- "Uuuugh!" Cucali's voice was far too loud for the library, and Paloma wasn't the only student who looked up at her. "Birdie, this is boooring!"
- "Please be patient, Cucali," Paloma said, looking back down at her calculus textbook. "I'm almost done. Don't you have homework too?"
- "As if I give a shit!"
- "You really should..."
- "Whateveeeer!" Cucali rolled up a piece of paper and flicked it at Paloma, trying to get her attention. Paloma patiently ignored her. "C'mon, let's blow this joint! Hey! Bird girl! I'm talkin' to you!"
- "I'm trying to study, Cucali."
- "Drag that stick outta your ass and let's go already!" She poked Paloma in the arm, trying to get her to look up from her textbook. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon! I'm not gettin' any younger here!"
- Paloma's tone was firm when she looked up at her. "Cucali."
- "What?!"
- "I'll be done shortly."
- "Nooooope! You're done now!" Cucali cheerfully reached over and grabbed Paloma's book.
- "What - hey!"
- Cucali captchalogued the book with a smug look on her face. "I'll give it back once we've done somethin' fun for once!"
- "Argh... Cucali! You KNOW my test is tomorrow! I have to revise!"
- "You know what you can revise, sweetheart? The makin' of a big boom, that's what!"
- Paloma threw her hands into the air. "Fine. Fine! I'll come to the quarry with you for a while. But after that, you've gotta give that book back!"
- "Yeah, yeah, yeaaaah." Cucali grabbed Paloma by the arm and started dragging her out of the library. "C'mon, let's go!"
