  1. And so Dawn and its allies went to meet the fledgling militia in the plains. The farmers rode horses not geared for war. Many held weapons no knight would think of wielding. They were simple people from a simple place come for vengeance.
  2.
  3. Demons, vampires, and necromancers stood beside the Lich and his men, all ready to tear these people apart. One stepped forward, a man dressed in ruddy armor with nothing but a woodsman's axe on his shoulder.
  4.
  5. "We've lost everythin'. And you--" the axe head is pointed directly at Arthur Rowan. "You're the one who's takin' it. Ya killed my son, ya know. Ya took his body and I couldn't even bury 'im..." Some tears rolled down the man's face as he angrily looked across the field at the rest of Dawn.
  6.
  7. "AND YOU ALL LET 'IM!"
  8.
  9. He looked back to his allies and nodded. "Have no fear, friends! We'll see our families again! GIVE 'EM HELL!"
  10.
  11. (Ulyssa) The young girl was actually grateful now for the mask. These people weren't an enemy army they were just. . . People. She'd look down at her hands for a second. Could she honestly partake in this?
  12.
  13. As she thought she looked around at those nearby, they where all ready to slay these people. No one was trying to explain that this was the right thing, that they're families were being brought back to live forever. Wasn't that the point of Azreal's teachings?
  14.
  15. These thoughts assailed the young mage as they waited for the battle begin. Was it to late to simply leave? She looked to those closest. They were eager and ready to begin, so ready. She knew you couldn't walk out onto a battlefield and not fight.
  16.
  17. Yet, that is what she would do. She was but a youth but she wouldn't take part in the slaughter of these people. As she turned she'd be only stopped by the sight of her friends. They could be hurt. Yet, even that didn't stop the first few hesitant steps back towards the town. Though after those steps she'd force herself to turn around.
  18.
  19. She couldn't bring herself to leave her friends in danger nor could she bring herself to kill these people. Yet, she was possessed water and holy magices. With a gentle application of these branches of the arcane she could seek to shield her fellows, she could seek to knock out rather than kill.
  20. (Ulyssa)
  21. As the battle went on the realization that these peasants weren't just poor farmers started to kick in. Something was off, they shouldn't have no were near the power to cause this much damage to this many magi.
  22.
  23. Yet they did, the forces of power they unleashed was even so mighty as to toss the older magi around her to the sides like dolls. Could these peasants be highly powerful mages built up to attack dawn? Were they Dawn's enemies in disguise?
  24.
  25. She couldn't tell but what she could tell is that they were dangerous. She'd do as she'd hoped, knocking many of the weaker peasants into unconsciousness and utilizing her magics to simply wash them away from the fight. Her body rushing in at times incased in divine light to absorb blows that'd scatter some of the squisher magi nearby. It was all for a better outcome, though who knows how that'd work out in the end.
  26. (Ulyssa)
  27.
  28. The two super magi as well as their crippled and dying comrades put up a last ditch effort, but they were no match for Dawn. Marching here from across the mountains and through the caves, it was likely every one of them knew that. They all expected to die here, and they found themselves correct.
  29.
  30. Finding her end at the hands of Leoda, Mary looked to the sky and smiled bitterly. Though her words wouldn't be heard, she spoke a silent greeting to a face she hadn't seen in years, and the life left her eyes.
  31.
  32. Dawn was victorious. But at what cost?
  33.
  34. As the battle drew to a close the battle had been a fierce struggle. She'd no clue who the magi were but they weren't anything she'd ever seen before. It was as if they were overflowing with raw cackling mana.
  35.
  36. Could that be what Kraus had intuitionally intended? she'd never really no and now she couldn't ask them. She knew enough about necromancy to know that even if they'd been brought back they couldn't share what they knew. They'd be new people in a sense.
  37.
  38. It dawned on her at that point, were they all new people? If so what was the point? With a weary look hidden behind the mask the youth went about the field. She wasn't a doctor but with magic she could at-least ease the suffering of the dying and maybe even save a few people.
