- Greetings, Archons.
- Please accept this letter as a formal application for Ambassador.
- I am more than suitable for this position due to the high level of
- experience and passion I hold to novices and newcomers. Without them,
- organisations and cities become stagnant and growth is stunted. Newbies
- come into a large world often confused, and it is our job to guide them
- to the right path, the true path.
- I have been involved with the instruction and guidance of novices and
- newcomers for a large portion of my life. I was Head of Newcomers in the
- Sentinels House, and a Leath-ri of Eleusis. A large part of the job was
- to accept newcomers into the Village and provide them with what they
- need to secure a stable future. I also dealt with applicants to the
- Village coming from other cities.
- I am knowledgable with the administration side of the role, and needs
- little instructing on how things work and run. Thus, I require little of
- your time if appointed to get things going.
- I am no stranger to the role entailed within the Ministry. I have always
- had responsibilities, and thrive with them. I am eager to provide the
- next generation of Ashtani and make them as strong as they can be.
- Should you appoint me to the role, you will not be disappointed.
- With great anticipation,
- Entaro

- Greetings OVerseer and Archonate,
- I would like to throw my name in the ha for the open position of
- Ambassador.
- Currently I am the Head of Newcomers for the Ashuran and already deal
- with novices on a daily and ongoing basis. I have lived in Ashtan all my
- life and are very familiar with the Ambassadors position and duties. I
- believe I can carry out the responsibilities of this position with
- dedication and grace.
- I am not one for prolonged... Well anything really. You all know me, and
- I stand by my abilities.
- In service,
- Renshi Ignika Le'Dominae

- Dear Archons,
- I write this letter in application to the position of Ambassador of
- Ashtan. I have served as an aide to this position for many years under
- many Ambassadors, starting with Gregg Saer'rac up to Mathonwy Corso.
- I've not been an aide for every ambassador in between, but for many of
- them I have. My other credentials speak for themselves. I have been
- Archon to our fair city. I am currently serving as Head of Novices to
- the Occultists House. I am a religious and civic leader that takes that
- principles of our city very seriously.
- I have, in fact, been responsible for bringing many citizens into Ashtan
- in my lifetime. I often reach out to the brighter members of other
- cities--those who seems lost in the quagmires of Mhaldor and Shallam,
- for example, and offer them an alternative. Freedom. I've been told I
- can be rather persuasive.
- The youth of Ashtan also hold a special place in my heart. I can often
- be found speaking with them in Fire and Spice or at our main gates about
- the opportunities the city of freedom has to offer. I have also worked
- well in the past will all of the current Archons and most of the current
- Ministers.
- If I am chosen for this position, I can assure you that I'll always be
- available to young and old alike, always willing to answer questions for
- curious outsiders about our city, and a hard worker. In my free time, I
- am but a humble scholar. I've always considered myself a teacher and I
- think that serves well in this position. For example, I'm currently
- working on a tome that covers the myriad healing properties of rats and
- rat corpses. A tome our rat hunting youth would be better off for
- reading.
- In the end, I hope that my amiable personality and work ethic speaks for
- itself. I look forward to hearing from you.

- Dear Council of Ashtan,
- Please find below my application for the position of Ashtani Ambassador.
- In an ever growing City, we are always going through significant changes
- and it is important that Elder Council Members are able to devote their
- energies to ensuring that gains result from these changes. I believe
- that Ministers should assist in this process by freeing the Council to
- devote time to the serious issues while the Ministers take care of the
- more peripheral issues.
- To do this successfully each Minister must be able to develop a
- relationship with the Council and the City, built on understanding,
- trust and the ability to keep confidences. It is the quality of this
- relationship which often is as much the measure of the efficiency of a
- Minister as the technical skills.
- My position as Gatherer of Flowers while in the Sentaari has
- strengthened my leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and
- decision-making abilities and has enabled me to acquire expertise in all
- facets of successful Newcomer relations. My work as an Aide while in the
- Warlock House has furthered these abilities. I believe that these
- factors, along with an ever growing knowledge base, my experience with
- Newcomers and my personal skills such as initiative, creativity,
- adaptability and a willingness to learn will enable me to excel in the
- role of Ambassador.
