  1. [OVERVIEW]
  2. - Alolan Golem's access to Magnet Pull allows it trap Steel-types, which is unique in ZU.
  3. - Alolan Golem has one of the highest attack stats in the tier, allowing it to be an incredibly powerful breaker as well, especially with Choice Band.
  4. - However, Alolan Golem low speed and lack of Sturdy like leaves it easily revenge killed by powerful super-effective attackers like Silvally-Ground, Leafeon, or Floatzel.
  5. - Lack of other viable options makes Alolan Golem fairly predictable as well.
  6. - Finally, running Alolan Golem means you can't run Golem, which is more versatile and overall a better Pokemon.

  20. Moves
  21. ========
  22. - Stone Edge is a great STAB move, packing high power and a higher critical hit chance, which makes up for its subpar accuracy.
  23. - Earthquake is used to hit things like Golem, Muk, and Pawniard.
  24. - Fire Punch is used to hit things Bronzor, Pawniard, and Tangela.
  25. - Volt Switch is used as a pivot move to deal some extra damage before switching out.
  26. - Wild Charge can be used for Electric-type STAB, but it makes Alolan Golem easier to revenge kill because it takes damage every time it hits
  27.
  28. Set Details
  29. ========
  30. - Magnet Pull allows Alolan Golem to trap Steel-types like Bronzor, Pawniard, or Probopass.
  31.
  32. Usage Tips
  33. ========
  34. - Bring Alolan Golem in on something it can safely trap, like Broznor or Probopass.
  35. - Even if the opponent doesn't have any Steel-types, Alolan Golem can still be used as a decent breaker or pivot. Switch on a weak attack or switch to minimize damage to make breaking safer. Try to use Stone Edge or Earthquake when you're going to break, as they're Alolan Golem main attacking moves. Pivoting should be done when the opponent's Pokemon has the winning matchup, but can still be damaged by Volt Switch.
  36.
  37. Team Options
  38. ========
  39. - Something to check Ground-types like Tangela, Swanna, Leafeon, Floatzel, or Rotom-Fan is much appreciated as Silvally-Ground and Sandslash are two of Alolan Golem's best checks.
  40. - Things that appreciate Steel-types being gone like Dragon-types, Grass-types, Toxic spreaders, etc.
  41. - Fighting-type checks like Gourgeist-Super, Muk, Beheeyem, or Swanna also make good partners for Alolan Golem because of it's poor matchup against things like Silvally-Fighting and Combuken.
  42. - Late-game cleaners that appreciate things Alolan Golem's slow Volt Switch like Scarf Electivire, Scarf Chatot, and NP Simipour make good partners for it.
  43. - Hazard removers such as Silvally-Fighting, Silvally-Water, or Altaria are helpful to prevent Alolan-Golem from taking to much chip damage.
  44.
  45. [STRATEGY COMMENTS]
  46. Other Options
  47. =============
  48. - Galvanize with moves like Double-Edge, Explosion, or Return can be run for some more powerful Electric-STAB.
  49.
  50. Checks and Counters
  51. ===================
  52.
  53. **Ground-types**: Silvally-Ground and Sandslash can take any of Alolan Golem's attacks and OHKO it back thanks to Alolan Golem's lack of Sturdy.
  54.
  55. **Faster Offensive Pokemon**: Similar to Ground-types, Alolan Golem's lack of Sturdy and average bulk leaves it easily KO'd by things like Swanna, Floatzel, and Shiftry.
  56.
  57. **Bulky Grass-types**: Servine and Bellossom can function as offensive checks by eating a hit and then OHKOing it (or Strength Sap in Bellossom's case), while Tangela and Gourgeist-Super work as defensive checks by stalling out Alolan Golem's PP.
  58.
  59. **Fighting-types**: Silvally-Fighting can eat any attack Alolan Golem can dish out and either OHKO it or use it to set-up, and then OHKO it. Combusken, while it can't switch in on Stone Edge or Earthquake, can easily OHKO Alolan Golem with Focus Blast or +2 Sky Uppercut.
