  2.
  3. >Knocking on the door, you patiently waited with the grocery bag at your side.
  4. >Your suit, somewhat akin to hazmat, was stuffy and constricting, and you shifted while waiting for your client.
  5. >After a few moments, the door opened, an elderly woman on the other side.
  6. >"Oh, hello dearie! Is it Tuesday already?" She spoke as you brought the bag up to chest level to hand to her.
  7. "Heya, Mrs. Sycamore! And yep. I brought your butter, your milk, and your eggs, but we were out of flour today so we deducted that from the total. I'm very sorry!" You responded as you went through the bag to show her, as well as producing a receipt.
  8. >"Don't you worry about it, young man! I can make do just fine until the next delivery. Speaking of doing fine, how are you doing? Adjusting well?"
  9. "Thanks for asking! I'm doing well enough, I guess. Still sleeping at the shelter, but I'm making decent enough money doing this that I might be able to start looking for a new place soon."
  10. >"Ah, I'm sure you'll find something nice. Meet anyone you know yet?" She asked with a kind tone.
  11. "Not really. Some of my customers look really familiar, but I can't place them. Don't really recognize any of the other people at the shelter, either."
  12. >"Well, hopefully you find someone soon. Now, what do I owe you?"
  13. "Oh, nothing. You paid with card, remember?"
  14. >"Oh, of course, that's right!" She jokingly slapped her own head. "Well, I already have this out, so I guess this is just your tip, then." She hastily pushed out a bill, which you took.
  15. >Inspecting it, you noticed it was a twenty dollar... well, whatever the equivalent to dollar was, bill. The face in the center was very animesque.
  16. "Woah, I can't take this, it's more than your bill!" You protested.
  17. >"Oh, hush. If I can't help a young man who's down on his luck, what am I good for?" She said with a sweet smile.
  18. "Geez, thanks Mrs. Sycamore!"
  19. >"It's not a problem at all! Have a nice day, Anon!"
  20. "You too, I'll see you on Thursday!"
  21. >Pleasantries exchanged, you turned to leave, noticing someone moving at the end of the hall and down the stairs.
  22. >Ah, well, must've been a tenant of the building. You follow suit and leave as well, taking the same stairwell they did and walking out into the sunlight.
  23. >Taking your time, you walked down the sidewalk, seeing several other hazmat suited individuals walking to and fro. People from your world who had also taken up jobs regularly interacting with the natural denizens, wearing suits provided by the government for the safety of both.
  24.
  25. >After a short stroll, you arrived back at the supermarket you were employed at, greeting your manager who was busy packing bags for orders.
  26. "Heya, Bo. Check it out!" You pulled out your crisp twenty, and pulled it taut a few times.
  27. >"Way to go, kid! I'm happy for ya. Sycamore give that to ya?"
  28. "Yepyep. She's a sweet old lady."
  29. >"That she is. Hey, if you wanna take a break, you should probably do that now. I'll have these orders ready in about fifteen, so you should be ready to go then too."
  30. "Don't have to tell me twice!" You made your way through the store and out into the back alley, where you normally took your breaks.
  31. >It was rare for anybody else to come back here, so you could take off your helmet and really have a breather.
  32. >Slumping down onto a box, you took out your phone. One of the only relics of the old world you had on you when you crossed, and barely functional, it was good for only a few things.
  33. >Swiping it open, you flicked past the several games you had to your gallery. Opening it up, you looked at the photos contained within.
  34. >That lavender haired lass, your Doki, Yuri. One of your only driving forces in this strange world; if you got transported somewhere else, it had to be where she was, right?
  35. >That's why you got this job in the first place; you could be content to sit in the shelter and wait for help, but you really wanted to surprise her. Get some money, treat her right whenever you met her.
  36. >Just gotta wait for the government to sort things out, and you can start looking for her.
  37. >"YO! ANON! BREAK TIME'S UP!" Your manager's hollered through the door.
  38. "GOTCHA! ON THE WAY!" You stood up, turning toward the door and the end of the alley.
  39. >There at the end was a stranger in a coat, hat, and sunglasses, looking straight at you.
  40. >Not quite knowing what to do, you gave a slight wave and put your helmet back on. In response, they turned and walked away down the sidewalk.
