「 MOTEL CALIFORNIA 」

PERSONALITY –
 + it's hard to sum ryu yeonjung up using one word. there are far too many aspects of her personality to consider. she doesn't fit into the stereotypes that people try to thrust upon her (like the stuck up rich girl, the bitchy queen bee, the teenage nutcase), and if anything, she's completely different to what people expect her to be. given everything that she's been through, she's become resilient and self sufficient. she's learnt not to dwell on the past, and to move on from it, as she never spent an excessive period of time grieving over the passing of her family members. she's also learned to become self sufficient, due to her father's busy work hours, and her mother's absence all her life. once her grandmother passed away, all the responsibility was left to yeonjung to raise herself in between her father's busy working hours. she's also extremely patient, and has been described as having the patience of a saint. she could spend hours repeating the same thing over and over again until it was understood without losing her cool (she probably would've made a great tutor if she'd ever offered to be one). she can sit for hours, trying to figure out something with little to go on, long after the normal person would have given up. she's also been known to radiate comfort, and other people feel relaxed whenever they're around her (which is sort of strange, because she's prone to stressing out). she's always carrying around bandaids and has a mini first aid kit on her at all times – even if she's not always sure what to do. she might be passing human biology wiht flying colours, but she has no confidence went it comes to injuries worse than a paper cut. she just carries it around, it's up to her friends to actually take the actions necessary if the the first aid kit is needed. she like to think that she's prepared for everything, and can almost fool people into believing she is, from the way she remains level headed during a crisis. however, she's usually flipping her shit inside her head, while trying to come up with a way to fix things. she works best on her feet, and comes up with some of her best plans in the span of about three seconds when under pressure. she can never quite recreate those same results unless the circumstances are life or death. she gets on really well with ARTEMIS, given that they're both around the same age, and both really good at thinking on their feet.

 + another thing to note is that yeonjung's personality took a turn after she discovered she was a banshee. a once open and energetic teenage girl, who was at the centre of her school's social circle was turned into a closed off one, wary of everything around her, now aware of the darker side to the suspicious things that happened around her. however, there are still some elements of this that are rooted in her nature. like the fact that she's still a rather friendly person who can quite easily strike up a conversation with anyone. sure this can be used to her advantage – striking up a conversation with a stranger to make herself seem less suspicious, or befriending witnesses or victims to find out what really happened is easy for her. but she's taken to keeping people at half an arms length. she's still not the best at pushing people away, as she craves both physical and emotional comfort, but she's not letting as many people in as she used to. there are also the girly mannerisms that she still has, like her love for fashion, and all things sparkly. she was once a queen bee of her high school, reigning over the hallways with smiles, befriending everyone, and there's still aspects of that ingrained  into her. she still dresses the way a queen bee would dress, expensive clothes and all, and if she were to walk down the hallway of a high school, her head held high, she'd people would stop and stare as she went. despite still being relatively young, yeonjung probably has the most dating experience out of all of them, given that she had multiple boyfriends before all the banshee shit went down (sure, most of them were only childish relationships where people were dating for the sake of dating, and only one of them was actually serious, but still). alas, her days of popularity are over, and she sticks to the background now, only speaking when spoken to, and not actively going out of her way to make friends with people. she's still a very careful person, most of the time, and despite her instinctual open nature, she has become significantly more closed off, and doesn't let people in as easily as she did before.

 + ryu yeonjung is a calculating and calm person. she's always been good at analysing what other people are thinking based on body language, and she's also begun to become suspicious of the intentions of those around her. she's good at making small talk with people, but as soon as conversations take a deeper turn, that's when yeonjung starts to clam up. she's a wary and careful person, and she doesn't want to accidentally spill too much information and have it used against her. her friend group has significantly shrunk in size from the way she used to be, but yeonjung is starting to like it better that way. she prefers having a few friends that she knows she can completely trust, than being on conversational basis with a school's worth of people who she doesn't know much about other than what happens on school grounds. call her overly suspicious, but can you really blame her given some of the stuff she's been put through? she's an extremely cautious person, and likes to weigh out all of the risks associated with everything she does, to make sure she doesn't get killed. it can occasionally be a bit excessive, like when she begins to weigh out to risks of running down to the corner store to buy instant noodles, but yeonjung supposes that's what is going to keep her alive one day. she's not one to make stupid and reckless decisions, and she's usually the one to stop her reckless friends from doing anything that might end with an injury, or worse, a death. it's probably more effective coming from her, anyway, given as she does actually make death predictions on a regular basis. it's probably not wise to ignore the advice of a banshee, so yeonjung actually has a pretty big influence on decision making, and risky activity, even though it's nowhere near that of the alpha. she's lowkey a stress machine, and is always worrying about something or other. it's probably her cautious nature, but she tends to get overly stressed easily when it comes to anything remotely dangerous (so, just about everything she does on a daily basis). her death predictions only make her even more anxious about the safety of her friends, because she's actually terrified to predict the death of someone she's close to, now that she actually knows that she's a banshee. she hasn't had to do it yet, but she dreads the day that it'll come because deep down, yeonjung knows it is inevitable.

