  1. Seth: Do you have a minute to go through this presentation which talks about it?
  2. Me: I'll peruse it.
  3. Me: As I do, may I ask another question?
  4. Seth: yes
  5. Me: Actually, I'd like to ask questions on the presentation in addition to the question I'm about to ask, which is.. What is the Mormon perspective on other religions of the world, even ones in remote areas of the world? As a relatively new religion, the faith would surely understand that spreading a set of beliefs is difficult given the size of the world. What do they think of religions and lack thereof in other parts of the world?
  6. Me: By the way, I find the presentation mildly condescending in that it doesn't require any intellectual stimulation, and also uses cartoon graphics. What is the designated audience to whom this presentation is often shown?
  7. Seth: We understand God reveals pieces of truth to people everywhere. But we have a fullness of the truth.
  8. Me: So do non Mormons go to the 'spirit prison' as described by this presentation simply based on their lack of faith?
  9. Seth: While it is true only Christ is perfect. Spirit paradise is for those who have accepted Jesus Christ and they are striving to do their best.
  10. Me: What happens to those who are unable to learn of Jesus Christ and therefore do not accept him due to their lack of knowing he exists? What of the followers of Krishna who live in desolate jungle regions of the world and can therefore never hear of Christianity?
  11. Seth: The spirit prison is not a place with bars and confinement like we think of here on earth. But rather a place they can learn about Christ and choose to accept Him.
  12. Me: And, were they to choose not to?
  13. Seth: They would stay there.
  14. Me: That's remarkably anticlimactic. Now, a few questions on that presentation you showed me, if you don't mind.
  15. Me: Is it shown commonly to children?
  16. Seth: No, it was made by another missionary I work with, and I use it with a wide variety of people.
  17. Me: You should let that missionary know it is littered with spelling and grammatical errors. Haha.
  18. Me: Back to the Mormon faith, then.
  19. Me: Is it something children are raised into, or like a select few others, are children brought into the religion when they are more cognitive and able to process the teachings?
  20. Seth: Would you like a link you can look at what is taught to children?
  21. Me: Sure.
  22. Seth: Here is the link
  23. Me: Thanks. Another question, if you aren't bothered-- what do Mormons consider a human being to be?
  24. Seth: We are children of God.