  41. >Kind of weird, you think, but continue to think nothing of it as you reenter the building and make your way to the front desk to retrieve your delivery. You go about your day as usual and complete the rest of your work, before returning to the home sweet home known as the shelter.
  42.
  43. >A dozen tents each with a dozen beds set up in the park you woke up in, the shelter housed many of the new residents of this world, including yourself.
  44. >It wasn't much, but it had food for breakfast and dinner, small portable restrooms for showers and waste, and beds to sleep in.
  45. >You waited in line for the shower, entered, rinsed off, got out, and changed into your casual clothes. Heading to bed early, you whispered goodnight to Yuri as you clutched your phone against your chest.
  46. >The following day proceeded as normal, making deliveries and such at work. On your break, however, you saw that stranger again.
  47. >You called out to them, but they just walked away again. You resolved that you'd tell Bo about it if you saw them a third time, not wanting to make a fool of yourself over nothing.
  48. >Finishing off your work for the day, you headed home once more and went through your nightly routine. Dinner, shower, Yuri browsing, sleep.
  49. >Another day of work went as usual, and you headed toward Mrs. Sycamore's door with her delivery.
  50. >Knocking, the kind old lady once more answered it with a smile.
  51. >"Oh, hello dearie! Is it Thursday already?" She answered, her greeting like clockwork.
  52. "Yep! And I brought the flour this time!" You smiled as you brought up the bag and showed her all the contents as promised, receipt on top.
  53. >"Wonderful! Oh, and I have something again for you today!"
  54. "Oh, you shouldn't give me so much, Mrs! I really appreciate it, but I'm doing fine."
  55. >"Nonsense, here! It's a small treat for you, since you're trying so hard." She handed you a cupcake.
  56. >Something about it looked... familiar. Did you sell this at the store?
  57. "Well, thank you, Mrs. Sycamore! It looks pretty good. Did you buy it anywhere?"
  58. >"No, it was homemade! I've been taking baking lessons recently to freshen up my skills, and I made those with my tutor this morning!"
  59. "Ah, I see. Well, thanks once again! I'll see ya next Tuesday!"
  60. >"See you then, dearie!"
  61. >You turned to leave once more, but decided to take care of this baked good once and for all before you left.
  62. >Ducking into a bathroom, you removed your helmet and ate the cupcake. It tasted absolutely spectacular.
  63. >Satisfied, you put it back on and began your short walk toward the supermarket.
  64. >Entering, you told Bo you were going on break, to which he responded with an affirmative and continued packing.
  65. >Taking your normal spot in the alley, you pulled out your phone once more. Noticing the crate below you was unlocked, with the lid open, you were careful not to adjust yourself too much lest you fell like a moron.
  66. >You swiped through Yuri photo after Yuri photo, when you noticed yourself feeling... less.
  67. >Your world grew dark. Tunnel vision set in, and your legs lost feeling. Then your arms. Then your body. Then your head.
  68. >You slumped back, and fell into a deep sleep.
  69.
  70. >"Fuck, fuck, fuck, get in the box you heavy sack of shit." The short, trench coated woman muttered to herself, pushing the young man's body with all her might up and over the edge of the crate.
  71. >The body falling inside the confines, she gently closed the lid and locked it back with her own padlock.
  72. >"YO! ANON! BREAK TIME'S UP, YOU READY?" A strong voice yelled from inside the store.
  73. >"Aw, shit." The girl sprinted off down the alley, ducking into an unseen corner.
  74. >"Anon? You out here?" The voice asked, now much closer.
  75. >A few moments of silence, the ruffling of trashbags.
  76. >"Guess he came inside or something." The voice said, before fading with the closing of a door.
  77. >The woman in the trench coat sighed in relief, removing her sunglasses to reveal two bright pink eyes.
  78. >She took her phone out of her pocket, and opened up the text messenger to someone named 'moni.'
  79. >Tapping away, she proclaimed that she had found Yuri's Anon and successfully captured him, but she'd need help getting him out in a few hours before her laced cupcake wore off.
  80. >After receiving a text back saying that she'd borrow her parents car and be there soon, the incognito Natsuki was satisfied. Sliding her phone in her pocket, she smiled and walked down the alleyway toward a nearby diner.
  81. >There, she'd get a bite to eat while she waited, and dream of what she was going to do with her Anon once Yuri retrieved him for her.
