- This is my judging rubric for the Newgrounds Underdog Audio Competition 2026. All categories are weighted equally (2 points maximum each), and the score for each category (and overall score) will have decimals. I will do my best to judge fairly and equally between tracks regardless of genre and my own biases.

- Composition:
- How well is your song written? Melody, chords, rhythm, etc. are all important.
- Progression:
- How is your song structured? Is there a balance of familiarity and variety between parts, and how well do those parts lead into each other? This category is similar to composition, but more broad.
- Production:
- How is your song mixed and mastered? Is any element too loud or too soft? Do different elements of your song go well together, or do they clash?
- Creativity:
- How creative is your song? Is it inventive, or is it generic? Does it do anything unexpected, and does this uplift the other categories? Stock loop and/or AI usage will hurt this category severely.
- Impact:
- How does your song create an impact? Is there atmosphere or a story created through your musical choices? This category is similar to creativity, but more broad.
