personality: Despite this young man's cutesy and soft exterior, the interior is quite different. Jiwoo tends to take things to heart to easily, or as the kids say "get in his feelings". He doesn't take anything very lightly, and many people tend to call him overemotional or a drama queen because he has a tendency to take things the wrong way or over-exaggerate how serious something is. Don't get me wrong, the kid is a sweetie - put any sort of animal in front of him and he's liable to collapse on the floor in happiness - but he doesn't handle emotions very well. Out of all the member's he seems to be the one who works (or overworks) himself the most, taking criticism to heart and being very determined to make people love not only him but the entire group.

He often monitors comments on their performances and takes notes on whatever the netizens are saying about him, and though he's been urged not to he pushes himself as hard as possible to please the fans. He loves pleasing people, as you might have been able to tell, and will randomly do any act of kindness to please others even at the expense of his own feelings and happiness. He tends to be more withdrawn in that way, hiding how he really feels about something because he thinks it will bother or worry others.

background: Jiwoo's family has never been the richest - his father ran his own business for many different things, but when he was nine they went bankrupt and fell so far behind in debt that they lost their home. The strain on their family caused his mother and father to divorce, and he and his mother moved in with his grandmother where they lived until Jiwoo became a trainee and moved into the trainee dorms. Both he and his mother shared the one extra bedroom his grandmother had, and basically relied on the older woman to keep them going. He was bullied at school not only for his poor family, but also for his small, feminine stature and higher voice.

When he began auditioning for idol companies, he was turned away four times for not having the kind of image they had in mind - he was too small, to girlish, or had too high and soft of a voice for their upcoming groups. He had almost given up, but at his last audition he was accepted. The bullying subsided somewhat during his trainee days, mostly because he had gotten close with some of the older trainees and the others laid off of him, but he still has a feeling to this day that they all think the same things of him - poor, girly, and too small to fit in with the concepts put upon them.

family: He only has his mother and grandmother now, after his grandfather passed when he was very young, but he is very close to both women and holds them above anyone, even himself.

mother; Kim Junghwa, who now works at a restaurant in the downtown area of where they live. She is someone he admires greatly, and he is a total mama's boy. Whenever something good happens to the group, he is always the first one with a cellphone out ready to call and share the news to her - she is his biggest fan, and he is hers. He constantly thanks her whenever they win awards or anything of the sort, and his members tease him often for how big of a baby he is around her.

grandmother; Choi Minsoo, a retired teacher who likes to cook in her free time (she's most likely behind his mother's new job). She is the second most important person in Jiwoo's life, as she taught him everything he knows about cooking, singing, and life in general. She's a headstrong and stubborn old woman, and while she's a bit too frail to be doing much, makes an effort to go to every show she's invited to and cheer her grandson on, with banners and light sticks to match.

likes: Animals and babies are a big weakness to Jiwoo, and he has begged the manager to slip some money to Return of Superman a thousand times to get him on the show (you didn't hear it from me). Basically anything small and cute, he has a weakness for despite being cute and tiny himself. He loves cakes, pies, and any baked goods, but won't each chocolate to save his life. He likes playing games, physical and digital, and has a competitive streak that would be funny if he wasn't so serious about it. As a younger member, he's expected to be childish and he is in the form of collectables; he has too many action figures and stuffed animals to count, and a bad habit of buying more every time he sees them. It's become an addiction, really - the members are worried for his health and the amount of living space they have.


dislikes: Spicy foods are a no go for Jiwoo - he'll squirm and refuse to eat them like a child, and doesn't fair too well with seafood either. A rather picky eater, this one. He hates being pranked or scared too; hidden cameras always result in him crying and having to be comforted, and scare pranks result in a fee he has to pay because he screamed and kicked whatever came at him. He is constantly whining about having to get up early in the morning, despite the fact that he's been doing it his whole life, and is not a morning person in the slightest, having to be babied and woken up with food or he'll be grumpy the entire day. More seriously, Jiwoo dislikes being looked down on and condescended; he isn't a child, and he doesn't need people assuming that he can't do this or that just because he's small or young. He's liable to prove you wrong and then act petty about it, and when he gets angry he can hold grudges for a childishly long amount of time, so beware.

habits: Jiwoo has a habit of messing with his fingers when nervous or anxious - he'll intertwine them, pop his knuckles, tap them on things, and if that's not enough to put him at ease he'll tug at his sleeves or twist them in the palm of his hand. He's petulant like a child, and if he doesn't get his way or get's angry about something he'll furrow his brow and clench his fists, pouting like a child unconsciously even when he doesn't realize it. He also covers his mouth when laughing, not even realizing it unless he sees a picture from a fansite or someone points it out. When smiling or extremely happy, his nose will crinkle up in an arrow shape.

hobbies: Living with two women, it was practically a given that Jiwoo would learn to cook. He finds comfort in it and finds it fun, always cooking for his members or asking (annoying them) if they want to go to the store and buy ingredients with him. Besides that, singing is Jiwoo's main hobby. He sings all the time - while cooking, reading, and especially in the shower. His members often complain that it's annoying, but Jiwoo knows that they love his singing so he ignores them anyways.

- Owns more of his other members clothes than he does himself. Literally, he is always seen wearing items that are obviously the other members because they are much too big for him.
- A big girl group fan, and owns merch for his favorites that he hides in his closet out of embarrassment. He doesn't freak out about them often, but can name more girl group songs and dances than he can male groups.
- Actually a big fan of rap, which you wouldn't expect from him but he is, especially American rappers. He keeps up with mainstream pop and it's current rap trends, and dabs and does the running man dance more than should be allowed.
- Is teaching himself English in his free time, as mentioned earlier. He doesn't have a teacher and often mispronounces his words, but the fans find it more endearing and cute than embarrassing.
- Takes Halloween waaay too seriously, and every year picks out the members matching outfits himself with no room for argument. He's always really proud of the result no matter how embarrassed his members are.
- A certified neat freak, always having his things neat and in order and practically being a maid with how much he cleans up after the other members. He complains about it all the time, but doesn't actually care that much as in the process he usually takes one or two things of the other members back to his room.
- Wants a dorm dog so so so badly and is always looking up local adoption centers online with dogs for adoption to show the manager. No one really listens to him because they know he won't take care of it and they'll end up cleaning and feeding it all the time, but they don't stop him from begging every single day either.

stage name: various stage names were considered for the young man (wei, uri, byeol being a few tossed in the air) but ultimately Jiwoo was given the name "Ara" due to it's multiple meanings of "be beautiful/good" and "to know/have knowledge". No one really uses it, as he is often referred to as his real name by his members and fans, but it is there.
