  1. [05:59] Francis Drake: Yooh, you wouldn't happen to have a sec, would ya? I know you're set to Busy, so if there's a lot going on it's alright, I can check by later.
  2.
  3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4.
  5. [05:59] Ex-Ranger Padraigin: Nah i'm free.
  6.
  7. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. [06:05] Francis Drake: Oh, great! So listen, there's been several complaints about you in general. Two just today, like eight or so in the past? It's something we take note of but without any real basis they're not acted upon because if people just hate someone for the sake of it, that's an individual problem, right? Some of the issues there are something ya gotta start watching out for, though.
  10.
  11. Just out of general consideration and all. I appreciate dropping stuff when people clearly and OOCly ask you to and I'm not gonna hold anything related to that against you, that's exactly how it should go and all, but you gotta realize it's really easy for people to catch some of your behavior as some childish 'last word' stuff, right?
  12.
  13. Most even call you a godmodder, but I mean. That's something I don't feel in any direction about, if they don't want to RP with you they can just say 'nah thanks' in OOC. It's mostly that you should watch how your actions can really easily be interpreted as snarky or one-uppance. And don't think this is some single person's vendetta, there are a lot of unrelated parties that've mentioned this. I don't mind spending time and figuring this out step by step if you've got something to explain it, but if it was just a series of fuck-ups and you're gonna promise to look out for it yourself, I'll consider the matter handled without any huge mess.
  14.
  15. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16.
  17. [06:11] Ex-Ranger Padraigin: I promise to look out for myself, but I don't blame anyone complaining about me coming off as Snarky at all, despite my best efforts my method of speech and how I word things naturally just, comes off as almost annoying, and it's easy for that to easily piss people off, and I really don't mean it.
  18.
  19. The god modder accusations, ehh, I dunno. A lot of people seem to want OC's to just fall over and instantly die when challenged, and I get it, there really is no way to showcase an OC's power level accurately in a digestible format, because they're not from any source material to use as a reference. But Padra has died in almost every single fight she's been in, and she has yet to actually win a fight. I would like to hear more on how I could improve in that regard, as I don't really understand how I could come across as a god modder- unless of course we're talking about me from a while ago in the past, when my fate lore was horribly bad.
  20.
  21. I hold no hard feelings OOCly, Assassin Padra is a ass but that's just how she is, like a canon Jalter would be as bad, if not worse than her. And lily padra is just an innocent girl who likes to help people. OOC is OOC and IC is IC, they stay separate, someone wants to drop it they can and I respect that decision. Apologies that you have to take time out of your day to deal with this however, I only hope this isn't too much of a hassle in the future.
  22.
  23. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  24.
  25. [06:19] Francis Drake: Yeah, I presume that most of the 'argument' complaints were just indifferent frustration because you were still learning stuff and naturally misunderstood a lot of stuff about the lore. That's why I personally don't really care much about those complaints because it happens to everyone who wants to learn more. Minor hiccups here and there don't matter much, and please. I'm part of the moderation team because I wanna make sure as many people as possible have a decent time.
  26.
  27. I get that some people just naturally come across as abrasive or annoying. We, the moderators, dealt with a similar situation before and it more or less just boiled down to telling the person to step back and chill a few seconds to think about whether there's some annoyance OOC involved. That seems to have helped a bit.
  28.
  29. As far as OCs and power levels go, well. That's mostly a matter of writing and character development and I don't think there ever are right or wrong answers there. I can talk about it if you're trying to figure out something specific and would want an outsider opinion on it, but it's not part of the job description to force someone to RP in a specific way, that's just silly.
  30.
  31. One thing that I think could help out a lot, at least as a simple safety net in the future is if, say, you got into a public interaction with someone that lasted for a while and early on you'd just throw them a PM that states something along the lines of 'yo, I know my character's grating and not soft-spoken, so if it ever starts annoying you OOCly lemme know and I'll take some distance' or something along those lines.
  32.
  33. That tends to be the case with a lot of the more abrasive character types like Gilgamesh or Jalter; when played close to how they behave in the most popular portrayals, they're insufferable in public channels and a lot of people hold no small amount of contempt for Gil players as a result. Especially since he is essentially untouchable in most circumstances. Like yeah, obviously it's just OOC in OOC and IC in IC, but it helps people keep their thoughts in check more than you think by giving them that tiny reminder that the player is just chill and it's all just a character. Even decent people occasionally end up blurring the line when they are OOCly in a bad mood.
  34.
  35. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36.
  37. [06:27] Ex-Ranger Padraigin: Yeah arguments are kinda silly, I am still learning, and there is just so much to fate lore and so few, reliable resources outside certain lore masters to get that lore from in an accurate way. People get into arguments all the time over mistranslations, misrepresentation and poor media examples.
  38.
  39. Yeah I am unfortunately one of those people, I come across quite badly just by nature, and despite my efforts there's really not much I have found that is able to deal with that. I just learn to roll with it and hopefully cause as little trouble for the moderation and room as possible.
  40.
  41. I have continually stuck to one of the more renowned lore people whenever I consider anything balance wise for my OC's. I have ran my character outlines, general power, and various other statistics through Gudao before I have used them. So far everything I have done has been sticking to what he's approved previously, I have considered other "lore people" for advice but I have noticed Gudao to be one of the best sources for that, if I do have any balance questions I can be sure to ask you as well too.
  42.
  43. I will take that advice happily, and apply it in the future. I'm sure that might help plenty with Padraigin's perception, though I have taken to playing her less abrasive lily self more often lately, as it seems to cause much less trouble.
  44.
  45. and I get that, anger can bleed IC to OOC perceptions, that's just natural and something I have had to deal with in my seven plus years of RP. I totally understand the frustrations, and try to forgive those who have them as much as I can.
  46.
  47. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  48.
  49. [06:41] Francis Drake: Righty-O. So, these should help keep you in better shape in the future, but do you remember the last time moderation contacted you?
  50.
  51. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  52.
  53. [06:41] Ex-Ranger Padraigin: I do, I was warned that from now on any warnings would be more, serious, and eventually lead to disciplinary action
  54.
  55. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  56.
  57. [06:42] Francis Drake: Yuhup. There's a pretty clear progression when dealing with consecutive complaints, so it's gonna be a 24 hour timeout and then you're good to go assuming nothing else happens. Everyone's bound to the same rules and all. The key for avoiding those kindsa situations in your position is to err on the side of caution and preferably disengage too much rather than engaging for too long.
  58.
  59. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  60.
  61. [06:42] Ex-Ranger Padraigin: Makes sense, I will keep this in mind.
  62.
  63. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  64.
  65. [06:46] Francis Drake: Alright. Time stamp's at around 5AM in 21st of July, GMT, so you should be able to get back the same time during the 22nd!
  66.
  67. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. [06:47] Ex-Ranger Padraigin: sounds good.
