  1. The Sylvan are a race of tree-like people with bark skin, colorful luminescent eyes, and hair made up of leaves and branches. The Sylvan are the embodiment of an elven spirit given another life. When elves die and decay into elven dust in a forest, it enchants the forest floor beneath it and infuses the nearest tree with his or her spirit. A century later at either dawn or dusk, a doorway opens from the tree and from this doorway leaves a Sylvan. The Sylvan carries the spirit of the elf who died, and is an echo of his former self however does not recall his previous life. The Sylvan usually find themselves acting as guardians of their forest in this new life, working alongside but separate from the elves that reside there. In rare circumstances an Awakened Sylvan is born, which is a Sylvan who for some unknown reason has not lost his or her former self and is now closer to nature than ever before. In addition to the Awakened is the Afflicted, who are sylvan who don't exactly remember their former selves and are still just an echo of their past life however they are born with a sense of doubt, free will, and personality.

  3. Normal Sylvan never leave their forest homeland, having no free will or personality however Afflicted and Awakened Sylvan do have the capability to choose to leave and sometimes do so. Sylvan are by nature good, and each Awakened or Afflicted Sylvan has a different personality dependent on what season it was born in: Spring is brash, and free spirited. Summer is brave, and stoic. Fall is calculating, and wise. Winter is cold, and stern. In addition, Sylvan are different in power based upon whether they were born at dawn or dusk.

  6. Your Wisdom increases by 2, and your Intelligence increases by 1.
  7. You gain Low-light Vision
  8. Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed and magic can’t put you to sleep.
  9. Trance. You don’t need to sleep. Instead, you meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
  10. Natural Armor. You have a natural armor bonus of +2. When unarmored, your AC is equal to 10 + your natural armor bonus + your dexterity modifier.
  11. Subrace. There are two variations of a Sylvan's power based upon when he or she was given birth: Dawnborn and Duskborn. Choose one from below.

  14. Innate Magic. You know the shillelagh cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the entangle spell once per day. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the barkskin spell once per day. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

  17. Innate Magic. You know the frostbite cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the ice knife spell once per day. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the moonbeam spell once per day. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
