  1. MGRG Interview conducted at [REDACTED] on XX/XX/XXXX under Authority of the Australian Federal Department of Exotic Fauna.
  2.

  4.
  5. [RECORDING BEGINS]
  6.
  7. Interviewer:[static]...rying to get this stupid thing work... Ah. There we go. Are you able to hear me in there?
  8.
  9. Subject: We hear you.
  10.
  11. I: This is MGRG chief botanist [REDACTED] interviewing... what USED to be Junior Associate botanist [REDACTED] on this the XX/XX/XX. Appropriate disclosure has been made and the appropriate waivers have been verbally consented to. For the record, will you state that you have agreed to this interview and subsequent dissemination?
  12.
  13. S: *Giggling* We do
  14.
  15. I: Something funny?
  16.
  17. S: There's a much easier way to find out about us, you know
  18.
  19. I: Oh?
  20.
  21. S: Yes. Just open the airlock. We'd be happy to show you... You'd be happy to see... So happy...
  22.
  23. (Subject's eyes roll back in his head and commences vocalizations resembling those of sexual arousal. Host organism uses primary tactile manipulators to physically stimulate subject's exterior)
  24.
  25. I: Could we perhaps dispense with that?
  26.
  27. S: I'm sorry... We're just so in Love... Have you ever been in Love [REDACTED]?
  28.
  29. I: I'm happily married, as [REDACTED] is well aware... Are you still aware of [REDACTED]s memories?
  30.
  31. S: You're so silly. This one IS [REDACTED], but we are so much more now.
  32.
  33. I: Why don't you explain that to me?
  34.
  35. S: How frightfuly dull. Alright, Matango Gives, and Matango Takes. We Give to the beloved the vision of the Mohorovicic, and we take the sustanance from his form.
  36.
  37. I: You're a parasite then?
  38.
  39. S: Is your wife a parasite for taking money from you to buy food? We Provide, and are in turn Provided for.
  40.
  41. I: You... Understand the concept of money?
  42.
  43. S: We have shown the Mohorovicic many things... Taught them much that they did not know before. When the rhizomes contact the all-encompassing, then others will know.
  44.
  45. I: So the Matango want to know about society?
  46.
  47. S: Oh yes... We want to share this with the Sisters.
  48.
  49. I: So you believe that Matango can be made to understand the world they live in?
  50.
  51. S: Oh yes! We want to know so many things. We want to show the Mohorovicic the wonderful things we have shared! About the land, about the water, about the structure of this installation...
  52.
  53. I: [REDACTED], you are aware that disclosing structural information on [REDACTED] facilities is a criminal offense?
  54.
  55. S: But once you've seen... it won't really matter now, will it?
  56.
  57. [Interviewer notes that subject has covered a large portion of the exposed surfaces of its containment unit with a network of rhizomes]
  58.
  59. I: [REDACTED], you may not have quite grasped this, but you are never getting out of there.
  60.
  61. S: Our Daughter so wants to meet you...
  62.
  63. I: [Coughing] I have no idea what you are talking about
  64.
  65. [video logs reveal a nub growing from the base of the Host organism, approximately 1m in length.]
  66.
  67. S: We were so lucky that [REDACTED] had such an interest in mechanics. Didn't you know that?
  68.
  69. I: [further sporadic coughing] I've read his file, I still don't see what you're getting at.
  70.
  71. S: We do not like your filters and your fans. We had them go away. [REDACTED] helped us. Such a NICE boy. We do Love him so.
  72.
  73. [Interviewer leans for the alarm klaxon, but is interrupted by another fit of coughing]
  74.
  75. S: No... No... We think you should push the other button...
  76.
  77. I: I should... Yes...
  78.
  79. [Interviewer is seen disabling the airlock. Remote monitoring procedures have locked down external doors and vents with standard vacuum seals. Corrosive agents have begun permeating the facility as per directive XX-XXXXX]
  80.
  81. S: See? This is our daughter, isn't she beautiful?
  82.
  83. I: Beautiful... Yes...
  84.
  85. [Interviewer detatches satelite node from Host organism, which rapidly begins encasing Interviewer's lower body in a rhizome network]
  86.
  87. S: See? We knew she would like you!
  88.
  89. [both Subject and interviewer appear to be copulating with their respective host organisms. Permeation of corrosive agents at 25%]
  90.
  91. I: We must show the Mohorovicic the new things we have seen
  92.
  93. S: Show... Yes...
  94.
  95. [Interviewer exits the airlock and returns to his desk, activating the unlock codes for the exterior doors. This is unsuccessful due to lockdown protocols.]
  96.
  97. I: It does not work.
  98.
  99. S: Ah.
  100.
  101. [interviewer approaches his laptop, and begins attempting to bypass MGRG firewalls. Automated alerts are acknowledged in [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. Interviewer notices post in discussion board made by Senior Agent XXXXXXXXX.]
  102.
  103. I: Here he is!
  104.
  105. S: Oh send him a message... The Mohorovicic does miss him so...
  106.
  107. [Message is corrupted due to rhizomal attempt to interface with digital equipment. Post is scanned and deemed not to contain malicious code. Corrosive agents at 75%. Subject, interviewer and both host agents succumb as expected to liquification. Internal temperature is raised to 1400 degrees as per biowaste destruction regulations. All internal systems have been backed up offsite and are awaiting review by XXXXXX]
