  1. The 3rd Book of Nephi
  2.
  3. --------------------Chapter 1--------------------
  4.
  5. Traditionally composing of 2nd Nephi chapter 25
  6.
  7. 1 Now I, Nephi, will tell you what that means to me.
  8.
  9. 2 Many of the things Isaiah taught were hard for many of my people to understand.
  10.
  11. 3 I, Nephi, have not taught in the same way Isaiah did.
  12.
  13. 4 My people at the time of Isaiah were very immoral.
  14.
  15. 5 I write to my people and to all those that will read my words so that they may know these words again.
  16.
  17. 6 My people, listen to my words; even if the words of Isaiah are not easy to understand, they are plain to all those that ponder them.
  18.
  19. 7 I now speak plainly to you.
  20.
  21. 8 I love speaking plainly because to my people so they learn.
  22.
  23. 9 I love the words of Isaiah, because he is my ancestor, and I have seen these things among the inhabitants of The Great City.
  24.
  25. 10 The inhabitants of The Great City know the lessons Isaiah taught are true, but they do not live them.
  26.
  27. 11 I, Nephi, have not taught my children to live like the inhabitants of The Great City.
  28.
  29. 12 I have taught my children right from wrong and how the inhabitants of The Great City have chosen wrong according to what Isaiah taught.
  30.
  31. 13 Now I will give my own teachings, which will be very plain so no one can misunderstand me.
  32.
  33. 14 One day everyone will understand and follow the teachings of Isaiah.
  34.
  35. 15 We all are of worth and those that believe that anyone is not, to them will I speak particularly:
  36.
  37. 16 I know that everyone is of great worth.
  38.
  39. 17 One day will we understand one another.
  40.
  41. 18 One generation has been destroyed in The Great City because of their immorality, and they will pass this immorality down from generation to generation.
  42.
  43. 19 Many leaders throughout the years have begged them to give up this immorality, telling them that they would destroy themselves.
  44.
  45. 20 My father was one of these leaders, but his life was threatened for his pleading and so he left The Great City.
  46.
  47. 21 I tell you these things because of what I have pondered in my heart.
  48.
  49. 22 I believe that one day The Great City will destroy itself and they will no longer be great until they learn to help one another.
  50.
  51. 23 They will have wars and rumors of wars because they are a contentious people.
  52.
  53. 24 They reject moral teachers that want to lead and help them because they are immoral and stubborn.
  54.
  55. 25 They kill moral people who want us work together.
  56.
  57. 26 I am happy to encourage our people to keep working together, because I have seen how it helps and makes us all happier.
  58.
  59. 27 The Great City will one day be destroyed because they reject this simple truth: gloom will come to those that don't work with others.
  60.
  61. 28 One day The Great City may work together and rebuild the city.
  62.
  63. 29 When that day comes they will be joyous and full of love. They will have pure hearts, clean hands, and look forward to helping one another.
  64.
  65. 30 It will be a marvelous work and a wonder among those inhabitants.
  66.
  67. 31 Now my brothers, I have spoken to you plainly so you cannot misunderstand.
  68.
  69. 32 Our ancestors freed themselves from slavery, were hurt in the wilderness but healed one another, and helped each other survive.
  70.
  71. 33 I know these things because they were written and handed down from generation to generation.
  72.
  73. 34 Now the things that I write will be handed down from generation to generation.
  74.
  75. 35 The things that we write will be to persuade our children and brothers to love, help one another, and live moral lives.
  76.
  77. 36 We know that if we try our best this is how we live a good life.
  78.
  79. 37 Now, my people, you can be stubborn, that is why I have taught these things very plainly to you, so that you cannot misunderstand what I'm saying.
  80.
  81. 38 The lessons that I have taught will stand as a testimony against you.
  82.
  83. 39 They are good enough to teach any man how to live a moral life.
  84.
  85. 40 The best way to live a life is to love, help one another, and live moral lives.
  86.
  87. --------------------Chapter 2--------------------
  88.
  89. Traditionally composing of 2nd Nephi chapter 25
  90.
  91. 1 I fear that my descendants will not listen to these words and that after many generations pass away there shall be great wars and fights among my people.
  92.
  93. 2 I fear that they will want to kill the moral people among them, like how The Great City tried to do to my father.
  94.
  95. 3 However, those moral people will overcome, because love conquers all in the end.
  96.
  97. 4 Immorality will be crushed by mountains, carried away by whirlwinds, and buildings will fall and crush it.
  98.
  99. 5 Immorality will be no more.
  100.
  101. 6 Those that live immoral lives will feel as though thunder, and lightning, earthquakes, and all sorts of destructions surround them.
  102.
  103. 7 Such a time would cause great pain and death.
  104.
  105. 8 I hope that it never comes to pass.
