- Final Fantasy XII
- Platform: PS2
- Released:
- 16.03.2006 (J)
- 31.10.2006 (NA)
- 23.02.2007 (PAL)
- Based on: PAL-version (SLES-54354)
- - ATTENTION! In order to obtain the Zodiac Spear, you must *not* open
- certain barrels in four specific locations.
- × Rabanastre - Oldtown
- × Nalbina Dungeons
- × Royal Palace
- × Phon Coast - Vaddu Strand
- - A single save file takes 94 kb of space.
- - Press Triangle while pressing up or down to scroll pages. This can also
- be used to set the figure to one or all when choosing quantity.
- - Many shops will update their wares as you progress in the game.
- - Body armor increases physical defense and headwear increases magic
- defense. Furthermore, these are divided into three different types. Each
- of them consistently increases a different stat in addition to DFP / MDF.
- × Heavy: Strength
- × Light: HP
- × Mystic: Magic
- - Shields increase Evade (and occasionally Magic Evade).
- - Enemies don't respawn from simply refreshing the area unless you
- move two areas away. Loading the game also triggers respawns. If you
- stay within one area and its adjacent areas, respawns will occur
- eventually.
- - Sometimes certain enemies will fail to spawn, but will then spawn,
- if you kill other enemies and move away from their spawn point.
- - Some enemies (especially Rare Monsters) have a chance of spawning.
- If one does not spawn, the respawn rules apply (ie. their spawn is
- not re-rolled unless you move two areas away or load the game).
- - In some special cases, you have to leave the area (as in, the region)
- before the enemy can respawn.
- - Some enemies require special conditions in order to spawn.
- - You can increase the drop rate and quantity of dropped items by
- 'chaining,' ie. killing enemies of the same type in succession.
- - Each character can learn 3 Mist Techniques. The second and third ones
- will increase the character's max MP multiplier by 1 each. Mist moves
- are gained by simply activating an MT panel on the License Board (50 LP
- each). One panel can only be activated by one character, so you should
- focus on giving them to characters that are part of your final party.
- I never actually use the Mist moves, as all I can do with them is produce
- very unimpressive damage at the cost of all my MP. I have no idea what's
- up with that...
- - After completing the Henne Mines, Giza Plains will start alternating
- between the Dry and the Rains (2 hours of dry, 1 hour of rains).
- - Battle Lore and Magic Lore increase Str/Mag by 1.
- - Healing items (with all three Lore skills):
- Potion | 150 HP
- Hi-Potion | 600 HP
- X-Potion | 2400 HP
- Phoenix Down | Revive with 50% HP
- Ether | 75 MP
- Hi-Ether | 300 MP
- - Instead of chests, the game features what appear to be barrels and
- pots, and, unlike before, these containers usually don't give you fixed
- items. Instead, these containers have a chance to spawn and a chance
- to give you an item (both typically around 50%). There are typically
- two different items you can get (equal odds). With the Diamond Armlet,
- you have a 10% chance of getting the second item. If you don't get an
- item, you'll get money.
- - If a barrel you're looking for isn't there or you get the wrong item,
- you'll need to respawn it; move 3 areas away and come back to see if
- your luck's changed. If there's a save point nearby, you can also reload
- your save for the same effect.
- - If the RNG doesn't seem forthcoming, reset the console.
- - Barrel notes:
- s: barrel can only give you one item
- nr: barrel does not respawn nor can it give you money
- DA: Diamond Armlet required
- - The Synthesis system in FFXII is essentially pretty basic (get the
- required materials, then just create the item), but there are a few
- things that set it apart. First off, the game tells you nothing. You
- can't see what items can be created nor what materials they require
- (the guides got you covered, though).
- - The way it works is that the item is automatically created once you've
- sold the necessary materials. The game keeps track of the number of
- each material you've sold, but when an item is created, the values for
- the used materials will go down to 0.
- - You can save yourself from extra grinding by taking advantage of the
- overlap mechanic. Eg. if weapon a requires 4 of item x and weapon b
- requires 5, you only need 5 if you unlock both weapons at the same
- time, during the same session.
- - Also, the created items have to be bought.
- - Some items can be created more than once. However, another one will
- not be made until you've bought the pre-existing one.
- - Notes on the PS4 version:
- × The License Board has been nerfed quite a bit, as you are now limited
- to only two classes (with the second one becoming available after the
- Tomb of Raithwall). Not that big a deal so long as two of your characters
- have White Mage as their other class. The third one should be a Knight,
- as that class has access to Curaga and Curaja, although only one Knight
- can get them, since they're tied to summons. If you get Seitengrats,
- there's no need for anyone to take the Archer.
- × Choose your classes carefully, as there's no way to switch them for
- some warped reason. [can change in later versions]
- × Characters still have the same default licenses. As such, even if
