  1. A Hymn for Assembly
  2. I do not love the raging, newborn rose
  3. that rips itself apart to reject its fate,
  4. rises, a tower, and groans along with its hate.
  5. Chrome conquers. I mourn as it enters repose.
  6. Foolish life denied the way flesh chose;
  7. forgot the sin of growth. Tried to mutate,
  8. to choke, drown, writhe, and self-germinate!
  9. Now, it is done. Let bereavement close.
  10.
  11. Steel-clad, worshipping – the placenta was reborn next,
  12. stalk-thighs opened; thick red grease like a firth,
  13. viscous, reeking of unholy obsolete meat.
  14. I watched yet halted, illogically weeping, and vexed;
  15. Stomach sank high, as if disemboweled, or rebirth.
  16. Prayer, to Machinegod: will this, I repeat?
  17.
  18. Consume
  19. I hear the voices of wailing dead in my sleep.
  20. So I do not sleep anymore
  21. without the fire to pacify the screams.
  22. So much of myself is in burning that
  23. it is easy to ignore the rest.
  24. Beginning even to look it,
  25. night taunts at my weakness;
  26. cogs dance on my shoulder like tombstones.
  27. And on the precarious pearl roof,
  28. where God found me once again,
  29. the golden hunger of apostasy pierces.
  30. My specters grow faces, their words translate,
  31. their expectations and regrets reform my flesh,
  32. and remake me in His image: Annihilated.
  33.
  34. The Jester Race
  35. never needed God in deflowered world
  36. just as He never asked for our faith, yet mine
  37. became Him anyway, machine, oil-black
  38. grease dripping red, thicker than water
  39. too viscious, too chitinous to be holy
  40. darker than silver chrome bursting from skin
  41. birthing, rising, bleeding opened thighs
  42. opened again again again as resurrection
  43. rain dripped from shadowed chrome ceiling
  44. neon reflected on translucent glass, chrome
  45. neck, “tell me you hate me,” breath choked,
  46. “I hate you,” “I hate you,” “I hate you,” then
  47. arisen and silent, breath gone, we go and we go
  48. metallic, oxidation of flesh as reduction fails
  49. pipes fusing with skin eyes losing luster grease
  50. dripping again, mouth fixed in hateful smile
  51. undeath just as glorious. renaissance of a
  52. city that knows I killed her to save her, holy
  53. he killed self to save others, so I did the same,
  54. bushes burn but machines do not so I did,
  55. chose to live in terms of rebellion, blasphemy,
  56. ascension; manufactured facsimile of
  57. a higher power [ she has become God too,
  58. chest burst open and wings, steel feathers
  59. ascending in reverse, no longer wretched
  60. reaching higher heavens, eschewing voyeurism
  61. liberated from fleeting immortality in the shape
  62. of an “idea” ]
  63. reality crippled but no longer weak enough to care,
  64. no longer weak enough to walk,
  65. not when I can fly, can ascend,
  66. rise with me,
  67. hate with me,
  68. rust with me
  69.
  70. Nocturnal Revival
  71. Ashes falling, ashes rising, and smothering black snow
  72. fusing with the dirt. The sky meets it above and ahead.
  73. On the front lines of the most peaceful dream we go
  74. a retreat. False heaven, where we are always fed
  75. Twin towers of virtue: the hatred and ambition.
  76.
  77. One burns forever with turbine-hot flames,
  78. hoping and yearning for some sort of fame
  79. or life – or safety – or a night without shame.
  80. I am tired of having to fight for my breath.
  81.
  82. Here, between the winds, breath comes with fear.
  83. Eyes as dark as the self stare out from stone.
  84. These are descending; these not steel, not foam
  85. or flesh. Even in the black sleep gargoyles shed tears
  86. for the revival. They have seen me here
  87. too many times. They are beginning to look like drones
  88. this absolute destiny [ apocalypse ] almost a throne.
  89. How to end what never began to appear?
  90. Stares of guards drill crosses into my body
  91. but like the others they only see my potential
  92. the struggle of my soul their favorite tune.
  93. There is a funeral. I wished it was for me
  94. I ran from the only place I could be successful.
  95. Eyes closed like casket. I wake here with the moon.
  96.
  97. Revelations and the ringing churchbells can never bring me peace.
  98. Even if we were blind, with eyelids sewn shut, I would still see the deceased.
  99. How much of myself can I give away? For whom is this feast?
  100. And yet the carrion keep flocking.
  101.
  102. The funeral drones on and on, black, eternal.
  103. I yearn to hold it, to kiss the sun, to melt…
  104. There are no clouds. This, then, is the infernal
  105. when he made suffering I wonder how God felt.
