- Circling the wreck, Porter could see no evidence of recent activity, other than the nests of several birds and some sort of ground lizard, judging by the tracks in the mud. He returned to the makeshift hole at the rear. It was too narrow for his substantial bulk. He grabbed the edges of the metal plating, feeling the muscles in his arms, shoulders, and chest pop and strain as he forced the hole wider, calling on his every reserve to lend him the strength required.
- The metal squealed as it buckled and bent, the hole widening before him. He could have used his lightsaber and been through in seconds, but that would serve as a beacon to anyone observing the gully from above—it was better to save that for when he was inside.
