  1. >Walking the streets, you hummed a small tune to yourself. A relic of the old world, and your favorite song.
  2. >As you did, you recalled the lyrics in your mind. 'Every day, I imagine a future where I can be with you.'
  3. >The future was almost here, you thought as you roamed the only part of town that you were allowed to walk without a specialized suit.
  4. >You were in the same world as your Moni, you just had to wait for the logistics of however many people showing up in this new land to work out and you could get to finding her! Things were looking up.
  5. >Well, as much as they could be for being separated from all you've ever known into a mysterious realm very similar to your own.
  6. >You wondered for a moment about the implications of this. Did your family know what happened? Were they brought over for their waifus? Were they even part of whatever game brought you here? Would you ever see them again?
  7. >Deciding that asking questions with no obvious answers at the moment would get you nowhere, you resumed your humming and strutted down the sidewalk.
  8. >You'd heard a restaurant nearby was giving out free food for the cross-dimensional vagabonds such as yourself, and you were keen on trying it out. May as well get accustomed to the food of this place and get a hot meal that wasn't prepared on a government emergency budget!
  9. >Arriving to the crowded place, you waited your turn in line before being presented with their offering by a worker wearing one of those suits; a small chili dog and some fries, as well as a tiny plastic bottle of water.
  10. >Taking your loot and walking, you noticed a flyer on the door on your way out, advertising the same event happening tomorrow, with burgers instead. Huh.
  11. >If the food was good, you might have to take them up on that. You ventured back onto the sidewalk, and found a nearby bench to eat your lunch on.
  12. >Getting situated, you brought the hot dog to your mouth and took a bite.
  13. >Holy smokes. After sustaining yourself on the equivalent of cafeteria food, this food was almost gourmet. You quickly wolfed down the dog, and turned to the potatoes.
  14. >Just as you brought a small bunch of fries to your mouth, you heard a snap, and saw a flash out of the corner of your eyes.
  15. >Wincing from the bright light on that side, you heard a voice mutter something. Recovering, you looked in the direction of the sound and noise, but no one was there.
  16. >That's... unsettling, you thought. You decided to take the rest of your meal on the go, and picked up the rest of your belongings before beginning to make your way back to camp.
  17. >The fries were the perfect combination of oily and salty, and you savored every bite as you walked.
  18. >Even the water was tastier than normal! You're for sure going to go back tomorrow.
  19.
  20. >The night passed as normal, and once more you were walking down the street toward the restaurant.
  21. >Turning a corner, you ran into something, knocking it over in the process.
  22. >You inspected it. A cardboard box, with a stick that was presumably propping it up. And tied to the stick was...
  23. >Was that her bow?
  24. >What the fuck? Where did this come from? You looked around.
  25. >Nothing but a small ruffling from a nearby alleyway, not enough to be a person, you thought.
  26. >You looked down. Even if it wasn't Monika's, it was close enough. You took it, and folding it up, put it in your pocket before pushing the obstruction into the alley.
  27. >Continuing on your way, you reached the restaurant once more and absentmindedly waited in line. Your patience was rewarded by the hazmat helper in the form of a junior cheeseburger, another water bottle, and a small order of fries.
  28. >Exiting the shop, you decided to sit on the bench once more. You shuddered thinking about the creep from yesterday, but this was a public place. No real safer place to be, other than maybe camp.
  29. >You dug into your five star meal, and just enjoyed the day. Looking across the street at nothing, you chewed on the beef and relaxed.
  30. >Seemed things would be fine. And then, a thought crossed your head. Did they call burger meat beef here? Just how different was this place?
  31. >You pondered over possible names, when your inner monologue was cut off by your attention being grabbed. A paper airplane soared in front of your view, landing a few feet away from the bench.
  32. >Looking back to the origin point, you saw no one other than a few people waiting to get into the restaurant.
  33. >Gulping down your bite, you looked to the plane. That paper's color seemed familiar.
  34. >Setting the burger down on its wrapper, you got up and walked over to the plane, before picking it up and returning to your seat.
