  1.
  2. She had passed by here at least a dozen times. It should be easy by now. But her nerves never quite got used to sneaking past raiders. Getting close enough that any twig breaking and tin can scattering would alert them. It never got easier.
  3.
  4. This spot, in downtown Boston near Hallucigen, was a popular spot for raiders to set up a couple sentries. A bottleneck between two buildings made a perfect spot for raiders to sit and wait for unlucky individuals on their way to Goodneighbor or on their way into Downtown Boston.
  5.
  6. Today was no different. Sure enough, there they sat, lazily keeping an eye on the alley and small intersection overlooked by their perch. Nora and her companion Cait had business in Goodneightbor, and taking a detour all the way around this block of city would keep them out past nightfall, not to mention that area has it's own dangers: mutants. Dealing with them is often worse than dealing with raiders. No, this is the best course. But that doesn't make it any easier.
  7.
  8. As Nora and her companion Cait advanced through the rubble, they ducked low when the clearing came into view. Two raiders, both seated, talking to each other. The usual.
  9.
  10. Nora took the lead, and stayed low while moving slowly through the clearing. She was below the raiders on their raised platform, so they would need to stand to see her, but if they simply did so, their discovery would be easy. The raiders were only about 30 meters away.
  11.
  12. "Can you believe all we've eaten for weeks is that boxed Salisbury Steak we found in that shipping truck? I'm getting right sick of it. It's disgustin' enough without it being the only thing for two weeks."
  13.
  14. "It's better'n bein' hungry like I was before I joined this crew. At least it's something"
  15.
  16. "Yeah, but shit, it won't hurt to look around for something else at least"
  17.
  18. The usual inane raider conversations. If they're not complaining, then they're recounting the story killing someone, with varying degrees of gruesome detail.
  19.
  20. As nervous as she was, things were going well. She was about halfway across the courtyard, and last she looked, Cait was also silently following about 10 meters behind her. Just a few more seconds and they will be clear.
  21.
  22. But that's when she felt a hand placed firmly on her back. Not a shove, but not the sort of thing Cait would normally do when she wants Nora's attention. Nora spun around as silently as she could, to face her attacker, but she was only met with Cait's grinning face. As happy as she is to see her, this was hardly the time and place for fooling around. They could die if they make too much noise.
  23.
  24. She gives Cait a quizzical look, and tips her head to the side, but Cait takes a crouching step forward, toward Nora, and almost bumps right into her. Nora tries to take a step back but she wasn't expecting Cait to just start walking agin, and her efforts to remain quiet compromised her footing, so she ends up on her butt and on her back, on a pile of garbage that was piled up in the road near where they were walking. Thankfully, a very quiet pile of garbage.
  25.
  26. Nora gives Cait a more more emphatic "what?!" facial expression this time, but Cait doesn't say much. She takes another crouched step forward, now practically on top of Nora. It doesn't take a third step for her to be actually on top of Nora.
  27.
  28. Cait sets her weapon down next to her, and uses her free hands to grab a hold of both of Nora's wrists. Nora didn't really make much of an effort to avoid the larger woman, other than a quick swat at her arm as a "not now, quit that" sort of gesture, that was summilarily ignored by the redhead.
  29.
  30. With both of her wrists held tight, Nora just looks at Cait with a furrowed brow. Hopefully it conveys what she is trying to impart, which is bewilderment that Cait would start fooling around at a time like this. She tries really hard not to say no to Cait, but every once in a while, some of the situations they are in are completely inappropriate for Cait's antics. This is such a case, considering the danger. This isn't much more dangerous than the time next to a sleeping Mirelurk Queen, but nonetheless, Nora hated these romps. She was much more...conservative than Cait.
  31.
  32. Her thoughts were interrupted by Cait's tongue entering her mouth. As Cait leans in, she thrusts Nora's arms above her head, and their faces meet. Cait puts Nora's arms together above her head, and uses one hand to hold them there. Her other hand finds its way to Nora's chin, and she lifts her wife's chin to meet her own. Cait's strong kissing pushed all other thoughts out of Nora's mind, and she was now focused on the redhead on top of her.
  33.
  34. In the back of her mind, however, she was excruciatingly aware of every little sound either of them made. She wasn't sure if Cait had the same concerns or it was blind luck, but the raiders above them seem unaware of their presence.
  35.
  36. Between her own weight and the weight of the woman on top of her, some of the debris and rubble was uncomfortably digging into Nora's back, but there wasn't much she could do about that now. Cait didn't seem to be in the mood for noticing, and she couldn't adjust herself under the weight of the taller woman.
  37.
  38. This went on for minutes, but they felt excruciatingly long considering the circumstance of trying to be quiet. Every rustling of the rubble and every shifting of bodies could alert the raider sentries, and even the pair's heavier breathing became a concern.
  39.
  40. Cait seems to have had her fill, and leans back, only straddling Nora now. She wipes her arm across her chin, and smirks at the woman under her. She raises her eyebrows a couple times, in a sort of "How'd you like that?" expression, and then crouches and slides off of Nora, surveying the area around them.
  41.
  42. Nora isn't quite so quick to recover, and she is left on her back for a minute, breathing heavily and looking at the sky catching her breath.
  43.
  44. When her heart rate finally slows and her breathing isn't so ragged, Nora rises into a crouch, and the pair continue on their way as if nothing had happened. Other than the dumb grin plastered on Cait's face for the next 20 minutes.
  45.
  46. Never a dull moment with Cait.
