Apron - The part of the stage that extends from the proscenium

Arena Stage - Stage surrounded by the Audience

Ball Peen Hammer - Hammer with a round end used to peen rivets

Band Saw - Saw with a band blade

Banana Board - Plywood board where the grain goes in the same direction

Batten - A wooden Dowel or Metal pipe that hangs horizontally

Bevel set - Used for transferring angles

Bobbinet - Transparent weave net

Book - Two flats that are hinged together like a book

Carpenter's Level - Bubble Level

Casket lock - Heavy Duty hidden lock

Caster - Wheels on the bottom

Combination Square - has a 90 degree angle and a 45 degree angle

Commando - Duvetyn fabric used in masking IFR

Cotton Duck - Cotton used in costumes

Crowbar - Thing Gordon Freeman uses

Cutoff Saw - Miter Saw

Cyanaocrylate Cement - Super Glue, **Dont mix with cotton**

Continental Seating - Seating thats in one big block

American Seating - Seating with an aisle running down the middle

Dato Joint - A notch cut in a piece of wood for another piece to slot into.

Dead Hang - Hung without any means to raiser or lower

Drop - Large piece of cloth that hangs

Emery Cloth - Abrasive fabric used for finishing metals

Flat - Framework covered in a thin material

Fly - To raise or lower with a rope or cable

Framing Square - A large L square

Grand Drape - The curtain that covers the proscenium arch

Grand Valence - Teasers or borders used to mask the upstage

Grid - Network of metal I beams that support the fly gallery

Gusset - A triangular piece of material used to reinforce a corner

Hand Prop - Prop handled by an actor

Hanging - Hanging a instrument in a certain place

Hardbard - Masonite or Particle board

Hard Teaser - A false proscenium

Hardblock - Used in rigging

Header - A small flat

Hole Saw - Used in a drill press to drill holes

Jack - Triangular brace

Jog - A flat less than 2 feet wide

**Joist** - Parallel beams that support flooring

Kerf - Material lost by cutting

Keystone - A wedge or rectangular piece of wood

Lag Screw - Large wood screw with a Hex head

Lauan - Skin Ply

Load in - Moving scenery into the stage

Machine Bolt - Metal bolt with a Hex head

Main Drape - Grand Drape

Mask - To block the audiences view

Masonite - Compressed wood pulp that's cooked

Miter Joint - An angled butt joint

Mortise and Tenon Joint - Square peg into a square hole

Mortise drill bit - Drills a square hole

Mullion and Mutten - Vertical and horizontal cross bar on a window

Muslin - Unbleached raw cotton

Newel Post - Post ant end of stairs that ends handrail

Orchestra Pit - Space between stage and auditorium

Orthographic drawing - a Top, Side and Front view

Piano wire - Thin, strong wire that durable

Pig - Slang for a counterweight

Pin Rail - Rigging system using pins on a rail similar to a ship.

Pipe Wrench - Wrench with serrated teeth for gripping pipe

Planer - Knife edged tool used for shaving wood

Plywood - Sheet stock made of laminated wood

Production Manager - Looks after the administration of a production

Raked Stage - Stage thats higher in the back

Revolve - Large circular platform that pivots

Riser - Vertical face of a square

Router - Used to shape the edge of wood