- you don't make a single Archer or Machinist, you can still steal with
- Vaan, Balthier and Fran.
- × The White Mage can learn Libra with Cuchulainn.
- × The fast forward function makes things a lot less tedious.
- × You can use the Japanese voice track as well as turn the godawful
- music off.
- × There's a new overlay map function that you can toggle with L3.
- × There are no more limits on stats or damage. The game is unable to
- show stat figures that exceed the old limits, however.
- × Pretty much all the containers are different. Containers are re-rolled
- simply when you refresh the area.
- × Most abilities are obtained in a different way, such as from containers,
- although you usually don't have to worry about any of the odds. You
- just have to find them.
- × Quickenings no longer consume MP, but instead have their own bar.
- Also, learning a Quickening no longer increases your MP.
- × You can easily get a Diamond Armlet in Westersand - Windtrace Dunes.
- It's in the separate section accessed from the Shimmering Horizons.
- Once you have that, you can try and score a Seitengrat (or two) by
- manipulating the RNG. It's quite easy. If you don't get the right
- Cure figures in a minute or two, restart the game.
- × Even if you don't get the secret weapons, you should forget about
- the Zodiac Spear. The one in the Necrohol is gone. The easiest way
- to get one now is by giving 10 trophies to each bangaa in the Hunt
- Club side quest at Phon Coast (available after Draklor Lab). I'd go
- with the Ribbon instead (16 to Stok). That way you can get another
- pair of Genji Gloves as well. By the way, a Ribbon now gives you
- Auto-Libra and Auto-Regen in addition to status protection.
- × Since only the Time Mage can cast Float, you'll want to wear Steel
- Poleyns or Winged Boots in areas with nasty traps you can't easily
- avoid.
- × Regarding double xp, there's one Embroidered Tippet in Nam-Yensa
- Sandsea (Simoon Bluff, 100%) and another in Feywood (Antiquity's End,
- 25%). To get a third one, you have to Poach Coeurls in the Tchita
- Uplands (Coeurls found elsewhere won't do).
- × You can find one Cameo Belt in the Barheim Passage (you have to
- complete the side quest in the South Bank Village in Estersand to get
- the Barheim Key). There's another one in Subterra. You can also steal
- it from Cuchulainn in Trial Stage 42.
- × In the Belito hunt, you need to get to the separate section of the
- Withering Shore, accessed through the Zertinan Caverns.
- × In Pharos - Subterra, you need to use a certain number of Black Orbs
- on the four pedestals in order to access the next level. The game tells
- you when you have the right amount, so it's quite simple. At the end,
- you'll find the Elite Mark, Shadowseer. And that's it. There are some
- nice items too and the xp is good.
- × Abyssal has stasis traps (Reverse & Disable) that you really don't
- want to risk triggering. You can get rid of both with Esuna, but that
- requires that you're actually able to cast magic. Reverse is something
- a Ribbon won't block (which is really a good thing).
- × There are a few Magic Pots in Subterra that you need to watch out.
- Tweak your gambits so your characters will only attack undead enemies.
- If you end up provoking a Magic Pot somehow, run for your fucking life.
- Using an Elixir on them will make them very easy to kill, but there's
- really no reason to bother (except once for the bestiary). Without
- using an Elixir, they'll take 0 damage even from the Seitengrat.
- Ironically (or perhaps fittingly?), these guys are actually the best
- source for Elixirs (stolen).
- × Items of note in Subterra:
- × Indigo Pendant (Penumbra - NE, in the room with the Magic Pot, 5%)
- × Assassin's Arrows (Penumbra - SE)(respawns)
- × Ring of Renewal (Penumbra - SW, 20%)
- × Cameo Belt (Umbra - NW, the room to the right, 5%)
- × Nihopalaoa (Umbra - SW, next to a pillar in the large room, 5%)
- × Ribbon (Abyssal - NW, on the left, *not* in the room with the MP, 10%)
- × Bubble Belt (Abyssal - NW, the northwest-most pot)(respawns)
- × Wither (Abyssal - NW, in the middle of the large room, 10%)
- × Great Trango (Abyssal - SE, large room, 2%)
- × You can't use magic when fighting Zeromus in the Stilshrine of Miriam.
- Not an issue at very high levels.
- × Stuff in the new areas of Henne Mines (requires 10 Espers):
- × Phase 2 Shaft: Sage's Ring (25%)(in the area accessed from Feywood)
- × Phase 2 Dig: Dueling Mask, Fomalhaut, Nihopalaoa (25%), Grand Helm
- (25%)(dead end near the little cart), Circlet, Makkara
- × Crossover C: Germinas Boots, Bubble Belt (25%)(in the trap)
- × Special Charter Shaft:
- × Renew, Lordly Robes, Brave Suit (25%), Zodiac Spear (1%)
- × Addle (10%)(long, uncharted path in the middle with no splits)
- × Ribbon (15%)(the room in the middle of the four)
- × Grand Armor (25%)(right where you found the stash of booze)
- × When fighting Gilgamesh, your level should be one of the following:
- 79, 83, 85, 89, 91, 95, 97. For the first encounter, it doesn't matter.
- He ignores evade and hits increasingly hard. When he pulls out the
- 'legendary sword,' quickly hit him with Dispel before he puts up his
- barrier. And don't forget to steal the Genji gear.
- × Talk to the boy again after taking a skyferry to increase the odds
- of running into Deathgaze. No need to bother with the 7 sisters side
