  2.
  3. Greetings, Archons.
  4.
  5. Please accept this letter as a formal application for Ambassador.
  6.
  7. I am more than suitable for this position due to the high level of
  8. experience and passion I hold to novices and newcomers. Without them,
  9. organisations and cities become stagnant and growth is stunted. Newbies
  10. come into a large world often confused, and it is our job to guide them
  11. to the right path, the true path.
  12.
  13. I have been involved with the instruction and guidance of novices and
  14. newcomers for a large portion of my life. I was Head of Newcomers in the
  15. Sentinels House, and a Leath-ri of Eleusis. A large part of the job was
  16. to accept newcomers into the Village and provide them with what they
  17. need to secure a stable future. I also dealt with applicants to the
  18. Village coming from other cities.
  19.
  20. I am knowledgable with the administration side of the role, and needs
  21. little instructing on how things work and run. Thus, I require little of
  22. your time if appointed to get things going.
  23.
  24. I am no stranger to the role entailed within the Ministry. I have always
  25. had responsibilities, and thrive with them. I am eager to provide the
  26. next generation of Ashtani and make them as strong as they can be.
  27. Should you appoint me to the role, you will not be disappointed.
  28.
  29. With great anticipation,
  30.
  31. Entaro

  36. Greetings OVerseer and Archonate,
  37.
  38. I would like to throw my name in the ha for the open position of
  39. Ambassador.
  40.
  41. Currently I am the Head of Newcomers for the Ashuran and already deal
  42. with novices on a daily and ongoing basis. I have lived in Ashtan all my
  43. life and are very familiar with the Ambassadors position and duties. I
  44. believe I can carry out the responsibilities of this position with
  45. dedication and grace.
  46.
  47. I am not one for prolonged... Well anything really. You all know me, and
  48. I stand by my abilities.
  49.
  50. In service,
  51. Renshi Ignika Le'Dominae

  57.
  58. Dear Archons,
  59.
  60. I write this letter in application to the position of Ambassador of
  61. Ashtan. I have served as an aide to this position for many years under
  62. many Ambassadors, starting with Gregg Saer'rac up to Mathonwy Corso.
  63. I've not been an aide for every ambassador in between, but for many of
  64. them I have. My other credentials speak for themselves. I have been
  65. Archon to our fair city. I am currently serving as Head of Novices to
  66. the Occultists House. I am a religious and civic leader that takes that
  67. principles of our city very seriously.
  68.
  69. I have, in fact, been responsible for bringing many citizens into Ashtan
  70. in my lifetime. I often reach out to the brighter members of other
  71. cities--those who seems lost in the quagmires of Mhaldor and Shallam,
  72. for example, and offer them an alternative. Freedom. I've been told I
  73. can be rather persuasive.
  74.
  75. The youth of Ashtan also hold a special place in my heart. I can often
  76. be found speaking with them in Fire and Spice or at our main gates about
  77. the opportunities the city of freedom has to offer. I have also worked
  78. well in the past will all of the current Archons and most of the current
  79. Ministers.
  80.
  81. If I am chosen for this position, I can assure you that I'll always be
  82. available to young and old alike, always willing to answer questions for
  83. curious outsiders about our city, and a hard worker. In my free time, I
  84. am but a humble scholar. I've always considered myself a teacher and I
  85. think that serves well in this position. For example, I'm currently
  86. working on a tome that covers the myriad healing properties of rats and
  87. rat corpses. A tome our rat hunting youth would be better off for
  88. reading.
  89.
  90. In the end, I hope that my amiable personality and work ethic speaks for
  91. itself. I look forward to hearing from you.

  98.
  99. Dear Council of Ashtan,
  100.
  101. Please find below my application for the position of Ashtani Ambassador.
  102.
  103. In an ever growing City, we are always going through significant changes
  104. and it is important that Elder Council Members are able to devote their
  105. energies to ensuring that gains result from these changes. I believe
  106. that Ministers should assist in this process by freeing the Council to
  107. devote time to the serious issues while the Ministers take care of the
  108. more peripheral issues.
  109.
  110. To do this successfully each Minister must be able to develop a
  111. relationship with the Council and the City, built on understanding,
  112. trust and the ability to keep confidences. It is the quality of this
  113. relationship which often is as much the measure of the efficiency of a
  114. Minister as the technical skills.
  115.
