  3. *You arrive at the one building you've seen so far that fits the beast-man's description.*
  4. *Where other buildings are made from concrete, bricks or even wood in some cases, this one appears to be built from mortar and stone. The Keep, as you see it, is a great and towering slab of medieval architecture beset by four rectangular spires, its measure as high as a skyscraper and its width more than half its height. Windows line its face in a grid, giving notion of rooms and perhaps even lodgings behind its walls. Some of the windows bear onlookers, though you appear to be entirely beneath their notice.*
  5.
  6. *The building stands in a clear area, almost secluded from the surrounding city. You wonder whether that was the choice of the supposed owners of The Keep or the rest of the city.*
  7.
  8. *A large door carved from solid oak, taller and wider than some houses, stands before you at the head of a large stairway as you approach. Two guards in suits of blackened metal armor stand just outside of it, each of them armed with weapons marked by unplaceable sigils. One of them addresses you in hard and gruff voice as soon as you reach the stairs.*
  9.
  10. "That is far enough, newcomer. State your business."
  11.
  12. ----------------
  13.
  14. *The Entrance Hall, as it turns out, is a large, elongated and spacious room leading to a wide staircase and a set of doors. The main stairs connect to an upper walkway that leads in two directions; one hall to the left, another to the right. Four smaller, polished wooden doors sit inside of the walls on each side of the staircase. Where they lead is entirely unclear.*
  15.
  16. *The man leads you to a corner area on the left-hand side of the main staircase. Several men, women and things more or less than human stand together in a crowd, many of them talking amongst themselves while others read a large board full of parchment posters on one of the walls. Some of these beings look right at home here. Others stand in stark contrast with their surroundings.*
  17.
  18. "This is our area for mercenary work." your apparent guide says, motioning easily towards where the hunters stand, "I've taken the liberty of marking you as one of the swords available for hire, so that prospectors can tell you apart from one of their own. You can wait for someone to approach you with an offer, go speaking to whichever of those in need that you can find, or examine the board for any potential jobs, bounties and other work opportunities that may strike your fancy. Some of those opportunities are posted by those who maintain this ground, but most come from without." He turns to stare off in the direction of the board. "Be mindful of any terms set on the posters whenever you take a job from the board. If someone is to be brought here alive, then you are to do exactly that, no matter how much easier the alternative may be."
  19.
  20. The board has many postings on it; group jobs, protection jobs, a few multi-excursion jobs in someplace called "The Outer City", and numerous postings of specific targets who need killing or capturing. Rogue magicians, sentient monsters and other dangerous individuals fill the board, each of them with varying prices on their heads.
  21.
  22. You'll need to figure out what kinds of work you're cut out for before you can choose one of the more generalized jobs to go after. Other than that, the specific bounties that stand out to you are as follows:
  23. `James Gallo: Dead or Alive, 1,000 gold`
  24. `Merle Halland: Dead or Alive, 1,000 gold`
  25. `Rosalina Cisneros: Alive, 1,500 gold`
  26. `Black Mary: Dead or Alive, 5,000 gold`
  27. `Jonathan D'zast: Dead or Alive, 10,000 gold`
  28. `Any & All Legion Children: 1,000 gold per head, wanted on general principle, PERSISTING`
  29.
  30. *As the three of you speak, you see the man in the gray robes approaching out of the corner of your eyes...accompanied by two more familiar faces. Or at least **one** more familiar face; the other is currently hidden within the confines of a rolling barrel.*
