- Mik vs. Coco
- This was a debate where both debaters made good use of strategy and team synergy to base their win cons on, with Mik arguing that Council of Wererats couldn't withstand both Shooters fire from the front and Widow's Electricity from the back, and Coco arguing that Mik's Pik's would be distracted by his tank leaving his backline to shank those distracted. Neither debater denied or argued against the others strategy, and neither of these strategies contradict each other. So what matters is which team is more able to enact their win condition against the other.
- I overall believe that Obould can sponge damage from the opposing team- not indefinitely, but long enough for it to matter. Between having a directly superior electric resistance feat, armor that can tank boulder splitting arrows, and a helmet that can protect Obould from a crossbow bolt exploding at PBR, I don't see him going down quickly. Mik cast enough doubt on Obould's speed that I don't foresee him landing hits, but he can play sacrificial lamb long enough. I think Six isn't likely to open with his swords and will indeed hold back against people, but between Coco posting striking feats for Six and no durability feats ever being posted by Mik, I don't see how it matters one way or the other. Aoshi's speed to me is, while not completely bulletproof, is clearly fast enough to complete what he needs to do here. I know that feats>statements, but statements as clear as "your thrust surpasses the speed of the rifle" can only be downplayed so much. Overall, I find the "tank+backline" strategy sound.
- While the strategy of "teleports behind you and electrocutes" is a sound one, I was unconvinced that Widow would be able to do this to any effect. As posited by Coco and never denied by Mik, her first target wil be Obould, who clearly has much better electric resistance than she can put out, having a directly superior feat. I also think her too slow to tag anyone other than Obould, with only one speed feat I consider decent for this tier and numerous other feats brought up that showcase her slowmth. She finds herself quickly incapped. Gorgon fares better, having at least one very clean bullet timing feat, but his antifeats were explained away by only being applicable when he is distracted or facing multiple combatants (the exact same situation that Coco is proposing Gorgon will find himself in) so I find him unlikely to survive either. This leaves Shooter, doubtlessly the highlight of Mikhails team, in a situation where he has to either 2v1 or 3v1 (depending on if Obould is still alive at this time) Coco's entire team, and I just don't think he can do it. Between Aoshi's afterimages/oboulds deceptive tactics/Six's stealth+ coco's backline clearly being able to react to bullets/bullet speed attacks from very close range, I just don't see a way Shooter can shoot his way out.
- This was a very close match, and neither side was flawless. If Mikhail had posted striking resistance feats for his team or antifeats for Six, or explained Gorgon's antifeats away in a different manner than exactly what Coco was proposing, or argued against Coco's general strategy at all, I could see this ending differently. And Coco made missteps of his own, repeatedly relied on scaling to unquantified parties ("as skilled as Kenshin", "slower than Daredevil", "skin that resists 'big cat's") and tried to treat the tourneys rules as a bloodlust, which has never worked and shouldn't work here. Ultimately, as stands, The Council of Wererats/Coconut-Crab wins, due to superior synergy and stronger picks.
