Session 4:

[Tuning Noises]
BSSSSHHHHTis is K-MSP 103.3, and you're hearing The Damn Truth, from Russell T. Sharp.

Today, Rosilica stands at a threshold, as we face finally direct attack from the Kaiju, the new threat of the modern age. But is this foul raid from the monstrous Godzilla just happenstance, or a deliberate act of aggression by a more sinister threat? MSP's Boots On The Ground, dedicated to getting the Real Story direct from our boys at Monarch and the other branches of the military, report that just before it escaped, Godzilla's capture site was assaulted by Terrorists - Literal Lizard People! The Zih'la Sect appeared out of the fog and unleashed a horde of captured dinosaurs onto the Island. I don't think I need to spell out what those cannibal psychos did to the brave men and women they surprised with this underhanded tactic?
But was this assault enough to release the Beast? Godzilla only has a brain the size of a walnut, and the lizardfolk aren't much better! So, was there some other power at play here, an actual threat to Rosilica? Folk, there have been horrifying rumors flying around lately, that the Tokugawan and Ruhussian forces who were originally meant to aid Rosilica in defeating Godzilla, may instead have stolen vital equipment our boys needed tBZZZT

ZZSSSSHHHHHTeline Getry of YT3 News, here with Daneel Nelzin of the Special Task Force, on the coast of Clenville Bay. Mr. Nelzin, You're the coordinator of the STF's efforts against Godzilla.
[Nelzin] I am, Yesss.
[Getry] We've been getting conflicting reports about who in the military is responsible for defending the country from kaiju. Certainly, the bigger channels want to say Monarch is responsible for all of it.
[Nelzin] Monarch iss primarily ressponssible for overall coordination, to unite all branchess of the military againsst the kaiju threat. Individual branchess are still ressponsible for their own R&D.
[Getry] I see! And will the STF be deploying super-agents against Godzilla today.
[Nelzin] ...I'm not at liberty to ssay.
[Getry] Really? Then-
[Nelzin] I can ssay that we are operating heavy equipment in the field, that hass been fully tessted, and that may be handed over to Monarch in the future oncse the emergenccy is over. If you are planning on reporting live, you may need goggless, in order t-
[???] Shut that microphone down now?
[Getry] Who the-?
[Nelzin] What iss the meaning of thiss?!
[???] We have exclusivity! Total exclusivity! No other stations are allowed here!
[Nelzin] Thiss iss beyond irregular! I demand to ssee your paperwork!
[???] Get that microphone off first!
[Getry] Wuff!
[Sound of something falling, then static]

MSP

You take advantage of the emerging Godzilla crisis to get MSP film and radio crews in place with all branches of the military. You have people with the tank battalions, the naval blockade, on board Monarchs' 'Super-V' flying fortress with it's new 'Artificial Orichalchite Emitter', which a staffer overhears was apparently thrown together to replace 'Something the Tokugawans took', and with the Special Taskforce on the coast who are deploying a special Atomic Heat Ray made by Kaplan Corporation (whose own PR department have to back down when you show your credentials).
Though few in the military wish it were so, you have full control of who has spotlight, and what secrets are revealed and buried.

Xian

Your saucers return to orbit, and diagnostic self-calculation begins on the Gematron Network. The incident is reconstructed, and it seems a single aircraft, without identifying marks, flew into Saucer-03's airspace. It caught the ship as it was altering course, and managed to fly through the wind-wall defenses seemingly miraculously. Its course brought it up to the ships bridge windows, and then the occupants deployed some kind of mystic observation device, an All-Seeing Eye. For a split-second, the device became a Perfect Observer, collapsing the waveform of the Gematron and extracting some data (though you aren't sure what exactly was taken).
It seems implausible for the humans to have any technology of this level: They claim to have 'Intellects' who can create unique Magi-Tech, but our of your Calculators has a different theory: That this 'Perfect Lens' might actually be the Divine Spark you were seeking, crystallised into an device form. If the Spark were sent by some deity to observe the planet, she surmises, then taking that kind of form would make sense.
Orbital observation reveals that Rosilica's military is now in full deployment, as the Divine Beast Godzilla is free and rampaging in the area.

Crucible

You take the two belligerent manipulators in the Carnae case, and expertly set them to crash into each other. They are so busy squabbling over the rights to Carnae's stuff, they don't realise they're giving your agents all the access you need.

Examination of what materials have been made available to the court makes a few things clear:
The primary samples taken from Godzilla are stored at Monarch Base, in a shielded container due to contamination risk.
Carnae's supplies of Kaiju DNA were basically gone, hence his scheme to control King Kong with 'artifacts' - Godzilla showed up and ruined this plan.
Before he'd gotten these artifacts (which Monarch didn't find), his other main plan was a reported Kaiju egg, supposedly on Matango Island to the east.

There is a minor report from the agents watching on Hermann Gottlieb: Apparently some of the ships crew chased a Rosilican agent into Gottlieb's computator room, claiming that the man was an alien, sent by the 'flying saucers' to attack the human reality, and some of Gottlieb's research was lost in the ensuing struggle. They estimate his research should recover fully.

Kaplan

The techs get to work, and do their best to get the Novator model up and running. Blacksteel start looking for test subjects to fire on, but they don't exactly find the best subjects: Several particularly large bison, an old zoo rhino, and a Megaghila Den Mother captured by the Steel Saviours. The techs count this as a win in the developing rivalry between both branches.

The STF arrange a rapid test-firing, which goes smoothly, and all targets are atomized. But there's an added wrinkle, in that apparently the whole test firing 'has to be' recorded, by some military contractor. But there's little time to investigate, as the 'fully functional' Novator is loaded onto a transport rig and moved to the coast, to await Godzilla.

Sang

With help from the hired agents, at first it seems everything is going to plan: Carnae is losing badly and his assets are becoming available to be seized. But then, disaster! Another group are trying to buy out all of Carnae's assets, and rob you of your prize. They appear to be a collection of merchants, who sell alcohol to peasants and cut deals with criminals. The legal battle is stalemated, and Carnae isn't even a factor anymore. It's LS&B versus the puppets of this Tavern-keeping cartel.

Taverns

The operation is ready to go tomorrow morning, though the team would like clarity on what to do if Godzilla attacks the island in the meantime.
In the meantime, investigations continue into the Max Security facility at the prison. It is not easy to find an edge: Most of the guards stay on-site almost all the time. But eventually, you're tipped off to one of them who drinks at a hole-in-the-wall run by on of your less-legal partners. They report the man continually complains about 'The Monkeys', but is super-cagey about the details of his work. However, earlier today, when the saucers appeared, he rushed outside to look, and was heard to say 'More fucking aliens? Are they here for their pals?!??!', before rushing back to the dock to get on the boat back to the island.
Meanwhile, in the courts, it initially seems that fortune is on your side, as the Prosecution comes back in swinging and Carnae's defense begins to collapse. However, it seems that it's all a ruse: The legal agents which were propping Carnae upare the same ones now undermining him: It seems they're also trying to steal his assets out fro under him! The new lawyers are called Lock Stock and Barl, but they appear to be working for some extremely wealthy nobles, and not even Rosilican ones. If you don't act, everything Carnae offered you will be snatched away by someone else.