  106.
  107. 9 Moral people that listen to the words of their ancestors instead of destroying them will not die during this time.
  108.
  109. 10 They will live because they love, help one another, and live moral lives.
  110.
  111. 11 If the people do not listen to the words of their ancestors, they risk destruction.
  112.
  113. 12 They seek the rewards of their pride and irresponsibility, often by owning much land.
  114.
  115. 13 They preach their own wisdom so that they can take advantage of the poor.
  116.
  117. 14 They are full of envy, strife, and malice.
  118.
  119. 15 They create secretive organizations to hide the truth and deceive others in order to benefit themselves.
  120.
  121. 16 Their lives will be much harder since they do not learn from the very same experiences that their ancestors lived through as well.
  122.
  123. 17 These things are so for not only our people, but for everyone.
  124.
  125. 18 All should strive to live moral lives, whether they be black or white, slave or free, male or female.
  126.
  127. 19 We are all family, we are all one people.
  128.
  129. --------------------Chapter 3--------------------
  130.
  131. Traditionally composing of 2nd Nephi chapter 26
  132.
  133. 1 Isaiah taught us that
  134.
  135. 2 "If the day comes that all the lands of the earth are drunk with immorality, they will reap what they sow.
  136.
  137. 3 Their reward will come like thunder, an earthquake, a great noise, a hurricane, or a roaring fire.
  138.
  139. 4 All the nations that fight against morality will live nightmares.
  140.
  141. 5 They will be like a hungry man who dreams he is eating but when he wakes up he is still hungry.
  142.
  143. 6 All you immoral people, how are you not shocked at this? Are you blind?
  144.
  145. 7 You seem drunk, and not from alcohol!
  146.
  147. 8 You seem unable to understand!
  148.
  149. 9 You are like an illiterate person trying to read.
  150.
  151. 10 You cannot think how your actions have consequences because of your immorality.
  152.
  153. 11 There are people who say they are moral, but their hearts are far removed from all morality.
  154.
  155. 12 They care more about how they look to others.
  156.
  157. 13 Gloom follows those people.
  158.
  159. 14 They like to turn things around. They are like clay trying to mold a potter."
  160.
  161. --------------------Chapter 4--------------------
  162.
  163. Traditionally composing of 2nd Nephi chapter 28-29
  164.
  165. 1 My brothers and sisters, I, Nephi, have written the way I think you should live your life.
  166.
  167. 2 I wanted you to know the benefits of living this way, and the consequences of not living this way.
  168.
  169. 3 The lessons and history that will be written out by our people be very valuable to everyone, and especially to our descendants.
  170.
  171. 4 One day, many people will say "Look at me! I am truly moral!", and they will not be.
  172.
  173. 5 Many of these people will fight with one another over who is more moral.
  174.
  175. 6 They will ignore what is right and teach what they want instead.
  176.
  177. 7 They will try to get others to follow their own path.
  178.
  179. 8 There will be people who will say it will be ok to not be moral since we are all going to die soon anyway.
  180.
  181. 9 There will be people who will teach false morality who are actually very vain and prideful.
  182.
  183. 10 These people try to hide their immorality and evil deeds.
  184.
  185. 11 These people are truly corrupt.
  186.
  187. 12 They rob the poor when they build expensive temples.
  188.
  189. 13 They rob the poor when they wear expensive clothes.
  190.
  191. 14 They harass the gentle and hurt them because of their pride.
  192.
  193. 15 They are very stubborn, prideful, and immoral. They are far from morality.
  194.
  195. 16 They like to blame their short comings on others.
  196.
  197. 17 Gloom will surely follow these people.
  198.
  199. 18 They put aside valuable morals for selfishness, and hate doing good because they see no value in it.
  200.
  201. 19 However, those who they have wronged will speak out against them.
  202.
  203. 20 In the end, these immoral people and institutions will tumble to the earth and the world will be a better place without them.
  204.
  205. 21 One day, many of these people will regret the things they have done and no longer do them.
  206.
  207. 22 Others will say "Nothing is wrong, everything is alright" and think that living an immoral life isn't immoral at all.
  208.
  209. 23 All of them will reap what they sow one day.
  210.
  211. 24 In short, gloom follows those who shudder and are angry at truth and morality.
  212.
  213. 25 Those that built their house upon a rock receive truth and morality gladly.
  214.
  215. 26 Those that built their house upon the sand shake and fall at truth and morality.
  216.
  217. 27 Those that put all of their trust in immorality instead of morality will inevitably live an unhappy life.
  218.
  219. 28 However, there will still be many moral people.
  220.
  221. 29 The lessons that we and our moral descendants will teach will hiss forth to the whole earth as standard to everyone.
  222.
  223. 30 Many will say that it is unnecessary as there are other teachings on morality.