- I believe I would enjoy the challenge and the opportunity to learn
- provided by this position. I also recognise the invaluable experience
- that would be gained working with the greatest City on Sapience.

- To: Overseer Tanris Rozzan, Ascendant of Zarathustra
- From: Doom Oiseaux, Maefeng P. Neige-Legacy, Arresting Enchantress
- Subject: * Application for Ambassador of Ashtan *
- Dear Overseer,
- I, Maefeng P. Neige-Legacy, hereby declare that I should be the new
- Ambassador of Ashtan--with proof to back up my proclamation:
- Directly relating to Ashtan, I am a Centurion; am an aide to the Culture
- Ministry; am an active recruiter and an unofficial mentor in Ashtan; am
- prevalently listed on Project 100; am the sole operator of Ashtan
- Projects 569 and 363; am proud to say that I aid my fellow citizens
- every month; am an insufferably persistent nuisance to our enemies with
- a dark bow and any number of meteor arrows; and am consistently (though
- infrequently) the first Ashtani to warn young or inexperienced
- adventurers who have violated our simple but miraculously effective
- laws.
- I am also an Elite Enchantress (executive) and a Charming Artistic
- Virtuoso in the Sireni racial clan, the Keepers of the Song. I've
- mentored Sirens, young and old, in many aspects of life, including the
- luxuries that Freedom provides us. I've served as an unofficial
- ambassador for the Keepers on a few informal occasions, as well. Outside
- of organizations, I am a businesswoman and other things. How is this
- relevant, you ask? Aside from my using my influence in the Keepers to
- help spread the philosophies of Freedom, I've taught myself how to deal
- with entities and individuals of unpredictable natures.
- It is commonly known throughout Ashtan that I am not a credible
- combatant; however, I prefer using my voice and powers of reasoning to
- solve and prevent conflicts. Of course, I've defended Ashtan to the best
- of my lowly abilities on multiple occasions, and have died in battle
- many more times than I've slain adventurers. Suffice it to say, there
- are more than enough reasons that this application for such a critical
- position of immense responsibility is not an application for Minister of
- War. I defend Ashtan's honour in ways often left unnoticed, but I am not
- one for adulation and praise. I work for the welfare of Ashtan and my
- children, the latter of whom uphold their documented oaths of loyalty to
- Ashtan per my decree.
- Though I have not always been impeccably respectful of my citymates, I
- have matured greatly over the decades since my years as a rambunctious
- young Siren trying desperately to find her place in the world, make
- friends, et cetera. I have found my place in the world, and it is
- Ashtan: then and henceforth. I've always been friendly, compassionate,
- empathetic, and stalwart. Some may call me "hard-headed," a "jabber
- jaw," "abrasive," or any other names, but no sane individual worth more
- than a rat would dare call me dishonourable, dishonest, or
- antisocial--let alone disloyal to Ashtan. Ever since I was reborn in the
- Flame, my pride in and loyalty to Ashtan have only grown and become
- increasingly steeled in the many faces of adversity, both domestic and
- foreign. I have proven to myself time and again that I am capable of
- anything to which I devote adequate energy and resources.
- Pardon any redundancy I may be fueling, but I genuinely love (yes,
- "love") helping young and inexperienced adventurers; and I have a soft
- spot for Ashtani newbies, as they are the lifeblood of Ashtan, bring out
- the mother in me, and remind me of the trials and tribulations through
- which I endured as one of them. I'm naturally a social person, but I
- take my responsibilities very seriously. That said, I always make time
- for Ashtan newbies, no matter what it is that I'm doing. If there're
- newbies in need, I will help them indeed.