  35. >It clearly had some writing on it. Curiosity piqued, you unfolded the plane and read it.
  36. >The flyer from the shop, with tomorrow's date written underneath today's in pen.
  37. >You looked back to the restaurant. Someone was messing with you for sure.
  38. >Finishing the meal, you deposit the trash in a nearby can and take the flyer with you as you return home. You'd come back, but you'd case the back alleys.
  39. >You were not about to be punked by some stranger, and if they were laying such obvious traps as the ones you saw today you figured you could take them.
  40.
  41. >Night went as normal once more, and you strode with courage once more down the sidewalk.
  42. >Getting closer to the restaurant, you ducked into an alley and navigated between buildings until you were behind the joint.
  43. >You peered down both alleys on either side, and found nothing of interest. With that shown to you, you crept up behind a dumpster and leaned to the side to keep an eye on the street.
  44. >And then, you waited. And waited. And waited.
  45. >Then, your world went dark as something was pulled over your head.
  46. "Hey!" You pushed back against whoever it was, and tried to pull the thing off but quickly found that your arms were stuck inside as well, and that it was cinched tightly around your knees.
  47. >"Stop fighting! Just come along!" The feminine voice whisper-shouted, before you felt a pressure on your back and arms as they hopped onto your back and wrapped themselves around you.
  48. "No, I've got other places to be!" You yelled, trying to struggle against the attacker.
  49. >However, they had you in a vicegrip. Your arms unable to move and your eyes unable to see, you quickly thought of options.
  50. >Wait, you were in an alley. Walls on each side. You began to thrash toward them, putting your assailant into them in an attempt to throw her off.
  51. >You turned to get her in position to back against the wall, but as you did, you tripped forward.
  52. >Slamming into the ground, your world went black once more.
  53.
  54. >"Oh no oh no oh no..." The blue-eyed girl hurriedly pulled the bag off the body of the Anon in front of her, nervous as to the damages.
  55. >She didn't mean to hurt him, but he'd gone limp and she was frightened at the prospect of hurting her friend's love.
  56. >She flipped him onto his back, and felt his chest. Slowly, it rose and fell.
  57. >With a heavy sigh of relief, Sayori thought about where to go from here. How was she going to lug an unconscious body halfway across town?
  58. >Wait, a taxi, that's it! She smiled at the thought of tricking someone to helping her transport it, and slipped the body back into the burlap sack.
  59. >Grabbing some various odds and ends from the alleyway to put over top of the body, she closed it up and dragged it to the mouth of the alley and pulled out her phone to call a taxi.
  60. >She completed the order, and sat beside the bag. She thanked whatever powers that be that no one heard the encounter, and patiently waited, smiling.
  61. >As the yellow car pulled up, the driver rolled the window down.
  62. >"Ay, uhh, you Sayori?" The man in a stained white tank-top asked in a thick accent.
  63. >"Yep! Hey, could you pop the trunk? I've gotta take this bag with me." She responded, pointing to her plunder.
  64. >"Sure, sure. Need any help with that? Looks heavy."
  65. >"N-no, I'm fine! Thank you!" She dragged the bag to the back of the car, and hefted it into the trunk before closing it and venturing to the back seat.
  66. >Closing her door and buckling up, she turned to the driver.
  67. >"Could you take me to the high school over on Salvato Drive?"
  68. >"Uh, sure. What for? Isn't it the weekend?" He asked, looking back at her in the mirror with a cocked eyebrow.
  69. >"Oh, that bag was a, uh, a school project! I'm going to drop it off, I've got a teacher there today to help me with it."
  70. >"I see. Alright, yeah, you got it." He ticked the meter, and began to drive.
  71. >As she rode, Sayori's heartbeat slowed to a normal one. She didn't realize she was nearly panicking throughout that whole ordeal! Content, she pulled her phone out once more, texting Monika the status of her Anon and inquiring about her own.
  72. >Receiving a reply that she was just about to get him, Sayori smiled widely to herself and sat back happily in her seat.
  73. >A job well done!
  74. >Well, for the most part.
