrust her dagger towards his gut the blade impacting the same force mere inches from gouging into him with its hook edge her smile remaining as she shifted to her other side using this movement to unsheath her second dagger flipping it in hand so the blade was facing outwards instead of towards her body giving easy access to stabbing and slashing during her attacks the twin daggers polar opposites in their appearance.

  27.
  28. Jade Mercier would admit, her little cackle, as she took a hit, put an odd feeling in him, while it wasn't fear, the odd feeling made him a little uneasy. The hooked edge of the blade would run along his side, his aura thankfully blocking it from penetrating his body at all, but he could practically feel her killing intent with her attacks. But this time he did not move away, keeping the close distance as she would remove the second dagger, taking the opportunity to attack once again while she was only able to hold a half guard. He started a small combo, hitting her side once again, focusing on her lower torso as his palm would close nearly into a fist. His arms moved quick, nearly striking at the same time without losing any force behind them, aiming to hit her twice before he would quickly turn his upper body, this time he aimed for her neck. This was the first time he ever cared to go toe-to-toe with anyone in such a manner, perhaps it was his anger he felt towards the teen.

  31. Cynthia Verde made a feeble attempt to block the forceful attacks taking both attacks into her abdomen reeling from the impact only to recover in time to intercept the jab towards her neck stopping such momentum from the attack causing a bone shattering rattle in her right forearm. She ignored the pain it only seemed to fuel her lust for the fight if her blissed expression was anything to show from it hooking the dagger around his arm she managed to hold in place the masochist would twist attempting to immobilize it in such close quarters combat while thrusting the hilt of her second dagger into his chin to disorient. Whether it connected or not she would once again use the leverage of her legs to kick away performing a backward summersault into a crouched position it seemed she loved to fight low to the ground it gave her space to maneuver around large targets. Disturbingly enough in front of where she rolled was a gouge into the floor showing she slowed herself with a dagger and it seemed to be quite sharp, "I was expecting... fewer limitations when we eventually fought but this is just as close..." Snickering she left out some of the more finer details she had planned and looked down in time to see her aura crackling, the color seemed to fizz showing she was halfway depleted mainly due to the way she blocked attack taking the brunt of the force to gain an offensive advantage from being so close.
  32.
  33.
  34. Jade Mercier gave a soft grin as he too was finally starting to enjoy the fight, regardless of how much he despised her, this was rather fun hitting her. Though her over-enjoyment of the fight still have an uneasy feeling, unable to shake it as he grabbed his arm with the dagger. "Shit..!" He mumbled to himself as he knew something was coming, his head tilting back as far as he could lean to avoid the attack so narrowly. As she distanced herself from him, Jade wouldn't let her gain a moment as he had decided this was quite enough of this fight. Rushing forward as she slid to a stop, Jade would feint another swing of his hand, but in a quick moment stopping on one foot as he kept his moment going with his upper body to flip himself above her while he brought down the other. He used the force of the flip to help increase the power of his attack, focusing a little more on giving her little to no time to defend herself. "I think that was the closest to a compliment you've given me yet." While he still saw her words as an insult, even just taking it back a little was enough.
  35.
  36.
  37. Cynthia Verde was beginning to stand to once again get a push off she was caught off-guard taking the full force of his attack to her head rocking her to no end to the point she toppled over onto the arena floor. It seemed for a moment like she was finished until an even more menacing laughter could be head from her using both daggers for support she would move herself to a semi-standing position a trickle of blood running down the side of her chin from where she bit into her tongue merely from the impact to her head a hand clutched to her side from all the shots he gave to her midriff. Giving a signal she was fine to Professor Lyon and to ignore the blood she'd motion to the fact her aura was still intact...barely if Jade was so interested in learning her semblance her mind sang with the idea now was the time to show him. Her eyes only seemed to give a creepier aura to them as she stared daggers into his very mind sharing the very same pain he inflicted on her body into his the sting of her cut tongue, the throbbing headache after the blow to her head, bruised ribs lining every spot he hit he would feel what he dished out. Taking advantage of the sudden stunned Jade she'd dart forward her free hand grasped dangerously close to his throat not bothering with her weapons any longer she knew the fight was over but just wanted to cause him discomfort and suffering. "You wanted to know what my deal was? I cause other to...suffer," She'd easily drag out the last word as a venom-filled hiss her words directly in his ear as she whispered after a moment she'd release him and slump to the floor laughing it was a desirable defeat as the last of her aura faded and left her exhausted next to him panting to catch her breath some evidence of blood still lining her mouth, it seemed the more pain she endured the more crazed she got to the point of near maniacal behavior. With some assistance, she would be helped off the raised area that was the arena to her seat assuring everyone she was fine just needed some time in her calmest voice.

  40. Xanthus Lyon was ready to step at the moment that he'd seen Cynthia(tab 0) bleeding, frowning softly as she would tell him to hold on... She did have reserves, that much he knew, but after even that he doubted just how much further she could continue. But it was as Jade cried out in pain did he realize just what was going on, his eyes staring at the teen who seemed out for revenge, letting out a sigh before closing his eyes. "Not so friendly sparring with those two..." He'd have to remember that from now on as it would seem Jade and Cynthia(tab 0) were quite the rivals, almost going as far as saying, enemies. As Cynthia(tab 0) got her point across to Jade he would finally step in, knowing her Semblance practically drained what she had left, helping the girl up to her feet before offering a smile. "You both did well... Perhaps... A little far. Now, back to your seats. Time for the remaining two members of team JECL to take their places." This time... He could only hope for a little more friendly of a sparring session.
