  1. Jinn was disappointed and unimpressed, but she was doing her best to hide it.
  2.
  3. When Link had told her of his home, she had envisioned something truly spectacular. Something befitting the champion of Hyrule, the man whom she loved. Perhaps a mighty castle with tall towers and a drawbridge. Maybe a vast mansion filled with the spoils of his many adventures. It could've been an underground lair filled with ancient Sheikah technology or a flying fortress above the clouds.
  4.
  5. She had been prepared for the most amazing things.
  6.
  7. What she hadn't expected was a two-story farmhouse covered in moss and vines with one bedroom, no kitchen, minimal storage space, and a lopsided chimney.
  8.
  9. Link was incredibly fond and proud of it. Jinn thought it might collapse if she sneezed on it.
  10.
  11. After crossing the rickety bridge, which she was quite thankful toward for not collapsing under her considerable weight, she had stood before the little house with a beaming Link by her side.
  12.
  13. And it was quite little to her. At nearly eleven feet tall and blessed with the imposing figure of a lynel, she was almost as large as the house itself. She knew for a fact that she would never fit through that tiny door.
  14.
  15. Then Link asked her what she thought of it.
  16.
  17. She cleared her throat and quickly gathered her thoughts. "Jinn thinks it is very..." She searched for the right word. "Cozy?"
  18.
  19. Link took no notice of her hesitance and simply beamed brighter. It was cozy! A cozy, little place all for him!
  20.
  21. He excitedly offered to show her around and she struggled to keep her smile as genuine as possible when she accepted.
  22.
  23. Trotting along behind him, Link showed her all the features his house had to offer. The sign marking the house as Link's, the space for storing firewood, the spacious backyard, its pond and shade tree, and the magnificent view, which Jinn had to admit was rather nice.
  24.
  25. Then Link asked her if she'd like to see the inside.
  26.
  27. She had done a double take as she looked down at his smiling face. He was sincere.
  28.
  29. Jinn opened her mouth, closed it, blinked, opened it again and tried to find the words.
  30.
  31. "Link..." She said at length. "Jinn... does not think that that is possible."
  32.
  33. Link continued to smile. He asked her what she meant.
  34.
  35. "Your house is very nice, Link." Jinn said. "But... it was made for little Hylians, not for a lynel like Jinn."
  36.
  37. Link's face fell as realization cut through his excess enthusiasm and dawned on him.
  38.
  39. Feeling somewhat uncomfortable, Jinn ran a large hand through her snowy mane. "Jinn is too big for your house, Link." She said.
  40.
  41. Link felt foolish. Of course she wouldn't fit in his house. He had gotten so excited about sharing his home with her that he had overlooked such a glaring detail.
  42.
  43. His shoulders slumped and his face flushed as embarrassment set in. He sighed and rubbed his face. He said that she was right and that of course his house was too small. He said that he had been overenthusiastic and that he was sorry for his mistake.
  44.
  45. Jinn smiled warmly and drew closer to him. She reached down to stroke his blonde hair with her thick, black, clawed fingers.
  46.
  47. "Do not be sorry, Link." She said soothingly. "Jinn is very happy you shared this with her. Please do not be sad."
  48.
  49. Link just sighed again and turned from her. He walked across the yard to the shade tree, placed his back against the trunk, and slid down until he was seated and looking defeated.
  50.
  51. Jinn sighed. Link could be so emotional sometimes.
  52.
  53. Trotting over, she lowered herself beside him and tucked her legs beneath her.
  54.
  55. Reaching out with a broad hand, she reached around his shoulders and drew him to her side. Resting against her muscular, equine body, Link sighed and closed his eyes. It wasn't long before he was gently snoring.
  56.
  57. Smiling and beaming herself now, Jinn looked out across the fields and valleys displayed by the view from Link's backyard. The breeze lightly ruffled her mane and the sun was so warm.
  58.
  59. Home.
  60.
  61. She liked the sound of that.