 + one thing that ryu yeonjung is not, is sarcastic. yeonjung does not have a sarcastic bone in her body, and sarcasm is just not part of her nature. she's never been one to result to sarcasm in any situation, and any attempts to be sarcastic are usually really pathetic on her part. instead, she's taken to stating the obvious, which pisses off those around her just as much as sarcasm would. she somehow manages to be a person you WANT around in a crisis and someone you DON'T want around in a crisis at the same time. she's a quick thinker, and good at problem solving, but she's also prone to stating the obvious, as if everyone around her hasn't already deduced it themselves. it can give off the impression that yeonjung is nothing more than a stereotypical dumb teenage girl, but really, she's quite the opposite. she's not a genius or anything (that would require time to study, which she doesn't have in between juggling supernatural business. and, you know, actual studying), but she's never fell below a c-grade in any of her subject. she maintains a b average, and the only subjects she is passing with flying colours is human biology, but she likes to think she's pretty far from being the idiot people think she is. she's never had the motivation to become the top in the year, but she's perfectly content with her schooling scores, because she knows they exceed the expectations of those around her. she hates not knowing things, and always has to be included in plans. it annoys her when she's missing information, or there's something that she just can't explain. people expect her to be completely incompetent when it comes to school work, but then again, none of them know that she's also a talented hacker, and has hacked into the school's system to retrieve information on the students before. three times. there is more to ryu yeonjung that meets the eye, both supernatural and not.


BACKGROUND –
 + yeonjung wouldn't consider her childhood to be one of multiple horrible events and an overall terrible experience. sure, they were a lot more deaths that what she was comfortable with, and she did spend a couple of months thinking she was completely out of her mind, but when she compares it to that of some of her friends, it really isn't that bad. she was raised by a single father from the age of two, as her mother passed away in a car accident when she was still very young, and because of that, she doesn't really have any memories of her mother, other than the pictures that fill the family photo albums in the cabinet in the living room. her father, bless his soul, some how managed to balance his job as a lawyer and raising a child all on his own, with minimal help from his own mother. it was due to his high paying occupation that yeonjung had a life of comfort, being brought up relatively well off. yeonjung spent most of her childhood with her father and her grandmother, both of whom were the main parental figures in her life. her grandmother brought her up, telling her stories of fiction and fantasy, tales about mermaids and fairies, and to be completely honest, despite what five year old yeonjung used to think, the yeonjung now would rather have those things remain fictional, so she wouldn't have to deal with the supernatural on a daily basis. yeonjung lived a childhood blissfully unaware of the dangers that lurked in the dark corners, and she'd give anything to take back her innocence and remain oblivious to what really happens when the sun goes down and the creatures of the night come out to prowl.

 + however, yeonjung was introduced to the supernatural world before she turned eighteen, and she definitely did not have the mindset to be able to deal with it. she predicted three deaths of close family members within the span of three years, and that was when her life began a spiral downfall. after the third death, she'd almost convinced herself that she was completely crazy, and needed to be sent off to a mental asylum for treatment. there was nothing physically wrong with her, and she'd already been cleared as a suspect for both deaths, because there was nothing suspicious about either of them, but finding them with absolutely no recollection of getting there in the first place wasn't something that she could turn a blind eye to, espeically not when it had happened twice. her father was at a loss of what to do, because he knew nothing more than what yeonjung did, and they only managed to put all the pieces together after stumbling across a box of her mother's old stuff (literally). yeonjung's mother, ryu hwayoung, had left a box of old things, with a letter placed neatly on the top adressed to yeonjung, with the words "open only when the time is right. you'll know when, sweetheart." yeonjung found it by total accident when she knocked it over in the attic after her father had summoned her up there to help him clean the attic. she hadn't been pleased with all the dust that covered it, but she'd sat down and opened the letter, revealing everything that she needed to know.