- I have faced more than a fair share of hardships throughout my
- existence, but
- I keep on being positive, youthful, fair-minded, and myself. As a formal
- Infernal rogue of Ashtan, I faced daily trials, but none were so
- disorienting as Lady Keresis' hissy fit. I am eternally grateful to the
- generosity of the men and women of Ashtan who donated gold and credits
- in reimbursement of what us former necromancers chose to give up instead
- of our citizenship. Not a day goes by in which I don't count my fortunes
- and subconsciously thank Lady Keresis for being so eccentric, for I've
- never been happier, more helpful, or so prosperous as I am as a
- Runewarden.
- As a businesswoman, the head of Ashtan Projects 569 and 363, a frequent
- contact of Gareyth's in regards to Project 100, a top recruiter in the
- KotS, and the coordinator of the recent and fabulously successful
- Keepers' Ball, I've dealt with dozens of lists, editions, revisions, et
- cetera. I also check to make sure strangers, my would-be business
- clients, and my current clients are not enemies of Ashtan before I talk
- to or conduct business with them. Consequently, tracking citizenship
- requests and approvals, and tracking warnings given to the young and
- inexperienced for breaching Ashtan's laws will not be an issue in the
- slightest.
- As for being able to handle the daily stresses that the Ambassador must
- endure, I foresee no issues whatsoever with my fortitude. I'm present
- among the living every single month, often for multiple days either at a
- time or at random. I'm very proficient at processing messages, letters,
- tells and histories; and I use my journal every day, so maintaining a
- log will be easier than cutting cake with my rapier (or broadsword).
- Furthermore, I'm a social butterfly by nature, so talking and working
- all day will be like a leisurely swim in a calm river for me. Patience
- is also not a problem, for I am, after all, already a mentor and a
- mother.
- My plans for the Ambassador Ministry include an established newbie fund
- strictly to be used for newbies, and newbies only. ALL withdrawals from
- it will have to be authorized by me first. Uses of this fund will
- include purchasing basic curatives, low- to mid-quality armour or
- weapons for newbies (no field plate for occultists, and stuff like that,
- of course!), and inks for boar, moss, tree, shield and moon tattoos. Of
- course, the transactions will be closely monitored, and any anomalies
- will be acted on swiftly by me. I'll have two aids check up on it
- periodically and present to me a cost-analysis; this will give them
- practice budgeting, and chances to give me their 'two cents' with
- documented proof. I'm very open-minded, but know what needs to be done,
- too.
- Another plan of mine for the Ambassador Ministry is to revamp the Ashtan
- Legacy Society that Orklanishkal left to gather nearly two centuries'
- worth of dust, and has told me explicitly that he'll not touch it
- anytime soon, and that he'd love to see me try to become the head of it.
- The ALS is a great idea, but Orklanishkal should not hold it hostage any
- longer. He expressed clearly no interest in bringing it back anytime
- soon, either. I'll turn it into a Project, something with actual
- substance. Of course, this will be a side project of sorts. My top
- priority will be my Ambassadorial responsibilities, naturally.
- Yet another plan of mine is to form a sort of "Ashtan Tour Guides"
- project in which volunteers will take time out of their busy days to
- show our newbies and new citizens around Ashtan, and help them become
- more socialized with our fellow citizens. I've witnessed people quit
- Ashtan because they didn't feel welcomed by anyone but myself and a
- select, shifting few...and it nearly broke my heart each time. My heart
- is well adapted now, but I still don't like losing citymates. I already
- do all that's in my power to make people feel and know that they are
- welcomed and valued as citizens of this incomparable Bastion of the
- North, but as the Ambassador, I will have far more needed influence.
- Now, in regards to the Ambassadorial aides, I'll not tolerate
- stagnation, or attempts to do my job for me. My aides will have to be at
- least half as proactive as I will be, or else, after adequate warning, I
- will dismiss them from my Ministry accordingly. My aides will have to
- actively participate in planning projects. I've worked in teams before,
- and have been "team captain," but this is not a makeshift egghunt in any
- regard. I will bring and maintain professionalism as Ambassador, and
- will prove that I can do a better job than my brother, Thi, likely did
- (I was not around then, surely, but I am ambitious).
- Thank you for reading and considering this application, Overseer Tanris
- Rozzan. I look forward to the results.
- Sincerely,
- Maefeng P. Neige-Legacy
