- STRAFE®
- Sgt Nate V's cut
- Written by
- Nathaniel Ryley
- Based on some trailers by PIXEL TITANS.
- NARRATOR:
- In the year of 1994, there was a man named Stephen Raney. He experimented with a little game featuring levels that generated themselves. The game was nothing more than a project that he intended to play for fun. But the game slowly but surely began to generate a mind of its own. The game soon reshaped itself into madness. Into something with lifelike graphics. Into something far bloodier than our world.
- [As the narrator narrates, we see a man in his lab, Stephen Raney, future CEO of PIXEL TITANS, coding a game on a computer. We then cut to him playing the game. The game shown is a first-person adventure game. Soon, the game is shown evolving into what we know as STRAFE®. We cut to a view of what we see as a low poly Earth in space. The STRAFE® logo forms as it does in the commercial and trailers.]
- [Cut to a wide shot of the E3 Building. Text in bottom left says;
- E3 BUILDING, LOS ANGELES 1995
- We then cut to a presentation room with a PIXEL TITANS Spokesman on stage in front of a curtain.]
- Spokesman:
- And for our next presentation,
- STRAFE®!
- [The curtain behind the Spokesman opens after walks to the side of the stage. Gameplay of STRAFE® is shown, starting from 1-1 with the Shotgun. Gameplay ends after one minute. That, however, is enough to spark the audience’s interests. The Spokesman walks back to the center of the stage.]
- Spokesman:
- STRAFE®. Is it a game? Or is it REAL?
- [As soon as the spokesman finishes his sentence, A GLUTTON runs out from behind the curtains, smacks the Spokesman in the face, knocking him out, and jumps up to the audience to menace them, particularly Tommy the protagonist of this story, before turning into a wireframe and disappearing. The spokesman gets back on his feet and wipes the blood off his face while chuckling.]
- Spokesman:
- STRAFE®, The soon-to-be best game of 1996!
- [Show crowd cheering, cut to a view of Tommy cheering with the crowd.]
- [MAY, 1996]
- [Cut to montage of news reports.]
- NEWSMAN:
- STRAFE® is what game critics are calling the best game of 1996. And they’re not lying.
- [Cut to] NEWSMAN 2:
- STRAFE®’s lifelike visuals and changing levels are sure to grab the attention of every gamer!
- [Cut to] Guy that’s interviewed:
- STRAFE® literally blew a kid’s head to bits! That’s [BLEEP]ing sick and awesome!
- [Cut to a night in the alley. We see Tommy, bag of POGS in hand, coming up to a shady dealer.]
- TOMMY:
- You got STRAFE®?
- DEALER:
- Yup.
- [Tommy gives the dealer the POGS. He then goes behind him and picks up a box marked STRAFE (no ® symbol) on it.]
- TOMMY:
- I only need one copy.
- DEALER:
- Kid, that IS one copy!
- [The dealer then kicks the box down, revealing about 666 disks, each with the STRAFE® logo on the label.]
- DEALER:
- Take it quick, the government’s coming.
- TOMMY:
- But-
- [Tommy is cut off as the dealer grabs a pistol from his pocket and shoots himself in the ear. Blood splatters on the wall near him. Tommy quickly grabs the box and rides home quickly on his skateboard as red and blue lights flash, indicating a police car is near.]