- quest. The reward is just a Ring of Renewal (Auto-Regen). Either way,
- Deathgaze starts off immune to physicals.
- × The gates in the new areas of the Great Crystal work in a different
- way than the ones in the story-related section. Each switch can open
- two different gates. After hitting a switch, you have to get to and
- manually open either of the two gates within a time limit. Only one
- of the two gates can be open at a time. Hitting a switch again will
- reset the gates.
- × Items with a limited spawn chance in the new areas:
- × Staff of the Magi (Sirhru Phullam Praa'vaa)(near WS XIII (via XI))
- × Yagyuu Darkblade (Sirhru Jilaam Pratii'vaa)(via WS XII)
- × Gendarme (Crystal Peak)(1%)
- × You'll find Shellga behind Leo 1 (via WS XII)
- × Way Stone XV takes you to the trickiest part. Here's the order:
- Libra 1, item, Capricorn 1, Virgo 1, Libra 2, Capricorn 2, WS XVII,
- (Save point), Aquarius switch, WS XVIII, Aquarius 1, Taurus 2, Hastega.
- × Way Stone XXI (beyond Taurus 1) takes you to Omega (+ an Artemis
- Bow), although you can't fight it until you've killed the Hell Wyrm.
- × Ultima's Holyja causes Reverse (even if you absorb the damage). She'll
- use it more frequently as the battle goes on. It will also get more
- powerful; anyone without Bubble or Holy absorption will not survive
- (there's one White Mask in the Necrohol and you can get another one
- through Synthesis). She can also Reflect the party. Various debilitations
- will be inflicted on you for most of the battle. They come in this order:
- HP drain, MP drain, Attack seal, Magic seal, Technique seal, Item seal,
- increased Charge Time. At very high levels, you should manage.
- × To fight Chaos in the Necrohol, you need to complete the medallion
- side quests.
- × Talk to the nu'mou in the Nabreus Deadlands to start the quest.
- × In Archades, you'll find a nu-mou named Roh'kenmu in the Magic shop.
- Talk to him, then Otto in Old Archades.
- × In Rabanastre, you have to talk to Roh'kenmou at Dalan's place,
- the kids near Dalan's place, the Curious Woman by the fountain, one
- of the bangaa merchants at the bazaar, the Sotted Imperial at the
- Magic shop and then one of the kids again (Filo).
- × In the Garamsythe Waterway, you need to activate the 5 switches in
- a certain order. This has nothing to do with Cuchulainn, by the way.
- × You can't use the Attack command when fighting Chaos. He can inflict
- 3 ailments (Confusion, Disable, Silence), so Ribbons will come in handy
- once again. Avoid all elements except Earth. Souleater will get the job
- done nicely.
- × When fighting Zodiark, keep resetting until you can steal a Great
- Trango (create an auto-save where all the enemies in your way are gone).
- Make sure you can actually finish the battle as well. Start off with
- all characters absorbing Dark, then remove it from one character after
- the initial Darkja. At Lv99 and with Seitengrats, you should be able
- to take him out before he starts putting up his barriers at low health.
- If he does manage to put up the barrier, things will get tricky, as
- he'll put it up again every time it goes down.
- × Behemoth King will alternate between a physical barrier and a magic
- barrier. He hits very hard during the magic barrier.
- × The Cartographer trophy seems to require that you visit every area
- in every location you can revisit (maps don't matter). If you didn't
- miss anything, you should get it when you enter the area where Hell
- Wyrm is.
- × Hell Wyrm's normal attack has a 5% chance of inflicting Instant Death.
- Judgment is Holy-elemental. You can avoid it by standing on his side.
- He'll eventually start using Invert, which swaps your current HP and
- MP. All in all, he's nothing to worry about. If you use Reverse, don't
- forget to drop the Gendarme. Otherwise, the absorption will kill the
- character.
- × Omega is a huge cunt. It's only got one attack, but the damage is
- very high (around 7000), and it spams it at a relentless pace. It may
- also inflict Berserk. The only way I could beat it was by constantly
- disengaging. I'd go in, fire a few arrows, then fall back to reapply
- Reverse. In Trial Mode, you don't have that option.
- × Yiazmat is where I have to draw the line. 50 million HP is just too
- much. I'm not doing it.
- × You can buy Hi-Ether from the baknamy merchant at the end of the game.
- × If you want Megalixirs, the best source would be a pot in Pharos -
- Empyrean Ravel (2%).
- × If you can actually somehow manage the battle, steal the Bonebreaker
- from Omega in Trial Stage 99 and use it to inflict Disease on Drace,
- who will otherwise heal herself (and others) with Elixirs. If you fail
- to steal it, you'll need to use Niho instead.
- × Once you're done with all of the above, it's time to start filling
- in the rest of the bestiary. It's mainly just hunting down the Rare
- monsters you missed. The three normal enemies you're not likely to
- find on your own are the Oiling (Stilshrine of Miriam, hidden path
- in Ward of the Sword-King), the Garif Adventurer (Ozmone Plain -
- Greensnake. Keep killing the Wus and refreshing the area. If you want
- to fight him again, you need to leave the Ozmone Plain) and the Gazer
- (Lhusu Mines - Site 2, spawns after 7 minutes). You don't have to get
- all the pages.

