  1. This pastebin is just ramblings on what a frlg coop diploma tas could look like. It's not possible to make currently as mgbahawklink is not (to my knowledge) developed but it's still nice to think about the potential ideas.
  2.
  3. RNG Manipulation:
  4. I'm not too knowledgeable on frlg rng manipulation but from what I've seen, rng manipulation for this kind of tas will likely be *really* hard. In the current frlg r2 tas, everything seems to be planned out several steps ahead. For example, unopened closure said that rng manipulation for crits in the Pokemon Tower and the Rocket Hideout started all the way in *rock tunnel*. When you consider that a hypothetical tas like this would likely require using weaker pokes and thus, require more crits..... yeah it's gonna be rough.
  5.
  6. Pickup Candy:
  7. It would honestly be a shame if the strat ends up being to just catch a bunch of Meowth and pick up Rare Candies cause a lot of the fun on working on the gen 2 diploma tas was using different pokes as main battlers to level them up. For reference, here are the minimum amount of levels required:
  8.
  9. Bulbasaur: 27021 (5-32)
  10. Squirtle: 39872 (5-36)
  11. Charmander: 39872 (5-36)
  12. Metapod: 271 (9-10)
  13. Kakuna: 271 (9-10)
  14. Pidgeotto: 4038 (37-38)
  15. Rhyhorn: 70640 (26-42)
  16. Omanyte: 63875 (5-40)
  17. Kabuto: 63875 (5-40)
  18. Dragonair: 154375 (35-55)
  19.
  20. That comes out to 464,110 exp. The total amount of exp you can get by playing through all of the start + every required battle to get Mewtwo is approximately 200,000. If we assume boosted exp for all of the fights (which is likely the case thanks to lucky egg + trade bonus), that comes out to 300,000 for one game. Do note that the second game wouldn't just give out another 300,000 as only of the games actually needs to complete the game.
  21.
  22. Eevee:
  23. Eevee will be tricky to deal with. We need 3 Eevee for the 3 evolutions and FR and LG combined gets 2 free ones from the Celadon Mansion. However, unlike the originals, you can breed Eevee on Four Island to get the third Eevee. The issue is that doing so is SLOOOOOOOOOW. Eevee requires 35 egg cycles to hatch, far more than pretty much every other poke, which comes out to a wooping 8960 steps. And keep in mind that Flame Body/Magma Armor do not reduce steps for hatching until Emerald. The worst part is that breeding isn't unlocked until the post game. After getting the Eevee egg at the earliest possible moment and taking the other mandatory steps from the last remaining sidequests + Mewtwo, it's almost certain that the Eevee egg wouldn't even be close to hatching (I would genuinely be surprised if it's even halfway through tbh). We would likely need to bite the bullet and go through the extremely slow task of biking around to hatch Eevee unless some very dumb reset strat somehow ends up being worth it.
  24.
  25. Dragonair:
  26. This one is a weird one. Dragonair can come at level 35 in the Safari Zone but a) it's a 1% encounter and b) its level range is between 25 and 35. Getting a lvl 35 Dragonair encounter alone is a 1/1000 chance, and that's before you consider the likely possibility of needing good stats on it. If we give the very generous assumption of needing one perfect stat and 2 possible natures, it comes out to an estimate of a 1/387,500 chance. For reference, the perfect Clefable unopenedclosure got in his tas was about a 1/300,312.5 chance. And that was with *stricter* stat/nature requirements for Clefable compared to the extremely generous requirements for Dragonair. And considering that we would need to manip it later in the game, it's almost certain that manipping it would require a save and quit. Planning it out so that we get the Dragonair w/o significant timeloss + everything else seems like it's on the cutting edge of impossible. Even if we were forced to take a S+Q for it, it would likely be worth it as getting it a lvl 35 saves a massive amount of exp.
  27.
  28. The only other way out is if it was somehow possible to advance millions of frames in a short amount of time although I doubt that exists/is feasible to do in the run.
