  1. The Venetian Chronicles: Evelyn DeKorte
  2. Yuuko: (fumbling with the camera before mounting it on a tripod. Before adjusting the focus on the camera and Clearing her throat) this is Council envoy Yuuko Shirakawa, agent of the dragon, and historian for the archives in Dublin Ireland. As part of the Chronicles initiative, I am interviewing active agents from the 21st century so that future generations may better understand the context in which events are taking place. This session is being recorded on 03-12-2016 in Greenfield Ireland, at the Green residence.
  3. Yuuko: could you please state your full name, date of birth, affiliation and rank.
  4. Evelyn: <Her eyes intent on Yuuko, expressionless. She has a low, monotone voice.> Evelyn DeKorte. Birthdate, August 30th, 1989. I’m affiliated with the Dragon, and am an investigator with the faction-neutral “Hollow Earth Consulting.” My rank would probably be something ominous-sounding--The “Dissolution”, perhaps?
  5. Yukko: Can you tell us about your family?
  6. Evelyn: I’m an orphan. I don’t usually like sharing my past with people.
  7. My mother died when I was six years old, in the Yukon. We were on vacation. Official papers say we were trapped in an ice blizzard, but… that wasn’t what happened. It was where I met my first monster.
  8. After that, my father raised me alone. And the monster stayed inside him… until I was twelve, when he was discovered. After he was arrested, I went to live with my grandparents in Ontario. He’s dead now. Really dead. Killed last year. My friends helped. <Pause.> Can we move on?
  9. Yuuko: Where did you grow up?
  10. Evelyn: White Rock, BC. Canada. I had a different name back then. Later, moved to Toronto, Ontario.
  11. Yuuko: How would you describe your childhood?
  12. Evelyn: Bad. I lost my mother--and my hearing--when I was six years old. Lot of trauma. Lot of fear. And, after my dad was arrested, a lot of anger. I don’t blame him for most of it… I know he tried his best, given what he laboured under. I know he tried to protect me. But in the end… in the end, he was only human.
  13. Yuuko: How were you first introduced to the secret world?
  14. Evelyn: I’d say my first monster attack gave me a taste. After I saw what happened to my dad, I couldn’t deny it to myself anymore. I knew there was a cover-up. It became a bit of a hobby to research. I suppose I was a bit like David Screed, in those days--certainly ran in the same online circles. It was enough to become an irritant to a certain major society. If it hadn’t been for the bee, I’d likely have been... <Pause> Well, who knows? Killed? Arrested? Hired? One of those.
  15. Yuuko: did you have any contact (either directly or indirectly) with your society before your powers awakened?
  16. Evelyn: They’ve been aware of me for a long time. When it’s the Dragon, they can see you before you’re … you. At the very least, they knew about my first monster--and the Templars had a couple files on my family and I from different reports. The Illuminati, I irritated in my adulthood. But it was the Dragon that was there to sweep me up after my exposure to the Education Protocol.
  17. Yuuko: Does anima sensitivity run in your family or are you the only one to develop powers?
  18. Evelyn: I don’t know. How do you measure anima sensitivity? How do you even detect it? Might be my family’s susceptible to possession by outside forces--but I wouldn’t know that for sure.
  19. Yuuko: Can you tell us what a normal day looks like for you?
  20. Evelyn: I have breakfast with my fiance, prepared by our hearth spirit. I work in and around an office in London. I have various case files I consult on from the HEC offices. Sometimes I get a mission from my faction--but less often, these days. Most of the time, I have to find trouble on my own. I use Twitter as a diversion. Keeps me in contact with people in my circles, allows for verbal sparring that keeps my mind sharp. Occasionally I people-watch. Go to DJ shows. But that’s difficult with my hearing sensitivities. I end a normal day back home in my fiance’s house. I won’t tell you where that is, but I’m sure it’s on record somewhere. It’s an unusual location, I’ll give you that much.
  21. Yuuko: has your work for your society ever brought you into contact with anyone who would be considered historically significant (world leaders, celebrities, scientist and engineers.)
  22. Evelyn: Not that I know of. Relations of celebrities, perhaps. But I’m not meant to be in the spotlight, and I don’t intend to be.
  23. Yuuko: Have you ever seen an event reported in the media and known that it was a lie and if so can you tell us what really happened?
  24. Evelyn: I’ve seen at least two stories in the news falsify my own personal history, and I am currently a suspect in the Tokyo Bombing incident--a result of our incursion into Orochi Tower. The last one you know already. As for my personal history, I’ve already talked enough about it.
  25. Yuuko: What was the last event you can remember that shook both the secret world and the mundane equally?
  26. Evelyn: I’d say the fallout of our findings in Kaidan was most significant. It certainly wiped out my private life. I can’t go home again--literally. It means I’ve submersed myself further into our so-called secret world… but it’s not the only incident I’ve seen affect the mundane world, not by a long shot.
  27. Yuuko: Have you ever participated in an event considered historically important to the mundane world and if so was it on behalf of your society
  28. Evelyn: I wouldn’t know, sorry. But my faction plays a long game. Maybe, one day, my contributions will result in something historic occurring. My hope is that it’s an aversion of the apocalypse. That’d be nice.
  29. Yuuko: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us agent DeKorte.
  30. Evelyn: Hmn. <Watches Yuuko until the camera switches off.>
