Paloma's Feelings

AA: I wanted to know how you were!
NM: I'm w☼☼☼☼☼nderful, as always!
AA: Ahaha, yeah, I guess you are...
NM: You guess??? Y☼u d☼n't need to guess ab☼ut this stuff, m☼ssbl☼☼d!
AA: That wasn't what I meant, I mean, um...
AA: You know what, I think I'd better stop bothering you!
NM: Yeah yeah, weird☼!

Paloma pushed her husktop away, heart hammering in her chest. Oh God, what were these feelings? She'd started to feel something different towards Cucali, after all those months of teaching her to fly. (They were just flying together, now. That's what Paloma liked to think.) She'd started to notice how Cucali always insulted her pretty face or her cute butt or her nice hair.

What was she thinking?!

Paloma knew exactly what she was thinking. She was going to ask Cucali if she'd like to play the game she got from Flynnt with her -- this SGRUB thing. Just as friends! Only as friends! But she couldn't deny there was something else there, something she'd been trying to feel for Emarin, something she'd felt for Elizan, something which had fluttered in her chest for Flynnt. She'd thought it was impossible to feel that way towards a highblood -- to pity them! How do you pity the ones on the top!?

And yet she pitied Cucali, the girl who couldn't possibly know a proper friendship for all her explosions. The girl who pushed away anyone who could possibly help her. The girl who tried to stand on her own two feet no matter what. She pitied her for being an excellent troll... and Paloma recognised the bitterness in that.

"Maybe I'm broken." The bird-troll grinned, and her expression was sour.
