» | personality: jaehyun seems to be really sexy and mysterious on stage and is known for his hardcore abs. however, he's not nearly as bold as he seems. jaehyun is extremely self conscious, which is what leads to him working out so much to have a good body. he also tends to push himself really hard, because he's scared that fans will think he's only in the entertainment industry because of his older brother. he is constantly questioning whether or not fans think he's trying to live off his brother's fame, and he absolutely hates being compared to him, wanting to become his own person and make his own image. he tends to look extremely tough, but he is really a softie, and is very gentlemen-like. he usually finds it easy to talk to guys, but he is very shy when it comes to the opposite sex, and tends to embarrass himself a lot because of it, as he never really knows what to say, and just turns into an adorable and awkward guy. he always seems to have a lot of energy, and cannot ever sit still, which is mostly due to his adhd. however, when he is really tired, he will not do anything and will become extremely lazy and just lounge around. he is the maknae of his group, and has been the youngest for all of his life, so he's kind of used to it already (but that doesn't mean he likes it). He can sometimes appear as a whiney maknae, who sucks up to his hyungs. he absolutely hates aegyo, but he will do it to get what he wants, and most people give in out of pity because his aegyo is that bad. being the maknae, he is often babied, and the other members often pinch his cheeks to make him look really cute, to which he often responds to by scowling and whining "hyung!". however, his other group members feel the need to protect him because he is the baby of the group, even though he doesn't often look or seem like the maknae.


» | background: jaehyun was born in seoul in early 1999 to loving parents. he took a liking to the performing arts even as a child, much like his older brother, im jaebum, also known as got7's jb. the pair of them were quite close, despite the five year age gap, and his older brother was always quite protective over him while they were younger. they both had a lot of common interests, so they didn't fight as often as some siblings would, because they got along most of the time. jaehyun always did average in school, but often had trouble concentrating, due to his inability to sit still, so his parents enrolled him in dance lessons in hope that it would help with all his energy. he took a liking to his dance classes, and found that he really liked performing for other people, which led to him wanting to go into the entertainment industry. when he was in primary school, he was often teased for having too much energy and not being able to sit still (which often led to an angry jaebum marching up and threatening them in an attempt to protect his younger brother), and eventually his parents went and got him checked out for adhd. the teasing stopped once he got to high school because people were too busy gossiping about who was dating who to pay attention to the amount of energy he had. in 2011, jaehyun was scouted by sm entertainment and later attended an audition before being accepted into the company and joining sm rookies. he originally didn't want to train under the same label as his brother, which was why he stayed at sm. however, in 2013 he left the company for personal reasons, but felt empty afterwards, because he didn't know what to do with his life if he wasn't perfomring. He later attended an audition for jyp entertainment, where his brother was training, upon encouragement from his older brother, and his two best friends, red velvet's yeri and got7's yugyeom. he was accepted, and has been training under jyp entertainment ever since.

    » TRUE | while training under sm, he got into a scandal after fans managed to get a hold of photos with him and jaebum play fighting, shortly after jj project debuted, and they believed he was being disrespectful. however, it was later cleared up when it was released that the two were siblings, and that it wasn't serious. fans were extremely surprised to find out that jaebum had a younger sibling

» | how you met or will meet: they met a few years back, when jaehyun was training under sm entertainment, because they were both part of sm rookies. yeri was the more outgoing one who started talking to him first, and they both got long really well because they were both born in the same year. they remained in contact even after jaehyun left the entertainment company and switched to jyp entertainment.
