  1. > Be Vinyl
  2. > After your talk with Amy, you decide to forgo lunch.
  3. > You aren't that hungry anyway.
  4. > As you pick your way around the cafeteria, you pass by the Eco kids.
  5. > You hear snippets of Bob Marley's "Could You Be Loved' blasting from the green rasta-haired kid's iPod.
  6. > 'Can I?' you bitterly think and walk out.
  7.
  8. > Be Norman
  9. > You're sitting in vice principal Luna's office.
  10. "You're telling me that you DIDN'T attack Sunset Shimmer, but pulled her out of a physical altercation?"
  11. > The way she says it makes it sound like a bad thing.
  12. > You nod, biting your lip.
  13. > Her pacing reminds you of an underfed lion you once saw in a traveling circus back in Philadelphia.
  14. > It's very unnerving.
  15.
  16. > Be Sunset Shimmer
  17. > The NERVE of that girl.
  18. > and how dare the racist touch you?
  19. > You pick at your tofu, too angry to continue eating.
  20.
  21. > Be Vinyl
  22. > You head back to the bathroom,
  23. > You figure you've got enough time to sit out lunch til the bell rings.
  24. > Stare at a clock mounted on the wall, grateful that the day is almost over.
  25. > You pull open the bathroom door and go lock yourself in a stall.
  26. > You prop yourself up on the toilet, plug your headphones in and listen to your music.
  27.
  28. > Be Norman
  29. > "I had to."
  30. "Had...to? I don't understand, Mr. Normal."
  31. > "If I hadn't grabbed Sunset Shimmer, someone could have been hurt."
  32. "Are you saying that Sunset started it?"
  33. > "Yes..."
  34.
  35. >Be Sunset Shimmer
  36. > You snap your compact mirror shut, annoyed of how awful you look.
  37. > No thanks to Trixie.
  38. > You figure you should go to the nurse;s office and sleep the rest of the school day.
  39. > You pass by Snails ho's been at the cafeteria's entrance this whole time.
  40. > Oooh, so he's the one who told Trixie.
  41. > "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be finding that pin?"
  42. > Tap his chin up a little harder than you intended.
  43. > "Piss off, loser. Find that pin."
  44.
  45. > Be Trixie
  46. > Get bored of this talk.
  47. > "Anyway, sure why not."
  48. > "I want to get Snips and Snails back on my side."
  49. "So I'll come meet you here tonight before your showdown with Shimmer."
  50. > Nolan extends his hand out.
  51. > You shake hands in agreement.
  52. > For now, you're partners.
  53.
  54. > Be Nolan
  55. > You leave after shaking hands with Trixie.
  56. > Remembering just who you left Norman with, you rush back to the cafeteria.
  57. > Of course he's gone and all the kids are chatting away like nothing.
  58. > You go see Amy.
  59. > She's with her friends.
  60. "Nolan! Come to join us?"
  61. > You;d love to, but you need to find Norman first.
  62. > "Actually I was looking for Norman, did you see where he went?"
  63. "Oh, vice principal Luna's office, I think."
  64. > Facepalm
  65. > Of fucking course. You thank her and rush to the office.
  66.
  67. > Be Snails
  68. > Still looking for pin.
  69. > No luck at all.
  70. > You feel like giving up when something shiny catches your eye.
  71. > Praise the heavens, Jesus does exist!
  72. > Scoop pin out from under locker.
  73. > Now that your luck has been used up, you know you're in for a shitstorm of nothing but bad luck.
  74.
  75. > Be Nolan again
  76. > Finally reached the VP office.
  77. > Peek inside.
  78. > Norman is getting chewed out for helping you stop a fight.
  79. > Cringe at the sight.
  80. > Reminds you too much of that one time during field training where you watched your dad interrogate a Shadowbolt.
  81. > Sucking it up, you knock on the door.
  82. "Come in."
  83. > Walk inside and feel sorry for Norman, who's all hunched up and looking at his lap.
  84. > "I can validate Norman helping me stop a fight, Ms. Luna."
  85. "Is that right?" Crossing her arms, she waves a hand at Norman. "All right you may go, Mr. Normal."
  86. > The bell rings, notifying everyone that lunch is over.
  87. > Norman looks at you like if you have just saved him from the gallows.
  88. > Slap him on the back and start heading to your next class.
  89. > Think to yourself 'and tonight will only get better.'
  90. > You reach for your scarf, but remember that Vinnie still has it.
  91. > ...Vinnie....
  92.
  93. > Be Vinyl
  94. > You almost didn't hear the bell ring.
