  1. Welcome to Honors Chemistry!
  2.
  3.
  4.
  5. WOW!!! What an OUTSTANDING YEAR IN BIOLOGY!!!! Many people dominated the course, the spreadsheet of grades is OUTSTANDING!
  6.
  7. Here is the infamous honors chemistry packet. I was going to send this in July but I will send it now, because it is about 100 pages and this will allow you the time and opportunity to print it someplace besides home!
  8.
  9.
  10.
  11. Instructions for the Packet:
  12.
  13. · Do not start it until late July/early August. Take a break and relax, you don’t want to do it all now and then forget it by September.
  14.
  15. · This packet does not cover everything that is in honors chemistry, there is a lot more but this should get you off to a great start!
  16.
  17. · If you dominated challenge science, do a few problems from each skill as a refresher.
  18.
  19. · If you did well but did not dominate, do most of it.
  20.
  21. · If you did not do well and are still taking honors chemistry….do all of it…hopefully you are now willing to work hard….
  22.
  23. Advice for honors chemistry:
  24.
  25. 1) You did not learn everything in that will be presented in this course. There will be a lot of “review.” Make sure you pay attention to everything (even the review) AND SPEND MORE TIME ON THE NEW MATERIAL YOU DON’T KNOW!
  26.
  27. 2) Do not assume you know everything, there will be new material that is taught. THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR IS HARDER!!!!
  28.
  29. 3) DO NOT GET COMPLACENT IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW THE MATERIAL. STAY SHARP AND FOCUSED. YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR AP CHEMISTRY!!!
  30.
  31. 4) GET THE HIGHEST GRADE YOU CAN GET TO HAVE THE OPTION OF TAKING AP CHEMISTRY!!!! THE MORE YOU PAY ATTENTION, THE MORE YOU LEARN, THE BETTER YOU WILL DO IN AP CHEMISTRY!!!
  32.
  33. 5) If you have free time because you are ahead and know the material well, spend that time on other subjects (AP Physics, Pre Calc, Writing, etc….)
  34.
  35. 6) Colleges want to see you do well in everything, do not use the sorry excuse that you don’t like another subject and not put effort into it. Competitive colleges will find a kid that is successful in everything. Believe it or not there are a lot of kids competing for college admission outside of the 19468 zip code!
  36.
  37. Have a great summer, and I look forward to watching your progress in honors chemistry. It is up to you to ABSOLUTELY DOMINATE to be eligible for future opportunities!!!!!!!!!!!
