How did you get your mental illness?:

I got my illness through a brain lesion. I was fourteen years old at the time. I was frequently bullied in school. Constantly. Every single day. One specific day, I was getting bullied. It was usually just being teased and getting called names. But this time, I fought back. I retorted, said a comeback to them. The bullies (there were about four of them) got mad and attacked me. They pushed me against the wall constantly, I hit my head multiple times. I fell to the ground and blacked out, feeling a huge pain come down onto me. I then woke up in the hospital a couple of days later. I was told I had a brain lesion.

When did you get diagnosed with your mental illness? (What age where you?):

I had got my brain lesion when I was fourteen but wasn't fully diagnosed with fregoli delusion until I was fifteen years old. They noticed when I started seeing things differently as if every person was old and boring. The same.

How do you cope with your mental illness?:
AERA POV
I tried looking for something special about every person I met. Looked for something only they had, that was unique to them. I made out with a lot of guys to satisfy myself, trying to make myself believe that they were different. It really wasn't. I would usually mope around, trying to be happy. I would do all my favourite things. On top of that, I frequently cry a lot. Like a lot. Nothing worked, it only got harder as I got older. People would tell me I don't have a real mental illness and it isn't major. But it really is.

Background:
Aera was born in the city of Adelaide in South Australia. A true born Aussie but Korean. She lived a happy but quiet life in Adelaide, she had supportive parents and siblings. She was quite a social person, she could make friends with anybody she met. Even some random person at the playground. Although around when Aera was at the age of nine, things started to get tricky. As her siblings went into high school and she was starting fourth grade, her parents would frequently fight a lot. They would fight every day about the silliest of things. Like what to have for dinner or who would take the kids to school.

This made Aera feel sad, her siblings told her that her parents still loved each other. They just weren't compatible. Aera became quiet and she kept a lot of her problems to herself. She would do her homework by herself, her siblings made dinner for them. It was horrible. One day her parents had enough. They told their beloved children they were having a divorce. That day there was a lot of tears and screaming. Aera was still so young, she didn't know what was going on.

Her parents split up, her father stayed in Australia with two of her sisters (hyejin and hyunjin) while Aera went with her mother and her brother (donghae). Her mother moved to Korea, so Aera and her brother went along with her. She didn't enjoy primary school there, she was a loner. When high school rolled around, her life got harder. She was seen as a vulnerable target, at first, it was just her getting picked on. But it soon escalated to harsh pranks and name calling. She was even involved with a huge incident that one of the bullies pretended to be her friend, but in the end, it was all fake.

It all leads to that one fateful day, where Aera had that incident. Her bullies were picking on her, the same old same old. But Aera had enough of this, she fought back; retorted. The bullies got mad that she was getting stronger. They attacked her. They pushed her against the wall multiple times, her head hitting the wall. She was then pushed to the ground, and Aera blacked out.

She woke up in hospital, surrounded by her Mother and Donghae. From then on, the bullies didn't bully her. They left her alone. It was then a year later, she was diagnosed with Fregoli Delusion after her screaming one night, claiming there was somebody after her. Somebody that would change into different disguises and people. She dealt with this mental illness for years, she was extremely paranoid.

Aera was put into Camp Rose after her condition got worse. Aera hated Camp Rose, she feels like even more people are plotting something against her. She hates it because everybody always tells her that her mental illness isn't a real one and it isn't something serious like depression or anxiety.

aera is extremely gullible and susceptible to cruel pranks and things people tell her. she hates how gullible she is, but she can't help it. she just wants to be able to tell things apart. if they are lies or not.

yeah, she is a bit insane. on top of the whole, "everyone is the same person but in disguises. they are after me" thing, this had made her go a bit insane. she is obsessed with weapons and knives, she wouldn't hurt anybody with it of course. only herself.

aera is a really sensitive person. it is really easy to make her angry or even sad. she could be bawling her eyes out one night but then yelling at some wall the other. this is because of the harsh bullying she has experienced, it has made her soft and weak.

aera hates herself. she hates the way she looks. she hates the way she is. she hates her condition. she hates the things people tell her. she constantly wishes to be somebody else but no matter how hard she tries she can't die. there is always something holding her back.

aera may be sensitive but she is strong-willed. even in the toughest of times when she just wants to die she doesn't. she always believes there is something positive. she just hasn't experienced it yet. she believes good will come to her, maybe not now but soon.

when you first meet aera she is exceptionally quiet. she is usually a social person but all that's happened to her throughout the years has condemned her to her little shell. she doesn't like going out of her comfort zone. aera feels she doesn't need to make an effort on people.

aera is a really caring person. to those she loves and knows you can always count on aera for her to help you out or ask you how your day was. even if nobody really cared about her she believes everybody is worth being cared for.

As much as I heta Camp Rose and the people there I feel like it will help me. I feel like it can teach me how o identify people and think of the special things about them and hopefully progressively make my condition hget better. right now, its only getting worse.