  95. > Thankfully you had been listening to the intro to Metallica's 'Fade to Black'.
  96. > You look around and decide maybe it would be better if you were outside.
  97. > You know, fresh air to clear up your troubled mind.
  98. > Getting to the soccer field unnoticed is an easy task for you.
  99. > Puh-lease, you went through the same training Nolan did.
  100. > You were just better at it.
  101. > Reaching the bleachers, you duck under them and lay down, basking in the small rays of sunshine that shine through the cracks.
  102. > You're pretty sure you can get Tavi to let you copy her notes later.
  103. > Closing your eyes, you allow yourself to fall asleep again.
  104.
  105. > Be Snails
  106. > Chemistry class
  107. > You think about the pin in your pocket as you and today's lab partner, 'Atomic' Adam, carefully measure your ingredients for today's experiment.
  108. > Well, he's doing most of the work, and you let him, since her wants that A and he's made it clear to you that he doesn't want you fucking up anything.
  109. > Your conscience whispers to you.
  110. > It tells you to keep the pin for yourself and make up an elaborate lie to Sunset about not finding it.
  111. > Yeah, that's a good idea.
  112. > Send text to Sunset.
  113. > "dun think pin is here anymore'
  114. "FKING IDIOT!"
  115. > That girl is such a charmer.
  116. > Allow yourself to smile anyway, tomorrow you're playing CoD with Trixie and Snips again.
  117.
  118. > Be Nolan
  119. > Walking to Drama class with Norman
  120. > Pass by the Music room and notice that Vinyl isn't there.
  121. > Weird, she was always the first one here.
  122. > Wave at Octavia to come over.
  123. "Uh...see you later bro!" Norman scrambles to get out of there as quickly as possible.
  124. > Roll your eyes and grab his jacket, stopping him in his tracks
  125. "Vhat do you vant?" Octavia is indifferent to you, but she's spearing Norman with her death glare.
  126. > "Have you seen Vinyl?"
  127. "Nein, I haven't seen her since drama class."
  128. > Get worried. Where is she?
  129. > You're going to have to go look for her.
  130.
  131. > Be Norman
  132. > Struggling to get away from Nolan's grasp.
  133. > Why won't he let you go.
  134. > Does he not know how much Octavia wants to see you dead?
  135. "Vhat do you vant?"
  136. > Nolan asks her if she's seen Vinyl
  137. > You can feel her eyes burning a hole into your back.
  138. > She denies it, saying that she hasn't seen her since drama class.
  139. "And vhat is ze racist doing vith you?"
  140. "He isn't racist, will the school just fucking drop it already?"
  141. > No response.
  142. > She goes back to the classroom, thankfully leaving you alone.
  143. > Or so you thought.
  144. > You feel something hard collide with your head and clatter to the ground.
  145. > It's her cello's bow.
  146.
  147. > Be Nolan
  148. > Just watched Octavia clock Norman upside the head with her stick thingy.
  149. "Ow! Why would you do that?!" Norman is nursing his injury.
  150. > Gotta hand it to ya, Tavi, that's a good arm.
  151. > "Well then, sorry for bothering you. Let's got Norm."
  152. > Drag him out to the front hall of the school.
  153. "Uh, Nols. Class is other way?"
  154. > "I'm worried about Vinnie."
  155. "That's good to know, mind letting me go?"
  156. > Realize you're still holding on to him and let go.
  157. > "Forgot about that."
  158. "Yeah yeah, I'm going to class, see ya Nolan."
  159. > He leaves you all by yourself.
  160. > Sigh and think about why she's missing.
  161. > C-could it be because of the kiss?
  162. > Mentally slap yourself.
  163. > Of course it is!
  164. > She's normally cool and collected
  165. > You're starting to rethink if it was a wise idea to tell her about Shimmer.
  166. "Fancy meeting you here, Nolan. You ditching class too?"
  167. > Oh god no.
  168. > "Hey...Brad."
  169.
  170. > Be Brad
  171. > Still a little bummed out about not getting a smoothie from Sugar Cube Corner.
  172. > Oh well.
  173. > You're ditching class because frankly, the school doesn't seem to give two shits about ditching.
  174. > Decide that you'll go get that smoothie anyway.
  175. > You walk towards the school's lobby and hear voices.
  176. > Cool it's Norman and Nolan.
  177. > Freaky how similar their names are.
  178. > Notice that Nolan is holding Norman's jacket.
  179. > Huh...
  180. "That's good to know, mind letting me go now?"
  181. > Nolan let's go of his jacket.