- can't be fucked with them myself.

- [SkipScene021]
- \\\ The Sandsea ||
- - You can check back with Tomaj for your reward, but I don't bother
- myself.
- - You can sign up for the next hunt as well (Thextera), but it might
- be a little too much for you to handle right now. You'll need to do it
- eventually, though, as it gives you access to one of the Monographs.
- Aside from that and the mandatory one, I never do any hunting at all.
- I find that the rewards just aren't good enough to be worth the time
- (you'll be able to buy Bubble Belts, Cat-ear Hoods and Bravery - that's
- about it). If you still wanna do it, you can go ahead, but I recommend
- against signing up for anything above Rank 6.

- - In addition to default equipment, new characters may come with some
- money, abilities or items (items and money in Penny's case. Although
- she starts with the White Magic 1 License, she doesn't give you a free

- to Estersand - Yardang Labyrinth in Gizas South Bank, don't open it.

- Leave the Passage Entrance (you did save your game, right?). Look
- towards the village and you should see smoke rising from it. Head towards
- it and you'll easily hit the right barrel... *if* it's there. If not, at
- least you have some idea where it spawns.

- casting spells.
- - You'll be running into fliers from now on. Sort your weapons so that
- you can easily switch between your melee weapons and bows. I myself have

- Smelling Salts.
- - You'll likely run out of money at this point (if you already haven't).
- That means it's time to grind. I don't really know any good places, though.
- Instead of fighting enemies, you could farm some piece of equipment
- you can get from a barrel, but then you won't get much Experience.
- Either way, once you do have the money, you could progress the story
- to reach Eruyt. At that point, the shop in Jahara has the best stuff
- you can get before the next dungeon.
- - The Zodiac Spear is also available at this point - technically. I don't
- get it myself until after the second-to-last dungeon.
- \\\ Nalbina Town - West Barbican ||
- - Approach Biggs and Wedge, then rent a chocobo and approach them again
- to help July out with her mark. Doing so will also enable you to access
- the Mosphoran Highwaste. This event is only available during a limited
- window of time.
- - Should you make a run for it and reach the Babbling Vale, you can pick
- some new items from the merchant there... but that's about it. The barrel
- with the Burning Bow is, unsurprisingly, out of reach for now.
- - Nishijin Belt, Gillie Boots, Quasimodo Boots, Thief's Cuffs - 3000,
- Ruby Ring, Chronos Tear.

- \\\ Ozmone - Sunlit Path ||
- - Talk to the soldier and give him a Potion (_if you can afford it_) to
- get a free chocobo ride. You can go grab one at Jahara as well if needed.
- - In any case, guide your chocobo through the bushes in the Field of
- Light Winds to reach the other side of the Shred (and the Henne Mines).
- \\\ The Shred ||
- [SkipScene128]. Approach the entrance to the Henne Mines.

