  1. The entire world of the occult is very new to me. But in some precious work in a metaphysical class I discovered (I believe) that the Archangel Uriel is my primary spirit guide. I don't know if that's a grandiose thing to say or not. I guess that's why I'm looking for some feedback to see if what I experienced checks out as a real thing or if I just have a very active imagination. Below is a very lengthy description of the entire experience that I have recorded in my own personal journal. I would very much appreciate some feedback or suggestions as to how I could maybe do a better invocation next time.

  5. September 18, 2019
  6.
  7. It is Wednesday. Today is my birthday. I have known for some time that today is also the day that I would make my first attempt to commune with my spirit guide, Archangel Uriel. He is the Fire of God, the Archangel of the month of September and also this day of the week. This convergence is the opportunity that the Source has presented to me to begin my new journey.
  8.
  9. I gathered some rudimentary materials today for a very simple ritual. Five red candles. Five candle holders. One of each of the following crystals: hematite, celestite, sunstone, quartz, and tiger’s eye. I cleansed the candles with alcohol and inscribed two symbols from Uriel’s sigil into each one. I also cleansed the candle holders with alcohol, as well as the table, the table cloth, and each crystal stone.
  10.
  11. After cleansing the crystals, I spent a brief moment holding each one in my hand and consciously imbuing a bit of my life force into them. I moved my table such that I could face north when performing the invocation. I then arranged the candles in the form of a pentagram, with the north point in front of an empty chair reserved for Uriel and another candle directly across from that one in front of me. Two of the candle holders (one to the north, one in front of me) were taller than the other three.
  12.
  13. I then placed a crystal in between each candle holder, creating another pentagram from them. Quartz to my immediate left, hematite to my immediate right, then working clockwise--tiger’s eye, celestite, and sunstone. In the middle of the ritual space, I placed a manifestation book I had been working on over the last two days. This book contained cutout images that inspired the kind of connection I wanted to make, as well as manifesting statements such as, “I am making a meaningful connection with my spirit guide.” The final pages of the book were filled out shortly before the ritual with gratitude statements in order to raise my vibration level.
  14.
  15. After placing the book in the middle of the pentagram area, I cleansed the ritual space by burning sage and wafting the smoke around the area with a turkey feather. I also cleansed myself with the sage. I snuffed out the sage in a seashell. I then took a hot shower to further cleanse myself.
  16.
  17. Finally, I turned off all lights in the house save for a wax warmer, which was heating a rustic smelling wax cube. I pulled up meditative music on my computer and then turned the screen off. Completely naked, I started the ritual at precisely 9 p.m. by saying, “Let us begin.”
  18.
  19. I then lit all five of the candles and took my seat across from the empty chair on the other side of the table. I read the following invocation, which I mostly got from an angel channeling website.
  20.
  21. *“Uriel, fire of God, please enter into this present time and space. Connect with me energetically, lifting my vibration and surrounding me with light and love.*
  22.
  23. *Help support me in raising my vibration and expanding my consciousness beyond the lower levels of fear, doubt and ego. Help me to shine brightly with my highest authentic truth. Flow light into my present point in time so that it fills my heart chakra, my ascension column, and light body.*
  24.
  25. *Help me to bring light and love into every cell and particle of my being, so that I shine with divine presence and reflect the full light and truth of the divine spiritual being I am.*
  26.
  27. *Help me to embody the light of my higher self, the higher light of the divine, the higher light of presence, truth and love, so that I confidently and graciously stand in this truth. Allow this light to ripple out far beyond me, allowing me to become a light in the darkness and way-shower for others.*
  28.
  29. *Help me to retain this high vibration so that I can effortlessly let go of lower habits, thoughts, and beliefs that are weighing me down. Help me in each and every moment to return to my authentic truth, and to stand in my power as an awakened spiritual being.*
  30.
  31. *Thank you, Archangel Uriel, fire of God, for your specific guidance, love, and healing frequency. Illuminate my body, mind and spirit on every level. Flow light into every cell, help me to shine with my full divine light and potential, according to divine will, for the highest and greatest good, and so it is.”*
  32.
  33. This was the only part of the ritual that I felt dubious about. I wasn’t sure if it had a serious enough tone considering the meaningful connection I was going for with this entire endeavor.
  34.
  35. As I neared the end of reading the invocation, however, the candle directly across from me--the one in front of the chair reserved for Uriel, began to burn with blue fire, while all of the other candles continued to burn with yellow fire. As I finished the last words of the invocation, the blue fire went out, but not as if it were extinguished. A candle that is snuffed out typically leaves a slight trail of smoke afterward. When this blue flame went out, however, there was no smoke. I reflected on this after the ritual and got the keen sense that the flame was not snuffed out, but rather consumed by Uriel, the Fire of God, because he is the source of pure fire.
  36.
  37. A warm and tingling sensation flooded my skin after the flame was consumed. I closed my eyes and immediately felt a sensation of being pulled. I had to lean forward. I was still grounded (thank you quartz) but I was also on a journey. Uriel took me above the clouds, the night sky, and finally beyond the atmosphere. He gestured to the cosmos, the expansive Universe beyond the confines of our world.
  38.
  39. He said to me, “It is a mysterious place. I will teach you about it, as we agreed to long ago.”
  40.
  41. He then said, “Cortava,” and suddenly I was back in my chair. I was keenly aware that--even though the time was brief--we had finished our work for the day. His presence was gone.
  42.
  43. I immediately searched the word cortava. It is Portuguese, a language I have never spoken, read, or interacted with in any way. It is the first-person future present imperfect of the Portuguese verb cortar, which means to cut or to prune. The implication of this particular verb, in this specific tense, in this context, would be to say, “I will prune.” Or more to the point, “I will prune *you.*” I take this to mean that, in our work, Uriel means to cut away the dead branches of my symbolic spiritual tree that are holding me back from growing into my power.
  44.
  45. ---
  46.
  47. Any feedback would be very helpful. And maybe some validation, too, if I'm honest. Thank you to whoever puts in the time to read all this.