  182. > They talk a little more and Norman leaves.
  183. > Nolan seems a bit troubled.
  184. > Eh, you did your good deed of the day, but shouldn't hurt to see what Nolan is up to, right?
  185. > "Fancy meeting you here, Nolan. You ditching class too?"
  186. > He hesitates in answering you.
  187. "Hey...Brad."
  188. > You wonder why they always do that.
  189. > You're Bradley 'Flash' Sentry, a totally Bradical guy.
  190. > Laughing, you loop your arm around Nolan.
  191. > "Say, I could really use a smoothie right about now, wanna come with?"
  192. > Begin dragging him along anyway.
  193. > This is going to be so Bradical!
  194.
  195. > Be Nolan
  196. > How...did you ever get in this mess?
  197. > Brad is leading you in the exact opposite direction you wanted to go.
  198. > All for a smoothie.
  199. > You narrow your eyes, Vinyl is more important than a frothy sugar drink.
  200. > You knock Brad's arm off of you.
  201. > "Sorry, bro. Gonna have to take a rain-check on that, see ya."
  202. > You leave him, scratching his head.
  203. > See him shrug and call after you.
  204. "Call me!"
  205. > What was he? A 16 year old girl?
  206.
  207. > Be Brad
  208. > "Call me!"
  209. > You wave at Nolan as he walks the opposite direction.
  210. > Shove your hands in your pocket and go to parking lot.
  211. > Your positive Nolan will call you.
  212. > Everyone always does.
  213.
  214. > Be Nolan
  215. > Now that you've ditched Brad, you think of all the possible places Vinyl could be.
  216. > You check the library first.
  217. > No one there, save for that new girl, Twilight.
  218. > Don't think you've ever seen her go to class.
  219. > But no Vinyl.
  220. > Maybe the Media room?
  221. > Sometime Vinyl liked to sneak in there because 'the acoustics are better'.
  222. > Empty too.
  223. > You've pretty much thought about every place....
  224. > No, there's one place left.
  225. > You walk out to the fields, Iron Will is shouting at some poor sap for missing the perfect chance for a goal.
  226. > Notice Norman's rainbow haired friend.
  227. > You know she's the captain of every sports team the school has.
  228. > How does she even find the time for all of them, you'll never know.
  229. > Maybe you could ask her for help?
  230.
  231.
  232. > Be Nolan
  233. "HEY KID GET OFF THE FIELD!"
  234. > Iron Will is as mad as a bull.
  235. > Ignore him.
  236. > If he comes at you, you could easily take him down.
  237. > Walk right up to Rainbow Girl...
  238. > No wait is that her name?
  239. > Meh, Rainbow Girl will do for now.
  240. > "Hey Rain-"
  241. > Your instincts tell you to duck.
  242. > You drop to the ground, a soccer ball sailing through empty space.
  243. > It lands somewhere under the bleachers.
  244. "Whoa, sorry man! I didn't think I would kick it that hard."
  245. > Rainbow is running towards you, her multi-color streaked hair flapping behind her.
  246. "Those were some slick moves, bro. Name's Rainbow Dash."
  247. > She slaps you on your back, making you stumble forward a step.
  248. > "I'm-"
  249. "Nolan North, right? You're Norman's friend. He's told me about you." She crosses her arms behind her head, a lazy pose. "So what can I do for ya?"
  250. > "Actually, I'm looking for Vinyl Scratch, have you seen her?"
  251. "Yeah, before gym actually."
  252. > "Where?"
  253. "Bleachers."
  254.
  255. > Be Vinyl
  256. > Taking a nap.
  257. > Which is cut short by a soccer ball hitting you on your side.
  258. > Jesus fuck, CAN'T A GIRL WITH A BROKEN HEART GET A DECENT NAP ONCE IN A WHILE?!
  259. > You grab the ball, with full intentions of throwing it back full force at the perpetrator.
  260. > Pause and drop the ball.
  261. > Nolan is here.
  262. > Approaching Rainbow Dash.
  263. > Shitshitshitshitshit
  264. > Spazz out for a second.
  265. > You peek through the bleachers' openings.
  266. > She's pointing your way, a grin on her face.
  267. > Godfuckingdammit Rainbow.
  268. > Well, there's no running away now.
  269. > Time to face the music.
  270. > And boy is it going to be the kind you hate.
  271.
  272. > Be Vinyl
  273. > Duck before Nolan can see you.
  274. > But you know he's already on his way over.
  275. > No time to run and hide.
  276. > You curl up and bury your head in your knees.