 + let's just say that yeonjung hadn't believed a word that her mother had written in the letter, and was half expecting someone to jump out of one of the boxes and announced that she'd just been pranked. however, it didn't happen, which only made yeonjung feel even more uneasy, even though she didn't really believe it. that didn't stop her from researching everything she could find about banshees within the next two days. it wasn't until her father introduced her to a druid, an old friend of her mothers, than yeonjung was forced to come to terms with the fact that yes, she was a banshee, and yes, she'd already predicted three deaths before she'd turned eighteen, which was extraordinary in itself, because her abilities shouldn't have activated until she turned eighteen. the druid suggested that yeonjung and her father move away from their hometown, which was only surrounding yeonjung with death, a constant reminder of everything. so the family of two packed their bags and left, moving to a new town and yeonjung's personality took a complete 180° turn from the person she used to be. neither of them new then that the supernatural activity in their new hometown would rival that of their old town, and if anything, it'd probably just put yeonjung in more danger than before. at least this time round, yeonjung was part of a pack.

「 DE-VOID 」

STRENGTHS -
 + PREDICTING DEATH / FINDING BODIES - they're basically written into her instincts as a banshee, so she does it most of the time without actually trying to, and she can't really control it enough to stop it from happening. however, even then, these abilities have her limits, as she usually only predicts death moments before it happens, and can't really do anything about it by that point

 + CODING / HACKING - she's always had an interest in computers, and she's actually pretty talented when you put her behind a keyboard. so what she lacks in combat, she makes up for in her technological skills. hacking into security cameras or confidential files is easy for her, and she's very good at finding information on suspects.

 + LOGICAL - she's an extremely logical person, even in a crisis. she's the one who can keep a firm head on her shoulders, and won't start freaking out - mostly because she relies on her adrenalin to get her out of the situation alive. but admittedly, some of her best plans have been made up on the spot in a moment of danger, so it's safe to say that thinking on her feet is something that she's good at


WEAKNESSES -
 + COMBAT - she's never really been good at fighting or combat, so she usually likes to stay behind the scenes. the rest of the pack insist that she carry a weapon round at all times but she doesn't really know how to do it, and would probably just flail around wildly swinging it in the air and hope tat by some fluke she manages to get out alive

 + THE DARK - it's a fear of hers that she doesn't like to admit, but it really does effect her on a psychological level. she's not really sure what it stemmed from, only that she's been scared of the dark her entire life, and is prone to just shutting down completing in her panic whenever she can't see anything around her.


TRIVIA -
 + she wears high heels ALL the time, because she hates being called short and she needs the extra height
 + she's scared of driving, because she's not sure what'll happen if her banshee instincts take over while she's driving
 + she's really interested in astronomy and astrology, and finds it interesting to read about
 + her favourite subject is HUMAN BIOLOGY, and it comes in handy on the occasion when the supernatural business is involved
 + she cut her hair short when she was eleven, and she hasn't grown her hair out since then

WOLFSBANE - BANSHEE
 + SHE HASN'T EXACTLY had the best experience with being a banshee, especially not when she first started to get her "banshee powers". her mother, who was a banshee too, died when yeonjung was young, and never had the chance to explain the whole supernatural thing to her daughter, which would have been fine, had her powers not begun to manifest until she turned eighteen. however, unfortunately for yeonjung, hers began to kick in when she was around twelve-thirteen, even though she didn't start realising it until she was fifteen.

 + THE FIRST DEATH she predicted occurred at the age of thirteen. she woke up screaming one morning, and at the time, she hadn't thought twice about the circumstances, and just assumed she'd had a really bad nightmare, even if she couldn't remember what is was about. that afternoon, her baby cousin, passed away while he was still a newborn baby, bringing heartbreak for the family. the cause of death was blamed on premature birth, and it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

 + THE SECOND DEATH that she predicted occurred when she was fifteen, and that was when she'd begun to feel slightly alarmed, and had convinced herself that something was wrong with her. she woke up screaming again, but this time she could remember her dream, except it wasn't really a dream, or at least, not a usual dream that she was used to. she just remembers really loud whispers that seemed to echo around her head, and she didn't know how to stop them. when she woke up, she was surrounded by silence, and visibly shaken, so she crawled out of bed to get herself a glass of water. but instead of going down to the kitchen, she ended up at her grandmother's house, with no recollection of getting there, and her grandmother was dead on her living room sofa. that was an extremely traumatic experience for yeonjung, even though she was ruled out as a suspect as soon as the paramedics deduced that the cause of death was a heart attack, but by that point, yeonjung knew that something was wrong.