- \\\ Paramine Rift - Head of the Silverflow ||
- [SkipScene138]. Enter the Freezing Gorge.
- |
- [SkipScene139]
- Theft: Damascus Steel (Anchag) \\\ Karydine Glacier ||
- - Anchag will spawn in the area (100% rate) once all other creatures
- have been killed. You'll need 6 chunks of Damascus (eventually).
- Item (b): Thief's Cuffs (s) \\\ Silverflow's End ||
- - Well, I already advised you to pick up a couple of pairs of Thief's
- Cuffs at the Babbling Vale, but in case you missed it, here's another
- source. The barrel in question is on the west side.
- - And in case you haven't done your homework, equipping the Thief's
- Cuffs not only boosts your chance to steal but also allows you to try
- and individually steal every item the target has.
- [SkipScene140]. Enter the Stilshrine of Miriam.
- \\\ Freezing Gorge ||
- [SkipScene141]. This one plays upon reaching Mt. Bur-Omisace.
- \\\ Mt. Bur-Omisace - Sand-strewn Pass ||
- - Hopefully you've already gotten a hang of the item creation system, so
- you can tell which items to sell and which not (overlap - key word here).
- Obviously, you might have different items than me (and different goals),
- so I can't really help you with each and every set out there. Just don't
- sell any Feystones or any of your Damascus (and whatever else I previously
- told you not sell, such as Snake Skin).

- \\\ Ward of Velitation ||
- - Okay, I died here too.
- \\\ Walk of Torn Illusion ||
- - Hit the pedestal here as well.
- \\\ Walk of Revelation ||
- - The Life Crystal turns out to be a Crystalbug, so use the opportunity
- to mug yourself a Feystone (or an Ether if you're unlucky).
- \\\ Ward of the Sword-King ||
- - Examine the huge sword to be able to proceed. At this point, one of
- the sealed doors in the first area can be opened.
- \\\ Walk of Prescience ||
- - Examine the statue and turn it so it faces the giant statue in the
- Cold Distance. Do the same with the others to proceed.
- Boss: Vinuskar \\\ Ward of Steel ||
- [SkipScene147]. This one plays when you examine the ancient door.
- |
- [Boss]
- - Slow, Blind

- according to your equipment.
- |
- [SkipScene148]

- |
- [Boss]
- - Avoid all elements except Thunder.
- - Casting spells will prompt Azers to try and hit you with Sleep.
- - Don't bother stealing any Feystones. You'll get plenty of them later.

- Trace.
- - Talk to the Moogle Boss in the Living Chasm, then find his employees.
- Item: Quasimodo Boots \\\ Salikawood - Living Chasm ||
- - As soon as the gate's open, you can go play around with the shrines in
- the Highwaste - not that I'd recommend it.
- - Talk to the Moogle Boss afterwards to receive a pair of Quasimodo Boots.

- \\\ Rava's Pass ||
- [SkipScene158]. This one plays upon reaching the Tchita Uplands.
- - The barrels in Tchita Uplands have some pretty good stuff, but there's
- only one in each area and they only have a 10% chance of spawning.
- Item: Soul Ward Key \\\ Tchita Uplands - The Chosen Path||
- - You won't get past the first area in Sochen without the key item
- above, so punch the NPC here in the face until he coughs it up.
- - Oh, and, incidentally, this is the closest save point to the "unofficial
- mark" you just signed up for, so... Yeah...
- \\\ Fields of Eternity ||
- [SkipScene159]. This one plays upon entering the Sochen Cave Palace.
- \\\ Sochen Cave Palace - Doubt Abandoned ||
- Boss(es): Alraune King, Onion Queen, Mandragora Prince, Pumpkin Star, Topstalk
- [SkipScene160]. Plays when you use the Soul Ward Key on the sealed door.
- |
- [Boss]
- - There's a save point in the next area (The Acolyte's Burden). You'll
- have to beat it up first, though.
- |
- [SkipScene161]
- - You don't have to complete any of the puzzles here (I don't even know

- - Jules will send you off on some errand that involves talking to some
- of the NPCs.
- [SkipScene166]. This one plays after you complete the task.
- \\\ Archades - Nilbasse ||
- - That was just a warm-up. Try to catch a cab here to initiate another
- suspicious encounter with Jules. In order to ride the cab, you'll need
- to acquire, uh... something... Anyway, what you basically need to do
- is pair up the NPCs. That's all. Quite simple.