  277. > Why doesn't magic exist?
  278. > You could use it to turn invisible.
  279. > Or make it seem like the whole thing never happened.
  280. > You feel him sit next to you, he doesn't say anything for a while.
  281. > Long awkward silence.
  282. > "Nolan"
  283. "Vinnie"
  284.
  285. > Be Brad
  286. > Currently chugging down your third smoothie.
  287. > Nolan, you craycray fool.
  288. > What you're missing now, is a slice of heaven.
  289. > Smile and slap down some bills to pay for your order.
  290. "Thank you for your patronage!"
  291. > "No problem, Mrs. Cake."
  292.
  293. > Be Nolan
  294. > You thank Rainbow Dash for her help
  295. > You can see Vinyl's hair duck down.
  296. > Man, she must really be beating herself up.
  297. > Walk over as slowly as you can without looking like an idiot.
  298. > Kneel down and crawl underneath bleachers.
  299. > Vinyl has curled up into herself and you sit next to her.
  300. > Awkward pause.
  301. > You both turn to each other and speak at the same time.
  302. > No you first."
  303. "No, you first."
  304. > This is silly.
  305. > Grin at her, it's just like old times.
  306. "Look about that kiss..."
  307. > "I liked it."
  308. "Whu..."
  309.
  310.
  311. > Be Vinyl
  312. > "Whu..."
  313. > H-h-h-he LIKED it?
  314. > You know your face is bright red, and boy are you glad your shades cover most of you face.
  315. "It was my first kiss."
  316. > Seems like he's talking to himself now.
  317. > Say nothing.
  318. "Say, Vinnie?"
  319. > "Yeah?"
  320. "Mind if I borrow your lap for a sec?"
  321. > Lap?
  322. > "What for?"
  323. "No real reason."
  324. > He lays his head on your lap.
  325. > Just like something out of a chinese cartoon.
  326.
  327. > Be Nolan
  328. > Her lap is actually quite nice.
  329. > Your green eyes stare up at her and you reach up to remove her shades.
  330. > She's got the prettiest eyes.
  331. > She blinks down at you, a fair amount of red dusting her cheeks.
  332. "N-Nolan...what about Amy?"
  333. > Don't say anything for a while.
  334. > "Yes, Amy. You know I like her. But I'm conflicted Vinnie."
  335. > Shift yourself so you're propped up on an elbow and tuck her hair behind her ear.
  336. "Conflicted?" her voice is squeaky.
  337. "Yeah, I like you too."
  338.
  339. > Be Sunset
  340. > Frustrated beyond comprehension.
  341. > The pin's good as gone now.
  342. > This is what you get for sending a moron to do your work for you.
  343. > And you have a duel with Trixie tonight.
  344. > This is fucking stupid.
  345.
  346. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHekNnySAfM
  347.
  348. > Be Vinyl
  349. "I like you too."
  350. > His words are echoing inside your head.
  351. > Sighing, you lean back and absently stroke his hair.
  352. > It's as soft as you remember from when you were kids.
  353. > "Nolan?"
  354. "Mmm?"
  355. > Fidget a little.
  356. "What's up, Vinnie?"
  357. > "W-we will always be together, right? No matter who you choose?"
  358. "Of course."
  359. > Laugh a little and remove his scarf from your pocket, draping it around your neck.
  360. > "I'm glad."
  361.
  362. > Be Nolan
  363. > She's been silent for a while, stroking your hair.
  364. > She used to this a lot when you were kids, and you wonder when it was that she had stopped.
  365. "Nolan?"
  366. > "Mmm?" you're almost falling asleep. The lull of chatter in the background, the warth of the sun, and Vinyl's soft lap combined with the hair stroking?
  367. > Best way to fall asleep.
  368. > You feel her shifting, and wake up fully.
  369. > She's biting her lips again.
  370. > "What's up, Vinnie?"
  371. "W-we will always be together, right? No matter who you choose?"
  372. > Choose?
  373. > "Of course."
  374. > You watch her laugh and put your scarf on.
  375. "I'm glad."
  376. > "Does it really smell that good, V?"
  377. > Her answer is to snuggle into it.
  378. "Fuck yeah!"
  379.
  380. > Be Brad
  381. > Pulling in to CHS parking lot.
  382. > Maybe three smoothies were too much.
  383. > You feel like shit.
  384. > "This...is not Bradical."
  385. > Rest your head against the steering wheel and notice your exgirlfriend walking outside of the school.
  386. > "Sunset?"
  387. > Sure she was a bitch but eh, life is full of them, what's one more?