  116. My position as Gatherer of Flowers while in the Sentaari has
  117. strengthened my leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and
  118. decision-making abilities and has enabled me to acquire expertise in all
  119. facets of successful Newcomer relations. My work as an Aide while in the
  120. Warlock House has furthered these abilities. I believe that these
  121. factors, along with an ever growing knowledge base, my experience with
  122. Newcomers and my personal skills such as initiative, creativity,
  123. adaptability and a willingness to learn will enable me to excel in the
  124. role of Ambassador.
  125.
  126. I believe I would enjoy the challenge and the opportunity to learn
  127. provided by this position. I also recognise the invaluable experience
  128. that would be gained working with the greatest City on Sapience.
  129.

  140.
  141. Subject: * Application for Ambassador of Ashtan *
  142.
  143.
  144. Dear Overseer,
  145.
  146. I, Maefeng P. Neige-Legacy, hereby declare that I should be the new
  147. Ambassador of Ashtan--with proof to back up my proclamation:
  148.
  149. Directly relating to Ashtan, I am a Centurion; am an aide to the Culture
  150. Ministry; am an active recruiter and an unofficial mentor in Ashtan; am
  151. prevalently listed on Project 100; am the sole operator of Ashtan
  152. Projects 569 and 363; am proud to say that I aid my fellow citizens
  153. every month; am an insufferably persistent nuisance to our enemies with
  154. a dark bow and any number of meteor arrows; and am consistently (though
  155. infrequently) the first Ashtani to warn young or inexperienced
  156. adventurers who have violated our simple but miraculously effective
  157. laws.
  158.
  159. I am also an Elite Enchantress (executive) and a Charming Artistic
  160. Virtuoso in the Sireni racial clan, the Keepers of the Song. I've
  161. mentored Sirens, young and old, in many aspects of life, including the
  162. luxuries that Freedom provides us. I've served as an unofficial
  163. ambassador for the Keepers on a few informal occasions, as well. Outside
  164. of organizations, I am a businesswoman and other things. How is this
  165. relevant, you ask? Aside from my using my influence in the Keepers to
  166. help spread the philosophies of Freedom, I've taught myself how to deal
  167. with entities and individuals of unpredictable natures.
  168.
  169. It is commonly known throughout Ashtan that I am not a credible
  170. combatant; however, I prefer using my voice and powers of reasoning to
  171. solve and prevent conflicts. Of course, I've defended Ashtan to the best
  172. of my lowly abilities on multiple occasions, and have died in battle
  173. many more times than I've slain adventurers. Suffice it to say, there
  174. are more than enough reasons that this application for such a critical
  175. position of immense responsibility is not an application for Minister of
  176. War. I defend Ashtan's honour in ways often left unnoticed, but I am not
  177. one for adulation and praise. I work for the welfare of Ashtan and my
  178. children, the latter of whom uphold their documented oaths of loyalty to
  179. Ashtan per my decree.
  180.
  181. Though I have not always been impeccably respectful of my citymates, I
  182. have matured greatly over the decades since my years as a rambunctious
  183. young Siren trying desperately to find her place in the world, make
  184. friends, et cetera. I have found my place in the world, and it is
  185. Ashtan: then and henceforth. I've always been friendly, compassionate,
  186. empathetic, and stalwart. Some may call me "hard-headed," a "jabber
  187. jaw," "abrasive," or any other names, but no sane individual worth more
  188. than a rat would dare call me dishonourable, dishonest, or
  189. antisocial--let alone disloyal to Ashtan. Ever since I was reborn in the
  190. Flame, my pride in and loyalty to Ashtan have only grown and become
  191. increasingly steeled in the many faces of adversity, both domestic and
  192. foreign. I have proven to myself time and again that I am capable of
  193. anything to which I devote adequate energy and resources.
  194.
  195. Pardon any redundancy I may be fueling, but I genuinely love (yes,
  196. "love") helping young and inexperienced adventurers; and I have a soft
  197. spot for Ashtani newbies, as they are the lifeblood of Ashtan, bring out
  198. the mother in me, and remind me of the trials and tribulations through
  199. which I endured as one of them. I'm naturally a social person, but I
  200. take my responsibilities very seriously. That said, I always make time
  201. for Ashtan newbies, no matter what it is that I'm doing. If there're
  202. newbies in need, I will help them indeed.
  203.