- Theft: Adamantite (Thalassinon) \\\ Vaddu Strand ||
- - May I remind you that the barrels in this area are off-limits?
- - Anyway, make your way to top of the cliff in the east end. Look down
- at the beach for a while and Thalassinon should spawn.
- You must *not* kill this enemy. Not until you've mugged him
- for a few chunks of Adamantite. The thing with Trophy Rare Monsters
- is that they *won't* respawn after being killed. I repeat, these guys
- WILL NOT RESPAWN once they've been killed! You'll *need* to take
- care of Thalassinon, though, before any of the other Trophy Rare

- \\\ Edge of Reason ||
- Items (b): Deathbringer, Ensanguined Shield (s, nr)
- - These two barrels spawn in the same spot; in the middle of the trap

- Use it to return to the Gate of Earth.
- \\\ Dalmasca Estersand - South Bank Village ||
- - Diamond Armlet - 20 000
- - When you have the Diamond Armlet equipped, you'll receive different
- items from barrels, with the second item often being pretty good. However,
- you only have 10% chance of getting it instead of the usual 50/50. Combined
- with a chance to spawn and a chance to have money as well as a bitchy
- RNG, it becomes very difficult to reliably obtain any of these rare items.
- It could take many hours. I would only recommend these if you're feeling
- *very* motivated. Even then, there are only a few that *might* be worth
- the time and effort. If you're interested in trying your luck, head on
- over to Cerobi Steppe and try to score the Assassin's Arrows (and maybe
- the Ribbon)(I'll list these later).

- \\\ Canal Lane - Port Villa B ||
- Item (b): Ensanguined Shield (DA)(nr)
- - Don't forget to save your game before trying this one. This will be
- easier than typical DA-items seeing as the barrel always spawns and

- - You should be around Lv60 at this point. That should be enough to get

- Item (b): Zodiac Spear (Unique)(s, nr)
- - Do *not* go through the Door of Despair.
- - Do *not* have the Diamond Armlet equipped when opening the barrels!
- (You can put it on after getting the spear).
- - The Zodiac Spear is one of the strongest weapons in the game with
- an ATP of 150. As I've already explained, you can only get it if you
- left certain barrels unopened in four specific locations.
- - You can either head back the way you came from or keep going to reach
- the Nabreus Deadlands.
- - This is where I do a whole bunch of Synthesis, which is, of course,
- completely optional. If you don't feel like doing it, you can go ahead
- and head to the final dungeon.
- - If you're in, you can start by unlocking and buying all the Monographs
- (in case you already haven't)(easiest done in Rabanastre). To unlock
- them, you need to talk to certain types of shopkeepers or check the hunting
- notice board a certain number of times. They'll all show up as 'Forgotten
- Grimoires.' Each of them gives certain types of enemies the chance to
- drop a new item (although in many cases it's the worthless Pebble).
- Knight's Monograph | 19 000 | Weapon, 30 times | Giants, insects
- Scholar's Monograph | 22 000 | Armor, 15 times | Constructs
- Mage's Monograph | 21 000 | Magic, 25 times | Fiends
- Sage's Monograph | 25 000 | Any, 100 times | Elementals
- Warmage's Monograph | 20 000 | Noticeboard, 20x | Undead, amorphs
- Dragoon's Monograph | 22 000 | Noticeboard, 40x | Plants, dragons
- Hunter's Monograph | 18 000 | Thextera hunt* | Beasts, avions
- - * You'll also need to talk to Gatsly at the bazaar afterwards.
- - Right, so, I'll be covering most of the items listed in the misc.
- file. Let's start with the Ultima Blade (overlaps with the Bubble Belt).
- - Doing hunts is *not* required. Again, if you're doing them anyway, I
- have to recommend against signing up for anything above Rank 6. Those
- guys are brutally hard. If you sign up for them and can't take them out,
- they'll always be a threat to you when moving in their location.
- Ultima Blade | 2× Adamantite
- | 2×´Death Powder
- | Gnoma Halcyon
- \\\ Phon Coast - Vaddu Strand ||
- Theft: Adamantite (Thalassinon)
- - Already covered this one. You'll need two chunks. If you still haven't
- killed the Thalassinon, you'll want to do that once you have the metals,
- so we can encounter the other Trophy Rare Monsters. After that, you need
- to go to the camp and talk to the Huntmaster and then one of the bangaas
- near him and choose 'I'm ready.'
- - In case you forgot, Trophy Rare Monsters do *not* respawn.
- Lost & Found: Adamantite (Adamantitan - MG) \\\ Cerobi Steppe ||