 + IT TOOK A THIRD prediction for her father to finally figure it out, connecting the dots. the third death that yeonjung predicted was her aunt's, who unfortunately, passed away of an undiagnosed heart disorder. yeonjung had been at school during the time, and was on her way to her chemistry class, when the next thing she knew, she was standing outside her aunt's house, and she could hear loud whispers, as if someone was standing directly next to her, talking into her ears. terrified, she almost didn't want to go inside the house, still convinced she was completely out of her mind. instead, she pushed forward, stepping into the house, only to stumble across her aunt's dead body. yeonjung spent week sthinking she was completely out of her mind, half tempted to ship herself off to a mental asylum, before her father connected the dots.

 + NOTES – so i was reading up on banshees on the teen wolf wiki, and it said that banshee powers usually don't activate until they're around eighteen, and lydia was a special case because she was bitten by peter. i didn't want to copy lydia's plot line completely, so i kind of went with this, but basically her abilities only activated at such a young age because she was surrounded by death from such a young age.



「 SILVERFINGER 」

HIS FIRST IMPRESSION ON HER -
 + he didn't really think much of her at first, she was just another person. however, he did have some sort of attraction towards her (probably a result of the banshee/hellhound bond, he'll later try to convince himself). he's not really good with acting around people of the opposite sex, since he's not exactly the most experienced in dating, and he's definitely not sure how to act around yeonjung. it's not love at first sight or anything ridiculous like that, but there is some form of attraction that he can't explain. he thinks that, from her appearance, they're somewhat similar in personality because she appear to be just as calculating as he is, which in the long run, makes it easier for them to open up to each other. (they lowkey become that pair of friends that stare at you non discretely when you walk past), because they have similar views on what goes on in the world
  + the first time they met, however, she didn't really seem to be keen to maintain eye contact with him, but he did notice her watching him out of the corner of his eye, which made him rather self conscious. it kind of made them a bit awkward around each other at first, and he ended up having to be the one to actually go and talk to her first. but he honestly did not mean to scare her and make her jump half a foot in the air when he just wanted to say hello.

HER FIRST IMPRESSION ON HIM -
 + she's not sure what to think of him at first, but she's taken to being a lot more wary around new people, because she never truly knows what's going on inside their head. that makes her wary around him, because she knows absolutely nothing about him. she's somewhat attracted to him – which is scary because with everything going on in her life, she really doesn't need a boyfriend to worry about too. she tries to avoid eye-contact with him, because it's become her number one way to keep people from getting too close to her. however, that doesn't really stop her from trying to watch him without him noticing. naturally, he knows exactly what she's doing, because he's trying to do the same thing, and they kind of just dance around each other for a while, not sure how to break the ice, because she's still pretty suspicious of him (she's more suspicious of him than she's been of anyone else, ARTEMIS points out, but yeonjung knows it's because she's somewhat attracted to him.) when she finds out about their harbinger bond, it makes her question her feelings about him, because she doesn't know if she genuinely attracted to him, or if it's just the harbinger of death talking – it wouldn't be the first time that her banshee instincts completely took over.
 + yeonjung would also like to say that she was not scared the first time that he spoke to her, and the only reason why she jumped half a foot in the air was because she was startled. it had more to do with the fact that he snuck up behind her and was this close to straight up whispering in her ear, which is kind of scary in itself, given that she didn't even notice him move towards her.

REQUESTED SCENES W/ HIM -
 + him trying to calm her down after she finds a dead body, and taking her home after they're done with questioning and cleared as suspects to make sure that she's really okay after the entire ordeal
 + him letting her snuggle up to him because she's cold, and he can increase the temperature of his body, but he spends the whole time freaking out because he doesn't want to accidentally burst into flames and burn her or something, because she doesn't have healing abilities like most of the others
 + he gets jealous when he finds out that she's dated a significant amount of people before, because she had multiple boyfriends before getting involved in the supernatural business
 + her doing research like crazy trying to figure out why they have some sort of banshee/hellhound bond, because she hates not knowing things, and he wants to help her but he's not sure how because he knows even less about the whole thing than she does
 + them bonding over being so closely linked to death and dying and how stressful and sickening and terrifying it is, even though they now have each other to talk to
 + her saving his life, but it happens by complete accident, because she actually hand't intended to stab this guy when she was waving around her knife, and it was mostly just an empty threat, and they're both kind of shocked afterwards

REQUESTED SCENES -
 + she's unanimously voted as the most protected one in their pack, so all the others try to protect her from any threat, because a) she can't heal fast and b) she's not good in combat
 + her predicting the death of someone they know, and it really shakes them up, but she manages to save them before they die, and she feels genuinely happy about finally being able to use her powers to do something, instead of having these abilities that she can't do anything with
