Personality: she’s so paranoid that people won’t like her that she tries her best to appear happy and polite to everyone. but to the others, ms. ja, her few friends, and her family, she’s got more of an actual personality. she doesn’t get mad too easily, but being rude to her friends is definitely a way to get on her bad side. she’s kinda scary when she positively hates someone, which happens rarely, but if she is that angry at someone, she’s cold and rude, her politeness disappearing in an instant. she’s got a very cheerful can-do attitude, but she’s lacking in the education area (she can’t read, write, do math, anything). she’s a hard-working person and trusting person, but her childish personality prompts the other three to leaving her out of big discussions, leaving her confused many times (esp if she’s the youngest of the four). she doesn’t understand lots of things that grown-ups say. mostly, she comes off as a happy-go-lucky but harmless person, and that is true to an extent. she doesn’t understand most jokes and doesn’t get any perverted references, but doesn’t let that bother her. tries not to sugarcoat things. very sensitive emotionally. she’s carefree and wants an adventure, but wants a normal life at the same time. she’s sweet and can be very straightforward, complementing even random strangers. is very energetic, to the point that she’s hyperactive. she just wants to make everyone smile.

Backstory: lin was born into a huge family, the house nearly splitting at the seams with the amount of people living in it. with her parents, grandma, and seven siblings, lin had a very boisterous childhood. her parents and grandma tended to pay little to no attention to the younger kids, leaving lin, her younger brother, and her older sister to be taken care of by the even older siblings. the family happened to be poor in addition to large, and all the kids would be odd jobs around town to earn money, which is how lin learned to use knives (she worked at a restaurant in the nearest village). her oldest brother went off to seek fortune in other, faraway lands, and lin hasn’t had contact with him since he left. when lin was eleven, her older brother confessed to her and her (only) younger brother that he was actually a she, that she was a transgirl. lin and her younger brother helped their older sister run away, something she had wanted to do ever since realizing how transphobic their family was. lin hasn’t had contact with her, either. a few years after that spectacle, when lin was fourteen years old, a particularly nasty storm sent a bolt of lightning to strike her house, setting the place on fire, leaving lin (plus her runaway sister and off-in-some-other-land brother) the only survivor(s). lin was a ghost of a person for a long time, drifting from place to place, until the three found her and managed to return her to her previous, happy state.

[BEG] - acquaintances-to-friends issue. lin really likes hanging out with tzuyu, she realizes, and finds tzuyu very pretty.
[MID] - through a series of awkwardly-kinda-romantic events, lin realizes she’s fallen for tzuyu. problem is, tzuyu still thinks she’s a boy (she decided to keep the amount of people who knew she was a girl to a minimum). they’re kinda-sorta-maybe unofficially dating.
[END] - after the whole ordeal, lin sits tzuyu down at spills everything- her powers, her background, her gender, everything. tzuyu takes everything in stride, comforting her, and lin once again attempts to confess. it works, and tzuyu even calls her ‘my prince’. she’s now #blessed.

Are they out of the closet?: most people assume she’s a guy, and neither she nor anyone else corrects them, so her preference for girls doesn’t really matter. she’s out and about to the people who matter (except for tzuyu, but that’s a problem for another time).

How did they meet?: it was on the street. tzuyu had dropped something, and both she and lin reached down to pick it up, touching hands in the process. they looked up into each others’ eyes, and the ‘trance’ was broken when lin chuckled awkwardly and announced, “well, this is cliche”.

Occupation: works at ms. ja’s.

Other: pretty much everyone thinks she’s a boy, except for the other three, ms. ja, and some others like (the crown)’s bodyguard and flint, the ex-slave. they refer to her as a ‘he’ in public and a ‘she’ when it’s just them.

Note to me: the reason i chose male fcs for a female character is bc i don’t think the gender of the fc should have anything to do w/ the gender of the character. i hope you don’t mind! also, lin actually started out as a guy, but then i figured that other appliers would probz be making their characters male, so i made her a girl instead. i hope the personality is detailed enough!! if it’s not, just write her as whatever vibe she gives you, yeah?? and sorry that i chose tzuyu as the love interest, she’s kind a cliche and overrated choice, isn’t she?? i just really like her!! and yeah!! i’m looking forward to this!! a lot!!