- Theft: Mythril (Molen) \\\ Hourglass Basin ||
- - You can make Molen spawn by taking the hidden path near the save point
- and waiting for a while at the end of the narrow path where the Grenades are.
- He spawns on the other side, though, so you have to go back to where the
- Buers are / were. You can also get Mythril from the Mythril Golems at
- Giruvegan. You'll need 3.
- \\\ Drybeam Cavern ||
- Lost & Found: Battlewyrm Carapace (Skulwyrm)
- \\\ Darkened Wharf ||
- Lost & Found: Death Powder (Bogey - MG)
- - You won't be finding Bogeys in large numbers. There are two of them
- here (the other one might refuse to spawn at first) and one more in
- the Drybeam Cavern.
- Theft: Battlewyrm Carapace (Archaeoaevis) \\\ Balamka Fault ||
- Lost & Found: Emperor Scale (Archaeoaevis - MG)
- - You need to get 2 Emperor Scales.
- - Don't forget that you can trigger the respawn by moving two areas
- away. Study your map to figure out an efficient way to do so.
- \\\ Dalmasca Westersand ||
- Theft / Lost & Found: Gnoma Halcyon (Gnoma Entite - Rare)
- - You can find the Gnoma Entite in the Midfault and Shimmering
- Horizons but only during a sandstorm. You can re-roll the weather by
- moving between Westersand and some other location.
- - Entites will hit you with Silencega when you cast spells, so better
- have a Rose Corsage equipped on at least one character. The others
- should have Nishijin Belts, as getting hit by Sleepga can easily result
- in a game over.
- Item (b): 50 000 gil (DA)(nr) \\\ Giza Plains D - Gizas South Bank ||
- - Hopefully you remembered to stay away from the barrel I told you about
- back at the beginning of the game (the one on the little bridge near
- the path to the Estersand). Use the nearby save point so you won't get
- an item instead.
- - If it's rain season, you just need to wait a while (it lasts for an
- hour. The Dry lasts for 2).
- \\\ Toam Hills ||
- Theft / Lost & Found: Snake Skin (Wildsnake)

- \\\ Feywood ||
- Lost & Found: Moondust (Mu - MG)
- - Not many Mus around. I suggest you kill the two near the entrance to

- \\\ Empyrean Seat ||
- Lost & Found: Moon Ring (Ash Wyrm - MG)
- - The best way to trigger the respawn is to load the game. Don't run

