[22:29] <Roget> tell me about it in great detail
[22:30] <Soulless> ok so
[22:30] <Soulless> It started normal enough, I was in a big city, I was kinda roung maybe 12 or 14
[22:31] <Soulless> the Kind Man was a peer of mne, around my age, a little wiser than me but he always tends to be a little wiser you know?
[22:31] <Soulless> We first went to hang out at this mansion party  of a rich guy friend of ours, to celebrate the rich guy's birthday, and it was a great party
[22:31] <Soulless> We trashed some vases and shit, who cares, you know?
[22:32] <Soulless> We were a bunch of stupid teens
[22:32] <Roget> yolo
[22:32] <Soulless> Yeah
[22:32] <Soulless> Then later on in school, this year was suddenly our year to go through our "sorting"
[22:32] <Soulless> Kind of an initiation ritual into adulthood
[22:32] <Soulless> It has been described as extremely unpleasant/painful
[22:32] <Roget> sonds ominous
[22:33] <Soulless> We the students, maybe 10-15 of us shoved into a van
[22:33] <Soulless> I asked the Kind Man what was going on, and he looked to me in a look that was, like, genuine worry
[22:33] <Soulless> Which is rare for him you know?
[22:34] <Roget> Right, he's usually on the ball for these sorts of things
[22:34] <Soulless> I squeezed his hand and he squeezed mine, and he told me "this is going to hurt you"
[22:34] <Soulless> "be strong"
[22:34] <Roget> Oh no :<
[22:34] <Soulless> Then when we arrived, we were taken to a big temple/cave of sorts, in the room was a bunch of other kids
[22:34] <Soulless> There was some kind of occult looking priest of sots
[22:35] <Soulless> They made a big speech that we will be tested and our souls willbe gazed into
[22:35] <Soulless> And then the adults all left, leaving me and a bunch of kids and the priest
[22:35] <Soulless> The priest opened up a panel in the floor that was like bright lava underneath, and pulled out something starkly red, It was like some kind of rapidly shifting metal with impossible geometry and angles
[22:36] <Soulless> Everyone's attnention was literally yanked to it, mine too, it was hard to explain
[22:36] <Soulless> It seared in your mind white-hot and temporarily left your sanities
[22:36] <Roget> :o
[22:36] <Soulless> But at the same time it was beautiful, trance-like
[22:36] <Soulless> Impossible beautiful horrific
[22:37] <Soulless> And then the priest gently put it back into the lava-like chamber and many of us took much time to come back to our senses
[22:37] <Soulless> Some of the kids were hugging themselves and crying, others babbled incoherently, others just stared blankly
[22:38] <Soulless> The priest then asked us what we saw
[22:38] <Soulless> When I described what I saw (it had something to do with numbers I think, specifically a complicated algorithm of chance that fell onto the number 40)
[22:39] <Soulless> The priest took my shoulder and begun to drag me into the cave deeper, butI was still mentally fucked up and couldn't walk right
[22:39] <Roget> oh dear
[22:40] <Soulless> He took me to a bizzarely white room, and left me on the floor in front of what looked to be a man, with silver white for pupils and teeth too big/sharp for his mouth, dressed impeccably, with blonde hair slicked back
[22:40] <Soulless> his suit was a light blue color and he had a black bowtie
[22:40] <Roget> eek
[22:40] <Soulless> He smiled down to me and told me that that was a 'test' for me in particular, the dreamer, and that he found me something quite lovely
[22:41] <Soulless> But not lovely like attractive in a romantic sense, coming from hi it was more like a... predatory, ownership 'lovely', you know?
[22:41] <Soulless> Like something you'd like to own
[22:41] <Roget> eurgh
[22:41] <Roget> yeah I know what you mean
[22:42] <Soulless> He told me something like "you know what I am don't you", and I did, the same way I recognize the kind man, I recognized him as not from my dream
[22:42] <Soulless> but he was... something significantly stronger, well stronger is not the correct word bt it is the closest word to it
[22:43] <Soulless> He told me he found himself enamored with me, and asked me to accept him, his voice was the sensation of snake skin
[22:43] <Soulless> He said that he could make it so I would never wake up, and I knew he could, he had that... power, I suppose you could call it, demi-godlike in his power
[22:44] <Soulless> I asked him what would happen to my kind man and he said, in a sense, he would kill the kind man and take his place
[22:45] <Soulless> I said that was unacceptable  and got up to leave, he growled a bit and told me that the kind man couldn't do what he could do for me (keep me asleep forever, remember what I've forgotten)
[22:45] <Soulless> (become nonhuman wholly)
[22:45] <Soulless> I told him "perhaps not but he is still mine"
[22:46] <Soulless> Then I left him and returned to the temple, where things had started to begin to shake apart, I took the Kind Man's hand who continued looking to me in his silent worry and we ran back to the van and left the other teenagers for dead
[22:46] <Soulless> I got in the van and we both drove the beaten-up thing down to the city, then took a subway back home
[22:47] <Roget> it kept going after you left?
[22:47] <Soulless> Yes
[22:47] <Soulless> Over the next few days in my dream, things got... worse
[22:48] <Soulless> the eldritch stranger would show up, on the news they would report him destroying whole cities and states, on the internet it was panic
[22:48] <Soulless> It was in hopes to destabilize my dream and encourage me to meet with him again
[22:48] <Soulless> Or perhaps he was llooking for me, I honestly don't know
[22:48] <Roget> did you know you were dreaming?
[22:48] <Soulless> Kind of, yes
[22:48] <Soulless> I knew at least that the lives lost were ultimately inconsequential
[22:49] <Soulless> Later on as I was driving downtown in my dream, he showed up and his voice was on my radio, he hissed that he was in the car beside me and if he wanted he could ram me into a car crash and force me to wake up
[22:49] <Soulless> I knew I didn't want that, and agreed to follow him to something he wanted to show me
[22:50] <Soulless> He took me back to the mansion the Kind Man and I had a party at, except the mansion had fallen to disrepair, and he led me inside and presended to me the corpse of the Kind Man
[22:50] <Soulless> I knew that the Kind Man wasn't truly dead, though
[22:51] <Soulless> There was a difference in dreams between dying in a dream and being truly pemanently gone, the latter was a complex manner of ultimate destruction and unraveling, the former is just killing off a representation of sorts
[22:52] <Roget> I understand
[22:52] <Soulless> I became furious, and I became innately understand that this was my dream and regardless I couldn't truly kill the eldritch person but I can slaughter his representation
[22:52] <Soulless> And so my hands morphed to huge claws and I gouged out a massive hole in this chest, from sternum to hips
[22:53] <Soulless> I hissed in a language wholly inhuman, it was dream-language of sorts, and I said to him something vaguely like "I reject you entirely from my lands"
[22:53] <Roget> That escalated quickly
[22:54] <Soulless> And he chuckled back in the same language, something like "you can't (permanently) kill me, and you aren't strong enough to prevent me from visiting again, I will return and I will (permanently) kill yours (Kind Man)"
[22:55] <Soulless> Then his body melted, and left behind the power he used to force himself in my dream, which was in of itself a fragment taken from someone else's dream (dreamcreatures become stronger the more they live, because they partially feed on the dreams they exist in, and grow by hoarding the "energy" they collect from dreams)
[22:55] <Soulless> I took that and swallowed it, then woke up
