Matt Brody, a disgraced Olympic swimmer tries to find redemption by filling out one of three spots that have opened up on the Baywatch lifeguard team. He must fight his demons, get Mitch and the rest of the team to see there is more to him, get Summer the girl he likes to reciprocate and keep the beach safe and clean.
In sun-kissed Emerald Bay, the vigorous Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon and Baywatch, his elite team of hand-picked and perfectly tanned lifeguards, protect the bay, keeping both sunbathers and beach lovers safe. However, this summer, two new eager trainees will join the demanding life-saving program, as well as an insubordinate former Olympic swimmer, who are all called to prove their worth on the lifeguard towers just on time when a new synthetic street drug begins to infest the Emerald Bay: the flakka. Without a doubt, this calls for some serious undercover teamwork action, as the badgeless heroes in spandex comb the beach for shady newcomers and nefarious entrepreneurs with hidden agendas of their own. Can Mitch's band save the bay?
Likes : Seriously the review on this film are ridiculous negative from almost everyone, which begs the question what the hell we&#39;re you lot expecting, come on we all knew from the trailers what this film was gonna be like. I seriously can&#39;t believe anyone would expect this film to actually be perfect, to be honest this film is very self aware of itself that it doesn&#39;t take itself serious; which is why this film was funny.<br/><br/>Ya some joke kind of missed it make but i&#39;l be honest this film is pretty funny, even the audience in the cinema was laughing at some antics special at the beginning with Jon Bass playing Ronnie Greenbaum, even though it was a little over the top it was genuinely funny because you we&#39;re expect him to do what he did which made the scene funny.<br/><br/>The film as a whole felt well balance from the action scene to the comedy while respecting the source material from the 90&#39;s TV series Baywatch, with a clear message that life guards are more than just being a star as it take a lot of be a beach life guard special our the sea as the sea can kill you in so many ways.<br/><br/>Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron we&#39;re brilliant in this film show the macho banter which was funny at times, Dwayne playing ex marine LT Mitch Buchanan a hard ass life guard that respect his job, while training new recruits he come across a cocky ass gold medallist Matt Brody played by Zac Efron.<br/><br/>The acting between these two is great special the typical Dwayne banter in movie&#39;s adds to their on screen chemistry with this male testosterone, although adds eye candy for the lady, yes you know what i mean. (laugh out load). Lads you not left out as the film does have some beautiful woman as well special Alexandra Daddario incredible beautiful, who spend most of the film act like she shocked or playing a bimbo.<br/><br/>Got to hand it to Kelly Rohrbach as a full time model she done pretty well on screen with her character so fair play to her, Priyanka Chopra very beautiful playing the villainies of the film with a pretty serious role and pretty ruthless as well.<br/><br/>The film as a whole is Pretty much what you would see in a Baywatch series, mixed with some good comedic moment, action and eye candy for both woman and men it not a film to take seriously it know it special from the tile screen so going into this film you should know from the title screen what your getting your self into.<br/><br/>Its fun guilty pleasure film that is actually funny in place, worth checking out.<br/><br/>Dislikes : As much as this is a guilty pleasure for me i did noticed that this might not be everyone cup of tea for a film, maybe this film would of actually been better as a series on TV, like a reboot series of Baywatch starring the rock and the others.<br/><br/>I think the racist jokes we a little to much in area.
&#39;Baywatch&#39; was a long running series that was largely successful because it didn&#39;t take itself too seriously. 2017&#39;s film adaptation pays homage to its source material, but instead could not possibly take itself any less seriously.<br/><br/>Unsurprisingly, the cast of characters who make up the Emerald Bay crew include Dwayne Johnson (what movie isn&#39;t he in?) and Zac Efron, plus standard eye candy in Kelly Rohrbach and Alexandra Daddario. Since this is a silly, juvenile comedy, we are graced with the likes of Jon Bass&#39;s Ronnie Greenbaum, who does anything he possibly can do to embarrass himself in front of his crush, CJ (Rohrbach).<br/><br/>At its core, &#39;Baywatch&#39; is a loose drug bust wrapped in a slapstick comedy (sound familiar, &#39;21 Jump Street&#39;?), as the lifeguards try to get to the bottom of why mysterious drugs keep washing up on their beach, which then leads to other, more sinister things. Efron plays a disgraced Olympic swimmer who is sentenced to serve as a lifeguard, and let&#39;s just say people do not take too kindly to him at first. Businesswoman Victoria Leeds (Priyanka Chopra) also charms the lifeguard crew with a fancy club, but not all is what it appears to be.<br/><br/>But who cares about the plot?! &#39;Baywatch&#39; is probably a low point for all of the actors whose names are attached to it, most specifically for Johnson (who will act in just about anything). There are pretty much no redeeming qualities here, and while there are some funny scenes here and there, most everything is rehashed, sloppy and just plain stupid.<br/><br/>Instead of giving &#39;Baywatch&#39; a watch, just spend the day in the bay.
Tonally, Baywatch veers all over the place like a drunk on a speedboat, making for one of the most lacklustre comedies of the year so far.