  204. I have faced more than a fair share of hardships throughout my
  205. existence, but
  206. I keep on being positive, youthful, fair-minded, and myself. As a formal
  207. Infernal rogue of Ashtan, I faced daily trials, but none were so
  208. disorienting as Lady Keresis' hissy fit. I am eternally grateful to the
  209. generosity of the men and women of Ashtan who donated gold and credits
  210. in reimbursement of what us former necromancers chose to give up instead
  211. of our citizenship. Not a day goes by in which I don't count my fortunes
  212. and subconsciously thank Lady Keresis for being so eccentric, for I've
  213. never been happier, more helpful, or so prosperous as I am as a
  214. Runewarden.
  215.
  216. As a businesswoman, the head of Ashtan Projects 569 and 363, a frequent
  217. contact of Gareyth's in regards to Project 100, a top recruiter in the
  218. KotS, and the coordinator of the recent and fabulously successful
  219. Keepers' Ball, I've dealt with dozens of lists, editions, revisions, et
  220. cetera. I also check to make sure strangers, my would-be business
  221. clients, and my current clients are not enemies of Ashtan before I talk
  222. to or conduct business with them. Consequently, tracking citizenship
  223. requests and approvals, and tracking warnings given to the young and
  224. inexperienced for breaching Ashtan's laws will not be an issue in the
  225. slightest.
  226.
  227. As for being able to handle the daily stresses that the Ambassador must
  228. endure, I foresee no issues whatsoever with my fortitude. I'm present
  229. among the living every single month, often for multiple days either at a
  230. time or at random. I'm very proficient at processing messages, letters,
  231. tells and histories; and I use my journal every day, so maintaining a
  232. log will be easier than cutting cake with my rapier (or broadsword).
  233. Furthermore, I'm a social butterfly by nature, so talking and working
  234. all day will be like a leisurely swim in a calm river for me. Patience
  235. is also not a problem, for I am, after all, already a mentor and a
  236. mother.
  237.
  238. My plans for the Ambassador Ministry include an established newbie fund
  239. strictly to be used for newbies, and newbies only. ALL withdrawals from
  240. it will have to be authorized by me first. Uses of this fund will
  241. include purchasing basic curatives, low- to mid-quality armour or
  242. weapons for newbies (no field plate for occultists, and stuff like that,
  243. of course!), and inks for boar, moss, tree, shield and moon tattoos. Of
  244. course, the transactions will be closely monitored, and any anomalies
  245. will be acted on swiftly by me. I'll have two aids check up on it
  246. periodically and present to me a cost-analysis; this will give them
  247. practice budgeting, and chances to give me their 'two cents' with
  248. documented proof. I'm very open-minded, but know what needs to be done,
  249. too.
  250.
  251. Another plan of mine for the Ambassador Ministry is to revamp the Ashtan
  252. Legacy Society that Orklanishkal left to gather nearly two centuries'
  253. worth of dust, and has told me explicitly that he'll not touch it
  254. anytime soon, and that he'd love to see me try to become the head of it.
  255.
  256. The ALS is a great idea, but Orklanishkal should not hold it hostage any
  257. longer. He expressed clearly no interest in bringing it back anytime
  258. soon, either. I'll turn it into a Project, something with actual
  259. substance. Of course, this will be a side project of sorts. My top
  260. priority will be my Ambassadorial responsibilities, naturally.
  261.
  262. Yet another plan of mine is to form a sort of "Ashtan Tour Guides"
  263. project in which volunteers will take time out of their busy days to
  264. show our newbies and new citizens around Ashtan, and help them become
  265. more socialized with our fellow citizens. I've witnessed people quit
  266. Ashtan because they didn't feel welcomed by anyone but myself and a
  267. select, shifting few...and it nearly broke my heart each time. My heart
  268. is well adapted now, but I still don't like losing citymates. I already
  269. do all that's in my power to make people feel and know that they are
  270. welcomed and valued as citizens of this incomparable Bastion of the
  271. North, but as the Ambassador, I will have far more needed influence.
  272.
  273. Now, in regards to the Ambassadorial aides, I'll not tolerate
  274. stagnation, or attempts to do my job for me. My aides will have to be at
  275. least half as proactive as I will be, or else, after adequate warning, I
  276. will dismiss them from my Ministry accordingly. My aides will have to
  277. actively participate in planning projects. I've worked in teams before,
  278. and have been "team captain," but this is not a makeshift egghunt in any
  279. regard. I will bring and maintain professionalism as Ambassador, and
  280. will prove that I can do a better job than my brother, Thi, likely did
  281. (I was not around then, surely, but I am ambitious).
  282.
  283. Thank you for reading and considering this application, Overseer Tanris
  284. Rozzan. I look forward to the results.
  285.
  286. Sincerely,
  287.
  288. Maefeng P. Neige-Legacy