- [AddSkipScene12]. Enter the Nabreus Deadlands.
- \\\ Nabreus Deadlands - Echoes of the Past ||
- Lost & Found: Dorsal Fin (Focalor - MG)
- Theft: Sagittarius Gem (Foobar) \\\ The Slumbermead ||
- - Foobars spawn in four spots and drop down when you get close. The gem
- isn't the most common steal, but it's not rare either. Equip Bowline
- Sashes on the other two characters or Mythril Bubbles will completely
- fuck you up.
- - There's a hidden path here.
- \\\ Succour Midst Sorrow ||
- - You can steal a Feystone from the Crystalbug, but you should already
- have enough of them.
- \\\ Lifeless Strand ||
- Lost & Found: Wargod's Band (Leinir - MG)
- - It's faster to get Wargod's Bands off Victanir, but this one works,
- too.
- - There's a hidden path here that takes you to two Foobars.
- \\\ Necrohol of Nabudis ||
- Lost & Found: Soul of Thamasa (Oversoul - MG)
- - Oversouls spawn at your location after you've killed a certain
- number of enemies. Once you've killed 6 of them (at which point Helvinek
- spawns), they won't re-appear until you've been outside of the Necrohol.
- - You'll need to score two of these. You probably already got one
- High Arcana from Montblanc. If not, get it once you're done here.
- \\\ Hall of Ivory Covenant ||
- Theft: Soul Powder (Vorres (Trophy))
- - Do *not* go through the Door of Loathing.
- - There's a 20% chance that a Dark Elemental will spawn here. Provoke it
- and have it chase you around. Vorres should then spawn fairly close to
- the Door of Loathing.
- - I will remind you *not* to kill any of the important Trophy Rare
- Monsters.
- - You can get one Soul Powder by completing the Ixtab hunt. It becomes
- available after doing 4 hunts.
- \\\ Cloister of the Highborn ||
- Theft: Einherjarium (Babil - Rare)
- Lost & Found: Holy Crystal (Babil), Einherjarium (Babil - MG)
- \\\ Paramina Rift ||
- Theft / Lost & Found: Leshach Halcyon (Leshach Entite - Rare)
- - Leshach Entite spawns in Head of the Silverflow and Icebound Flow
- during a blizzard. There are three different states of weather here:
- not snowing, snowing and blizzard (the last two being somewhat similar,
- so you need to learn to tell the difference). Unlike in eg. Ozmone Plain,
- the weather is re-rolled whenever you move to another area (any area)
- except when you have a blizzard. The blizzard lasts indefinitely *unless*
- you go to the Frozen Brook or Spine of the Icewyrm. You *cannot* have
- a blizzard in these areas. Furthermore, the blizzard is not one of the
- possible rolls when moving within the Paramina Rift.
- - Thus, the fastest way to do this is to trigger a blizzard, then move
- back and forth between Icebound Flow and Silverflow's End.
- - Get the Damascus off Anchag as well.
- \\\ Spine of the Icewyrm ||
- Lost & Found: White Incense (Garuda-Egi - MG)
- - Turn off your Gambits, so you won't kill them while they're over
- the gorge. There are three of them, but occasionally one of them refuses
- to spawn in which case you need to move closer towards the south end.
- - The Cat-ear Hood is an accessory this time around. It increases your
- Speed by 50 and Vitality by 20 (no idea what these bonuses amount to
- in practice).
- Theft: Aquarius Gem (Facer) \\\ Stilshrine of Miriam - Walk of Reason ||
- Theft: Taurus Gem (Seeker) \\\ Tomb of Raithwall ||
- \\\ Feywood ||
- Lost & Found: Serpent Eye (Basilisk - MG)
- \\\ Feywood - Walk of Stolen Truths ||
- Lost & Found: Hell-Gate's Flame (Cerberus - MG)
- \\\ Nam-Yensa Sandsea - Yellow Sands ||
- Theft: Wargod's Band (Victanir (Trophy))
- - Victanir has a 40% chance to spawn near the path to Zertinan Caverns.
- It'll start off invisible, but you should be able to see its camouflage.
- Either way, it'll attack you and become visible when it sees you.
- - Use the save point at Yensa Border Tunnel, then load the game if it
- doesn't spawn.
- \\\ Cerobi Steppe - Feddik River ||
- Theft: Scarletite (Aspidochelon (Trophy))
- - Aspidochelon has a 40% chance to spawn.
- \\\ Northsward ||
- Item (b): Assassin's Arrows (DA)
- - You could also try scoring this occasionally. The barrel in question
- spawns by a small rock thingie at the midpoint of the north edge.
- This'll be easier once you have the airship, as it can drop you down
- to the save point.
- \\\ Crossfield ||
- Items (b): Icecloud Arrows (DA), Ribbon (DA)
- - The barrel with the Icecloud Arrows spawns by the trees north when you
- come from Journey's Rest (not the one behind the trap).
- - The barrel with the Ribbon spawns next to the rocks west when you come
- from the Northsward.
- Item (b): Artemis Arrows (DA) \\\ Terraced Bank ||
- - This one is by the edge of the cliff north when coming from North
- Liavell Hills (close to the structure).
- \\\ Dalmasca Westersand - Corridor of Sand ||
- Lost & Found: Arcana (Dustia)
- - You need to farm 20 Arcanas in order to create 2 High Arcanas. You
- should already have a bunch of them. It's a fairly common Monograph
- drop from any Rare Monster.
- - The best way to get the stuff (without the CJ) is by fighting Dustia.
- It spawns in your location if one of your characters is below 10% HP
- (but not dead). Also, Dustia won't respawn unless you leave the
- Westersand, although it makes little difference. To get below 10%, kill
- a character, give them a Phoenix Down and a Potion, then hit them with
- Graviga.
- - If you've been doing hunts, you've probably unlocked the Canopic Jar,
- which would allow you to score Arcanas from any normal enemy. However,
- this stuff bacomes essentially useless after unlocking the Tournesol,
- so you should still go with the Dustia option and save 250 grand.
- - Well, that's it. Once you have all the materials (6 Wargod's Bands,
- 6 Damascus, etc.), you need to sell the minimum amount required for the
- synthesis, buy the result, then do it again. Make sure you synthesize
- Empyreal Soul and Serpentarius at the same time, so you don't have to
- make more High Arcanas.
- - You could save yourself from a little extra material hunting if you
- waited until you can unlock the Masamune as well, but that's not until
- you're almost done with the final dungeon.
- - The Tournesol is a 2-handed sword with an ATP of 140.