  224.
  225. 31 They can have their teachings and we will have ours.
  226.
  227. 32 The words of the books aren't important, it’s the lessons we learn from them.
  228.
  229. 33 Different people have different perspectives and different ways of interpreting on the same things and express them differently.
  230.
  231. 34 It is good to learn from many teachers so we can widen our perspectives and gain more understanding.
  232.
  233. 35 When we learn from each other we become one people.
  234.
  235. --------------------Chapter 5--------------------
  236.
  237. Traditionally composing of 2nd Nephi chapter 30
  238.
  239. 1 Now, my beloved brothers and sisters, I have something to tell you.
  240.
  241. 2 I, Nephi, do not want you to believe that you are inherently more moral than all people.
  242.
  243. 3 We are no different than any other people.
  244.
  245. 4 Those who turn away from their immoral deeds and become moral are just as moral as we are when we do the same.
  246.
  247. 5 I hope that the book that we will write will be able to communicate all of our lessons on morality.
  248.
  249. 6 I hope that our people will read our book and re-learn these lessons if they forget.
  250.
  251. 7 They will learn where they came from and how they came to be.
  252.
  253. 8 They will learn the ways of morality.
  254.
  255. 9 They will have the knowledge of their ancestors restored to them.
  256.
  257. 10 They will be happy.
  258.
  259. 11 Everyone who reads the book will be happy because they will live by the lessons of morality in it.
  260.
  261. 12 If everyone was moral and treated each other with dignity life would be a paradise.
  262.
  263. 13 Again, I want to tell you, you reap what you sow.
  264.
  265. 14 There is nothing that can be hidden forever.
  266.
  267. 15 Now, my beloved brothers and sisters, I am done speaking.
  268.
  269. --------------------Chapter 6--------------------
  270.
  271. Traditionally composing of 2nd Nephi chapter 31-32
  272.
  273. 1 I, Nephi, will stop talking to you now my beloved brothers and sisters.
  274.
  275. 2 I can only write a few predictions for the future and my brother can only write a little as well.
  276.
  277. 3 The things which I have written will nearly suffice.
  278.
  279. 4 However, I want to speak a little more.
  280.
  281. 5 I will speak to you plainly as I have always done.
  282.
  283. 6 I am happy when things are put plainly.
  284.
  285. 7 If you want to effectively communicate, you have to speak in a way that the listener will understand.
  286.
  287. 8 Humble yourselves and lead by example. It the most powerful teacher.
  288.
  289. 9 With all of your heart, strive to live a moral life, turn away from immoral deeds, and do not do so hypocritically or for glory.
  290.
  291. 10 When you do this, you will live a happy life.
  292.
  293. 11 If you stop living a moral life, your life will be filled with gloom.
  294.
  295. 12 Practice the things which are taught here.
  296.
  297. 13 They were written down so that you could know them.
  298.
  299. 14 Now, my beloved brothers and sisters, this is the way to live a happy life.
  300.
  301. 15 I feel as though you are wondering how to live a moral life.
  302.
  303. 16 Why do you ponder these things in your hearts?
  304.
  305. 17 Don't we all inherently know how to be moral?
  306.
  307. 18 After I have spoken to you, if you cannot understand them it is because you have not thought about them enough.
  308.
  309. 19 You must find the light, and only you can find it for yourself.
  310.
  311. 20 We live a moral life by living a moral life.
  312.
  313. 21 Meditate on these things.
  314.
  315. 22 Meditate always, as it helps calm your mind.
  316.
  317. --------------------Chapter 7--------------------
  318.
  319. Traditionally composing of 2nd Nephi chapter 33
  320.
  321. 1 I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which were taught among my people.
  322.
  323. I am not a great writer, I am a better speaker. I can speak in a way that resonates with my audience.
  324.
  325. 2 There are many who will ignore the lessons on morality and think they're not important.
  326.
  327. 3 However, I, Nephi, regard what I have written to be of great worth, especially to my people.
  328.
  329. 4 I have long meditated on how I can help them.
  330.
  331. 5 Though I am not perfect, my lessons have power because they persuade to do good.
  332.
  333. They teach the lessons I have learned. They teach morality.
  334.
  335. 6 They very plainly speak harshly against immorality.
  336.
  337. 7 I love speaking the truth plainly and living a moral life.
  338.
  339. 8 I love helping my people.
  340.
  341. 9 I love helping people who are not my people.
  342.
  343. 10 I am happy because of the good life I live.
  344.
  345. 11 We will all reap what we sow one day.
  346.
  347. 12 Now, my beloved brothers and sisters, and everyone around the world, I speak to you, as the voice of one from the grave: Farewell.
  348.
  349. 13 To those of you that will not live a moral life as I have pleaded for you to do: one day you will get what you deserve.
